The door opens into a vaulted entry room, at least a dozen feet square and almost as tall. A hallway travels further into the house next to a wide stairway that leads up to the second floor.
One pair of double doors lead off to the right, and another set to the left.
The door opens into a large kitchen/dining room. Lying on the ground in front of the counter is the body of a smartly dressed middle-aged human woman. Spread out next to the table, next to an overturned chair is a similarly dressed middle-aged human man.
Since entering the Mournland you haven't smelled the scent of death or decay, despite observing multiple dead bodies. One of the strange things about the Mournland is that dead bodies don't decay or rot or show any signs of rigor mortis, etc. They just appear as lifeless. These bodies are the same.

"What ever attacked the Mournlands had to work on a massive scale." Omen says out loud. "To attack the entire land, affect all the inhabitants in this way...." Omen's voice trails off as he tries to comprehend what has happened.
Omen concentrates, trying to search his mind to see if he can spur any memory of what happened to him, his fellow knights and this land.
No one knows what happened on the Day of Mourning that would wipe out an entire nation and, eerily, stop just at the edge of the nation's political borders and not the natural geographical ones.
There are a number of theories however. One is that the artificers of House Cannith, with its headquarters in Cyre, lost control of some magic weapon they were constructing and it destroyed Cyre. Another is that the attack on Cyre was an intentional weapon used by one of Cyre's enemies, but when they saw how effective it was, they decided to hush it up and not accept responsibility. Some wizardly scholars believe that all the war magic and combat caused a Manifest Zone with Dolurrh, the plane of the dead. The most popular theory among the uneducated common folk, is that the Mourning was a punishment from the gods for the endless war and sent to force peace upon the people.

"It's unbelievable, how could someone commit such kind of crime?"-Jimena chastised an imaginary group of culprits while moving towards the lifeless bodies. She kneels beside them to investigate their clothings so that she can find something that will reveal their identities.
Omen picks up the stone and uses it on himself. He then goes to the doors and tries to open them.
