"Umm... sure," he realises his actions and words were twisted around, "the Half-Orc didn't like it, but it wasn't her I was helping. Or, perhaps, I helped her more than her own pride would let her admit. But a tavern brawl is a messy business once it begins to spread. Chairs, mugs - even tables sometimes - are all used as weapons and end up broken. Think of the owner of the place - do you think the brawlers will acquiesce to pay for the damage? Also, once it gets out of control, everyone inside becomes a part of the brawl. You can't just stand near the wall and wait - a flying chair is likely to crush on you." He thinks for a moment. Even so, if that is how she viewed it... "At least, I hope, we can agree it is a neutral act? Still not bad. But, if you don't understand what I mean, just ignore it." He watches as Inaric loses and Topaz wins. "You have a strong friend there - to beat someone who beat Inaric isn't something everyone can do. I wouldn't want him as my opponent, that's for sure."
"We all have out talents and strengths..." Kassar replies to Vyrax, "There are not many who could diffuse such a situation with simple words. Certainly it is not one of my talents, though it is pleasant to find another who would prefer to avoid conflict, if possible." He closes his eyes for a moment, as he slumps down in his chair, clearly more relaxed that he had been up to this point. "I must admit, though I rarely enjoy crowds, it has been enjoyable to converse this evening."
There's a bit of time as Cami analyzes everything Vyrax told her, and she comes up with a quick answer. "I can commend you on your skills. On the decision of intruding in the fight and possibly attracting the attention of Xanathar Guild members? Questionable. If only for the latter part." It is then that she looks up at her owl. Without any words again, the owl flies back down and sits on her shoulder. "You mean Topaz? He works at a mine, so it'd make sense that strength would be one of his skills. Perhaps not to that extent, as I was also surprised he actually did it."
Ianric clears his throat, several excuses coming to his mind but he just groans "I'd be a hypocrite to ***** when I just said the thing about the other idiot. Barkeep, one fire ale for Yagra here please." Getting out his coin purse and paying the cost for the drink and handing it to her after she lost to Topaz. He couldn't help but let out a chuckle "I wore you out indeed it seems Yagra. I'm Bearhug Ianric, what brings you here besides nearly beating the shit out of a little one?."
(Edit: Will wait to let others get a turn for posting in but Ianric is gonna pay for it with a silver and let them keep the change.)
"Oh, definitely. I'm coming at you fresh next time, buddy!" Yagra says to Topaz, then turns to Ianric."Hey, look here, Bearhug, I was just minding my own business having a drink when cue-ball threw a punch. Not my fault. Probably trying to look tough in front of his goons. Xanathar scum, they're all the same. Tough at the top, but once they meet a little resistance they scurry like rats. Cowards. Hey, Bonnie!"
A young, red-haired human server approaches the table quietly. Yagra hands her some coin. "Mead for this fella, here."
"Thanks, Ms. Bonnie!" Topaz chirps, taking a celebratory drink as he walks back to the group table.
"Ahh. (sip sip) That was fun. Glad that fight didn't get too" (burp) "'scuse me - get too out of control."
The genasi thinks for a bit. "Hm. Today's Hammer the 1st. I'd been wondering, most of the months in our calendar sound really cool, y'know?" (sip) "Y'know, 'Flamerule', 'Marpenoth', 'Kythorn', stuff like that. And then we've got..."
Topaz reaches into his pack, dropping a small mallet onto the table for emphasis. "Hammer. Whoever named them kind of dropped the ball on that one, right? All those cool and slightly mysterious-sounding names, and then a tool used to hit things." (sigh) "Weird."
(not gonna even try formatting on my phone, if I remember I'll edit it in tomorrow)
*The goliath gives a shrug and a chuckle.* "I would rather have let you two fight it out! A fist fight is a great competition and should be fair one on one in a bar. Reduces the likelihood of property damage and a much higher bill than just a lost drink eh?" *Seeming to pointedly ignore Topaz as though that would somehow ease the sting of his loss to her.*
"You got that right... Anyway -"Yagra begins, but a roar from the large well in the center of the tavern cuts her off. Everything falls silent as the noise grows closer and closer. An elf looks over the edge and yelps.
"Get away! Get away! Monster!" He shouts, and the Yawning Portal erupts into chaos as patrons flee out the door or up the stairs and a large, green hand grasps the lip of the low wall surrounding the passage to Undermountain. Another follows it, and a hideous monster with warty green skin, a tangled nest of wiry black hair, a long, carrot-shaped nose, and bloodshot eyes pulls itself up and climbs into the taproom. You can see that a half-dozen bat-like creatures are attached to its body, their long probosces stuck into the giant, and three more circle above it like flies. Crushed between the monstrosity's yellow teeth is the small arm of a halfling that was part of the adventuring party that just descended a short while ago; the creature slurps what is left of the adventurer down into its gullet, then lets out a roar.
Yagra curses and grabs at a crossbow someone must have dropped while Durnan, now wielding a greatsword that was once mounted on the wall behind the bar, vaults over the bar and prepares himself. "Troll!"
Everyone roll initiative. The Roll20 has been updated to show the battle map.
Vyrax is about to flee as well, but he then sees the rest are staying. Inaric in particular. Is this the moment Inaric will reveal whether or not his stories are true or just exaggerations?
It might seem foolish, but he draws his horn, rather than his blade. That rapier is just for show, really. He wasn't that good of a fighter.

(OOC: You say that too soon... Wait for 6 more levels, and I'll be able to mess with initiative. As a reaction. Which I can always just do after I see the result, so yeah, you're right. I have no preference. The delay is minimal, and sometimes it's harder for the DM to go checking every sheet for each character's initiative than it is for us to do it ourselves.)
Cami gets spooked by the loud noises and the imminent threat when she sees it. She kept it cool generally, but there's only so much chill she could have. There's no noise on her side until she sees the group standing up against the troll threat. "Might as well..." She gets up, her shield unprepared, just as her tools, but she could improvise a little.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: I'm good with you rolling our initiative. It's gonna be a good while before any of us can do things to mess with initiative regardless. Though we still all got it rolled quick which is awesome! Also have to make the reference: TROLLLL, FROM THE DUNGEON!)
No booze in his system and wanting to lash out a bit after his loss, the oddly pigmented Goliath eagerly draws his shield and one of his handaxes. Brave and eager as he was to get violent, the threat this other giant-kin posed was quite real given it had just finished consuming at least part of the last party. Both to try and eliminate one threat quickly and not get terribly close to the Troll right away all by himself, Ianric did his best to eyeball a hail Mary throw of his handaxe at one of the overgrown mosquitos, calling out "Catch with your face beast!"
Thrown Handaxe (Dis due to distance) at Stirge 1: 20 (Edit, yup did the thing very incorrect x.x. So actually a 12 to hit not a 20.)
The axe narrowly misses the creature, which buzzes angrily.
It is the Troll's turn!
The troll roars and thunders through the tavern, upturning tables, chairs, and anything else in its way as it lumbers over to the bar. It spends its action scraping off the stirges attached to it, but the other three stirges hovering over it use their reactions to make attacks of opportunity against it.
1) Attack: 23 Damage: 7
2) Attack: 20 Damage: 5
3) Attack: 21 Damage: 7
It is Yagra's turn!
Yagra joins Topaz behind the table and takes aim with her crossbow, trying to pick off one of the stirges. "Nasty little bastards!"
Attack: 12 Damage: 3
