"Well met Mythanthar, and sister Vohana. I do not need those back, they are copies from my originals, I would never travel with originals" Lhao smiles as he takes another drink from his ale.
Information for Vohana
OOC: Fire, you begin to dig through the materials and find a number of things pertaining to a man named Randal Morn, a text regarding the Zhentarim occupation of Daggerdale, as well as a few mentions of a Resistance Movement come up several times as well. Most intriguing of all however is mention of a magical sword called "The Sword of the Dales", the only two things mentioned in the writings here about the sword is that it is believed to have been created by a Wizard about 400 years ago named Shraevyn, and that it's two known properties are that it can open doors, locks, and manacles whenever a command word is spoken and that it can gift the wielder the ability to breathe underwater.
Vohana starts furiously writing notes in her journal, completely delving into her work, and forgetting there are others around her. "Randal Morn..." she mumbles as she writes. The Sword of the Dales. Something in her brain pings, and she doesn't quite know why. She looks up momentarily, scratching her chin thoughtfully, then continues to work about the scrolls. "So much information. Mmmhmm, interesting." Without taking her eyes off her work, she grabs a goblet of wine and takes a quick drink. "Well, I should like to get my hands on this sword. What an amazing artifact! And the powers it bestows! Incredible!" Pausing, she looks up, narrowing her eyes at Lhao. "What... does... this... have... to... do... with... us?" She's suddenly very cautious, knowing knowledge of this kind doesn't come for free.
"What is this 'urgent matter' that you wanted to discuss with us? And why us for that matter? To be honest, outside of Hjol's braggadocio, we are no one of any consequence, just humble adventurers." he indicates around the table to the rest of his party.
(OOC - bear with me as I flush out Myth's character and how I want to play him)
OOC: We haven't heard from a couple of the characters still, I will give them time to introduce as it were and then Lhao will respond. Also, of course we will "bear" with you, we are #ordoUrsa :)
"I am Bonleo Vyldove. Treasure hunter, adventurer, gamesman, and slayer of women's hearts everywhere." He give Ristra a sly look. "And this mighty Warrior is my personal wet blanket, Ristra the Reaver"
OOC: If my memory serves we are just missing introductions from Ristra and Guldrum. I will give them till a bit later and then I will move the story along :D
Lhao listens to the rest of the gathered party, quietly sipping his ale. Soon the inn has all but cleared. Jhaele and Turko move quietly about the room, clearing the last few tables. Lhaeo, now on his second glass of mead, tips his head back and takes a deep drink. He then leans in close and begins his tale.
"What I am about to tell you must go no further than this room" he begins. "The Zhentarim will undoubtedly learn of this story soon enough, but there is no reason to give to them what they should uncover themselves. Do I have your word?" Lhao waits for a nod of affirmation from each party member before continuing.
"Three weeks ago a group of warriors led by Randal Morn, rightful ruler of Daggerdale, was attacked as they left the crypt of Shraevyn, a longdead wizard. Some among you may have heard of Shraevyn, the weapons-mage, in your studies." Lhao's gaze shifts to Vohana and his eyes glimmer as he lets a small smile cross his face."He was a good wizard who served the Dales back in the late 900's. By all reports, he was wise and just, and he is credited with creating some of the most unique and powerful magical items of the era. According to popular legend, Shraevyn created a powerful long sword, known as the Sword of the Dales, just before his death. This weapon was rumored to have a variety of special powers. No one remembers exactly what the sword could do, but in my research I've managed to uncover a few of its reported properties. First, the sword can part chains and manacles when its wielder speaks the word merrydale. It also enables its wielder to breathe underwater while holding it. Other than those two powers, I have little else to offer you."
Taking another sip of his mead, the scribe continues his tale, interrupted only by the light swish of a broom and the clinking of clean mugs being stacked at the bar by Turko.
"Randal must have believed that possession of this sword would put him in a better position to free Dagger Falls from the hands of the Zhentarim, for he led the adventuring group into the tomb himself. According to Ariton, a loyal servant and the lone survivor of the expedition, Randal successfully freed the sword from a horde of undead that were within Shraevyn's tomb. The group was ambushed as they left the crypt by a Zhent force of mages who had somehow learned of Randal's expedition. They nearly defeated the free Dalesmen, but Randal wielding the Sword of the Dales crushed them and their magical creations with minor injuries to his party. What happened next was totally unexpected and ultimately fatal for the group. Although it happened quickly, Ariton was able to provide some useful information. Undead mostly skeletons but a few ghouls and zombies as well rose from the earth. The Dalesman watched in horror as his doomed friends fell before the onslaught. He also caught a glimpse of an odd emerald light that struck Randal to the ground. Ariton insists that Randal was still breathing but unable to move after this attack. Smart enough to realize he could not fight all of the undead alone, Ariton managed to escape undetected and flee to Elminster's tower for assistance. He gave me a sword not the Sword of the Dales, but an enchanted blade nonetheless that he recovered from the tomb in return for a meal and some healing potions. He has since returned to Daggerdale to inform the freemen of what transpired. "
Clasping his hands before him, Lhaeo leans in and sets his gaze upon each of you in turn.
"The Realms needs heroes, right here and right now. I ask you to go and rescue Randal Morn"
A long silence fills the air before Lhaeo speaks again.
"I can offer you this magical sword and a few potions if you are willing to accept this dangerous quest. In addition, you will be granted some land in the Shadowdale area when you return Randal Morn to his people alive. Do you have any questions?"
"I'll ask the obvious question. Ye say we need ta bring 'im back alive. He was livin' when yer friend left, aye? Doesn't mean 'e wasn't gobbled up by those dead walkers afta. I'm all fer a rescue mission. I'm just sayin' ther might not be anyone ta rescue is all. Ya gotta be kowin' it." Ruvenel says this last part almost apologetically.

