Oh yeah. I am in. Sidekick builder! God knows one of our players wants to use a character sheet as well. But intimidated by the amount of things in the standard one.
Nope. And, as much as I'd like to see one, I wouldn't suggest holding your breath while you wait. Development was never speedy to begin with, but it seemed to drop to a standstill after WOTC acquired DDB. A few improvements have showed up lately, and I'm guessing that there's been a fair amount happening behind the scenes on things we customers don't see, but a sidekick builder is quite a project. And with One D&D just around the corner, they may not feel like it's worth the effort.
For the time being, I'm using the homebrew tools to create the sidekicks my players need.
So many features that we are expected to Homebrew in or simply dont have access to in the system, is the developer hoping to get to OneDnD so its no longer needed. if its that easy to Homebrew then add it as a feature, its what the subscribers and book buyers pay for.
Hi just checking in. I have a campaign in which i give the players a chance to hire a sidekick based on the average level of the party. This is some tedious work to do as the party advances. I use the rules in Tasha's as well as some generators from the DM's guild. Would love a method to create a side kick that is as easy to create a character in D&D beyond.
It's so tedious to have to do this manually... Not to mention things like the sidekicks or steel defenders can't even be found in the homebrew library, making them impossible to copy and modify for custom changes. AAAAAND what little customization that IS available for extras is pitifully useless meaning I have to go back to the homebrewer to add/change things like proficiencies, saves, etc.
is there a way to add sidekicks to your character sheet, im not seeing the option. https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/132673232. i seen some videos online where people were able to add speerate warrior, expert and spellcaster statblocks. all i have is the monsters etc from my sourcebooks
Can we get a sidekick creator like the character creator? I think that would be awesome! I just got a sidekick in game but with no creator for it. I mean I don't mind using the books but I think it would be awesome to have one! What do you guys think?
I suppose you can find a side kick along with paid Hirelings and/or Henchmen to accompany you on quests/adventures. I don't know how much of a headache it would be for you or the DM, to account for the salary, lodging and safety of such people/species in your party. 🤷🏿♂️
Yesssss! I’ve got a PC with a steel defender in my campaign and it’s a pain in the booty!!! Doesn’t even have the things they need on the page for them to roll dice for it in beyond20
Honestly they don't need to make a whole creator, just a sidekick class for the existing creator. Sadly, they don't let us homebrew anything beyond subclass or we could do it ourselves.
You can homebrew sidekicks as "Monsters" and then add them to your character sheet on the "Extras" page. But it gets super tedious because you have to either create a new monster for each level (i.e., "Spellcaster - Mage (level 2)", "Spellcaster - Mage (level 3)", etc.) or keep updating the monster/NPC sheet every time the party levels up.
it's 2025, do we have some news for the sidekick page builder/tracker ??
i would really like it since i play with a little group of people that use 2 sidekicks. there caracter are on DDB would be nice to track sidekick here to.
I'm just your everyday dungeon master. Ignore that jar full of souls. And those bones in the corner are just props, don't worry. I'm definitely NOT a lich. Definitely.
Yes, I like beholders. Yes, I curated an exquisite personality for commoner #2864. Yes, my catchphrase is "are you sure?"
For as much money as we pay for the D&D Beyond this feature should have been provided long ago. Going to the Manage Extras and adding Sidekick and modifying is NOT easy.

This is your customer base asking for a feature that should be simple to program.

Has this been implemented yet?

Where is this feature? It's long overdue.

So will a side kick creator be coming

Still no movement on this I see...

Tedious, but not impossible.
This has been mentioned several times before in this thread. Yes.
...my point remains that all they would need to do is give us a Sidekick class for the existing character builder.

I agree, and yes a system is needed.

What's probably going to happen is that it will be implemented when it gets revised for the 2024 rules.
At least, that's my hope.
