The town of Greenest was founded by the halfling Dharva Scatterheart, a rogue who fancied herself the queen of the Greenfields. Scatterheart passed away without ever achieving that level of eminence, but her town grew into a thriving community. Its success isn’t surprising since Greenest is the only town of any size astride the Uldoon Trail, the most direct road between the eastern cities of the Dragon Coast, Cormyr, and Sembia with the Coast Way running south to the great cities of Amn, Tethyr, and far Calimshan. The trade caravans that pass through Greenest bring gold to the town’s merchants and craftsfolk, and Governor Nighthill runs the town at the behest of the inhabitants.
Following one specific caravan, however, is a strikingly unique individual. The merchants know her as Savra Silverstream, a traveling bard with a dazzling singing voice. She's been accompanying the caravan to Greenest for the last few days, to no complaint of the merchants.
Three wagons roll down a paved dirt road under a beautiful summer sky. The wind drifts lazily across the rolling grasslands of the Greenfields, bringing the voices and chatter of the wealthy halfling merchants in the wagons. Savra walks alongside the wagons, though her purpose in reaching Greenest would be far greater than anyone would suspect...

Savra walks alongside the foremost wagon, her auburn hair fluttering in a slight breeze. She has her flute at her hip, and wears an embroidered tunic that goes down to past her knees. Over the tunic she wears a fine cloak, that goes down nearly as far as the tunic. She smiles as a songbird trills just off the road, lifting her flute to respond in-kind to the bird. A rapier hangs at her other hip, and a shortbow rests over one shoulder, the quiver of arrows near-at-hand.
As she lowers the flute, a scattering of applause comes from the nearby wagon and she turns to them, giving a dazzling smile to the merchants there. with a flourish she curtsies deeply, flaring out her cloak with practiced ease.
The halfling merchants are spirits' are lifted after a stunning performance from Savra, and with high energy the caravan continues traveling to Greenest. Instead of stopping to make camp, the merchants are determined to reach Greenest by nightfall and finally sleep in a comfortable bed at an inn.
Sundown is approaching when you top a rise and see the town of Greenest just a few short miles away. But instead of the pleasant, welcoming town the merchants spoke about, you see columns of black smoke rising from burning buildings, running figures that are little more than dots at this distance, and a dark, winged shape wheeling low over the keep that rises above the center of the town. Greenest is being attacked by a dragon!
The merchants horses' are spooked by the acrid smell of smoke, and a frantic chatter emerges over what to do. The leading merchant, a well-dressed halfling man, stands to the front of the wagons and yells, "The town isn't safe! We have to turn the wagons around and get out of here!"
A scarred guard watches the scene next to Savra. He says to her, "Time to leave, ma'am. After this blows over, there ain't going to be an audience for a performance anyways."

Savra stands atop the rise for a long moment, staring at the scene below. They couldn't believe they were late, did the cult know they were on the move, and had they moved up their timetable to account for it. Savra shook herself, there was no way anyone would know that they still lived, let alone that they were coming to this place. Brushing auburn hair behind an ear, Savra glanced to the gard next to her when they speak.
"I'd say you should get your charges away from here as quickly as you can." She informs him with a nod of her head. "I'll be moving on towards the town though, and see if there are those here that I can aid." Turning back to the scene ahead Sabra's eyes trace the flight of the winged shape above the town. "I think people will be needing my music here far more than on your dash back to the safety of the last town." She informs the guard, then steps away, heading away from the merchant wagons and towards the town ahead. She pauses though, glancing back to the guard. Her eyes drift down to the weapon sheathed at the man's side. "If you have skill with that, I could use a sword at my side, if you have any wish to aid those ahead, and help me do what can be done for them..."
The guard's eyebrows raise as he hears the resolve and confidence in Savra's voice. Feeling quite conflicted, he glances back at the retreating merchant caravan before resting his eyes on the scene of terror and chaos in Greenest. He sighs.
"Well, I can't just abandon all those folk in town. I'd never forgive myself for it. I'll follow you to the outskirts, bard, but no further than that. If you can bring people to me, I can lead them back to safety at the caravan."
With that, he draws his shortsword and points at Savra.

"Let's find you a place to wait for me, and I'll see what I can do about bringing some of the town's inhabitants to you."
Savra would look to move stealthily up to the village, but not sure what options there are for cover as they approach.

The two of you approach the southern outskirts of Greenest. A dirt road leads to a stone bridge that crosses a stream that runs along the width of the town. Smoke in the air blots out the light of the setting sun and cries of fear and pain can be heard from all directions. Savra would note that the stream bed provides excellent cover, though it only runs along the south side of town, and there are plenty of buildings to hide behind.
There's a roar as the dragon comes down for another pass, releasing a burst of lightning. Savra can see that waves of unarmed civilians are running towards the safety of the sturdy keep on a hill in the center of town. The gate is opened and armed guards usher them insides, though the civilians are chased by people - mostly human, but some dwarves and halflings too - who wear strange purple uniforms and appear to be perpetrating the attack.
Anders yells out, drawing Savra's attention to 4 townsfolk huddling inside a smoldering house. "Savra, I'll take these ones back to the caravan. I can't go any farther than this, or I'll be trapped. You'll have to continue alone- there's more who need your help further in town."

I'll send any more I can in the same direction, so please keep an eye out for them." She waits until he is starting away. Once he has moved away she turns back to the town and her emerald eyes narrow in speculation. There is little she can do against the forces the cult brought against this place, but she recalls vividly when they came for her private squad that night. The husband appears to be an able physician and manages to coax Linan awake with the help of the kit.
Healer's Feat: Heals 11
Linan awakens, coughing and clutching her broken spear. That's when her children jump out and hug their mother. She smiles, and says to Savra, "I give you our greatest gratitude for helping me save my family. We are truly debt to you."
As if to drive home the point, one of the children, a little girl, hugs Savra as well.
When Linan stands up, the sun has now set, and the only light emanates from the burning houses and torches that the attackers carry. Linan says, "We have to go to the keep. It's the only place in town where it's safe. Governor Nighthill can tell us what's going on."
Meanwhile, her husband examines the bleeding wound on Savra's shoulder.
"You want me to help you with that? Here's a salve for your wounds, and a clean bandage too."
(If Savra agrees, she regains 14 hp)
