Really excited to see this introduced, and glad to see you can tweak things before printing.
I would really like to see a version of the character sheet that prints spell casts, in the same format as on the online builder. This was one of the main draws for the 4E builder back in the day, and would make spellcasting waaaayyyy easier.
Also, if the character sheet printed cards with homebrew spells and items, it would help a lot. You can look up others in the PHB, but it'd be a pain to have to use your phone or computer to reference homebrew spells.
Hey guys! Sorry if this has already been brought up.
When I export my character to a PDF, it seems to make all the text the right size to fit a box, which is good. However, my personality trait remains in enormous letters and gets cut off after a few words. I don't understand this because my ideals and bonds are much longer than my trait, but are both shrunk to fit their boxes.
Thanks for the amazing work! I'll be using this a ton!
Descriptions for race and class features as well as spells would allow you to play mostly from the sheet itself, which IMO is a must. As others have mentioned, MorePurpleMoreBetter's sheet already has this solved perfectly. The shortened descriptions that fit neatly on the page is what the Beyond sheet needs as well. Maybe you should have a chat so you don't have to do the same work twice?
Only other major thing aside from those that have been mentioned before (Hit Points title, summaries etc) is that in a quick druid build, druidic doesn't come under languages, just in skills and abilities.
EDIT: This also happens in general it seems. So not sure if it's intentional.
I really appreciate the effort on this. thank you. if you ever get around to iterating on this and adding some polish please take a look at orcpub2 and their pdf exports. what i love about those is that all FEATURES of a character that can typically be tied to an *action (Action, Bonus Action, Reaction, Interaction) all of those are detailed on the front of the page in "FEATURES & TRAITS" and then your other things that are nice to know but do not map specifically to an *action portion of a turn (like your Background feature) all of those go on the second page in "ADDITIONAL FEATURES & TRAITS". I love that in the heat of battle right on the front page the players have all of their options visible to consider right in front of their face.
at least consider if a pattern like that would be beneficial to your users.

We already have an entire actions economy system that's in progress and will be shared soon that will do what you're describing.
Just to check in: Any word on if additional character sheet options will be available by launch? I really want to ask a timeframe, but I understand that if they aren't planned for launch you won't want to give one.
I ask because more detailed character sheet options will make this immediately more useful for some of the younger players. My kids are now into it. My 8 year old daughter is even DM for three campaigns (baffles the mind). And the less they have to go to books to look things up the better.

There will be no new PDF formats for launch, but we will continue to tweak and improve the current one for several weeks after launch.
New templates/ options are on the roadmap, and we will explore as many possibilities as we can support down the road.

Thanks for the response. Understood that you have a lot on your plate. Short summaries of important class-race features and a spell summary page/s would go a long way.

Some sort of API for this purpose would be a 'simple' solution.

Is there any information that can be shared regarding the changes to the PDF character sheets and maybe a general time table for when it will be available. I am waiting on this specifically before making any purchases.

PDF updates are included in the "Character Builder/ Sheet Improvements" phase that is in progress now. You'll start seeing changes there following the Backgrounds revamp and companions support. We'll keep everyone updated!
Looks good... only had a few minutes to take a peek, but my first inclination would be that your class / racial abilities could be expanded on.
I.E. I made a random character that came up with a Lvl 10 Cleric/Ranger/Sorcerer I get the following list: (sorry so long)
Sorcerer: - Draconic Resilience - Dragon Ancestor - Hit Points - Proficiencies - Sorcerous Origin - Spellcasting - Sorcery Points Cleric: - Bonus Proficiency - Disciple of Life - Divine Domain - Hit Points - Proficiencies - Spellcasting - Channel Divinity - Channel Divinity: Preserve Life Ranger: - Favored Enemy - Hit Points - Natural Explorer - Proficiencies - Fighting Style - Spellcasting - Hunter’s Prey - Primeval Awareness - Ranger Archetype - Ability Score Improvement - Extra Attack Racial Traits: - Darkvision - Keen Senses - Fey Ancestry - Trance - Elf Weapon Training - Mask of the Wild
I'd really like the descriptions as well.
Some of these aren't needed (spellcasting / proficiencies / hit points, etc)
But Disciple of life... kind of important to know what it does "Also starting at 1st level, your healing spells are more effective. Whenever you use a spell of 1st level or higher to restore hit points to a creature, the creature regains additional hit points equal to 2 + the spell’s level."
Could be abbreviated somehow. We all have out favorite sheets, and one of the reasons I like some of them is when I enter a class feature, racial trait, feat, etc.. it autofills some good info for me.
This would be HUGE help to beginning players. And would cut down on the amount of editing needed to get the sheet to be in a workable format for the table.
I would like to second this, I have only just started playing DnD and used the starter pack character sheet and this has fewer items in the Features & Traits section but it does have a description which if the export sheet had it would save me having to check or remember details such Disciple of life, Dwarven toughness/ resilience.
I suppose it should also be mentioned, some background also have benefits, like Nobles which gives you respect in towns and access to other nobles.
They all give you benefits, like the Entertainer can get free room and board, as long as they perform, and the locals of areas where they've performed are friendly to you. Haunted Ones have people come to your aid in a crisis. Sailors get free passage fir the party on friendly ships, as long as you're willing to help with the duties. You get the idea.
One more vote for short details of the class features on the printed sheet- having to look it up at the table is painful enough that we don't use dnd beyond for our table. Without enough details to jog your memory its not functional.

P.S. Just putting this in a couple threads since I wasn't sure which was the most appropriate

For some reason the portraits aren't exporting inside the character sheet PDF
