It's time to show off your D&D jack-o'-lanterns! Reply to this post with a picture of your carved pumpkin to be entered into our random drawing for one of three Legendary Bundles!
The showcase ends October 31st at 9am PT, so get carving!
Guess those of us who don't have access to pumpkins or artistic talent are just shit of out of luck, then? Thanks.
Or who aren't American.
Precisely. Pumpkin carving is a very "American" thing not done here (Wales). Over 3 decades of life, having travelled around the country more than a few times and yet never once encountered a pumpkin in my life.
And my graphical skills are non-existent. Yet, as is so often the case, these competitions are aimed at either the American or the Graphically-Capable.
For once it would be nice if these kinds of competitions would realise their users are a variety in both skill and location. Is it so hard to open up contributions to a variety of talents like writing , recipies, costumes, or more all centred around this holiday?
I think you missed that the competition is a random draw of those who enter - there's no minimum art skills required! :)
If you're in a part of the world where pumpkins aren't readily available and perhaps pumpkin carving isn't a thing, then improvise! Pick something else!
The spirit of competitions such as this is in the participation and having some fun doing so.
Absolutely as Stormknight said. This will be a random draw, not a judged event, so no one should feel dissuaded do to their artistic skills!
As for access to pumpkins we will absolutely accept alternative objects being carved! We called it Pumpkin carving because of Halloween, but the spirit of this is to allow anyone entry. If pumpkins are hard to obtain feel free to enter with something else.
Finally, this thread sees some love! I was starting to get worried.
I wanted to participate too, but we don't have pumpkins around these parts, and the watermelon season has passed (although I suspect it would have been a messy affair).
So, I had two options. Figure out how to carve a grape, or latch fiercely on Oboe's precise wording as per RAW: "we will absolutely accept alternative objects being carved!"
My bedroom wall is kind of a very faint pumpkin orange, if you squint, and thus...
I hope it counts! :D
DISCLAIMER: My bedroom wall is fine, there will be no threat of litigation from upset and/or concerned third parties. This has been entirely made up by Photoshop mainly due to my lack of expertise with power tools and suspicions that the neighbors would have been annoyed, despite the festive season.
This is technically still open for a couple more hours. I could not find anything to carve and have absolutely zero hand dexterity for stuff like this so that's probably for the better. So I found an online pumpkin carving site: https://onlinepumpkincarving.com/
It's rather shit because zero dexterity, shaky hands, no mouse (laptop touchpad) plus being a very limited tool. Thankfully, artistic skills don't matter and it's a random draw and this is the best I can do.
Wow! Unbelievable, how big chances we have to win. I doт't understand why there were so few participants. Jack-o'-lantern carving are so fun even when you are grown up =)