Ristra rolls her eyes at Bonleo and continues to survey the patrons of the tavern. 'Surely someone in here has a bounty on their head' she thinks to herself.
Lhao nods, "The loss of Randal Morn would be a great one for the Dales. If you do find him dead then you will still receive payment upon proof of his death"
"But why us....specifically. When you arrived in the tavern it appeared as if you were searching for us. What have we done to garner such attention from the scribe of Elminster?"
OOC: If my memory serves we are just missing introductions from Ristra and Guldrum. I will give them till a bit later and then I will move the story along :D
((OOG Andy was off yesterday, so Guldrum might not be on until later lol I think he brought us all ales, maybe he's just sitting quietly at the table? lol #NotAllMutants ))

Vohana didn't care about the rest, all she wanted was to inspect the sword. "Is... is this the sword? May I see it," she gasped, eyes wide as dinner plates.

OOC: Did Lhao ignore a question you had asked Gmoat? I looked back and saw Hjol made a crack about who trained him, but then said he needed to explain what services were needed which he did. If I missed something I do apologize.
Lhao looked to each in the group, and to the sword on the table. "This is not the Sword of the Dales..."
Sliding the sword out of its sheath and holding it up with his left hand, Lhao picks up a table knife with his right hand and points to some of the runes near the hilt.
"This blade is only lightly enchanted, but it should prove beneficial in combat. The runes here labeled it as a ceremonial Blessed Blade. You must decide amongst yourselves who will wield it." OOC: Vohana your Arcana check reveals that the blade grants the effects of a Bless spell once per day, and will act as a magical weapon to overcome resistance.
He returns the blade to the table. "As to the question of why you, I must admit I struggled with the thought of handing off such an important task to, if you'll forgive me, such green adventurers. However time is of the essence, and from what I have seen, and admittedly found in my own research, each of you are capable and good people. I know the task I set before you is a large one, and will be filled with peril. I will give your group a moment to discuss and then I will need an answer as to whether you are willing to save the rightful ruler of Daggerdale." Lhao steps away from the table and heads up to the front counter to grab another mug of skull ale and speaks with Jhaele while you discuss.
"We ain't got nothin' betta ta do, and I ain't got no leads fer... my other thing. We might as well help." Ruvenel shrugs and looks to the rest of the group.
