Sir Onyx's blade cuts deeply into the monster, and it screams in multivoiced pain.
Sir Garrion's shot, again, scrapes along the monster's flesh, drawing a thin line of all-too-human blood, but dealing only superficial damage.
The beast screams its frightened and frightening wail. Sir Omen and Sir Onyx are protected by Sir Glint's protective spell and Sir Garrion has shaken off its effects already. However Sir Glint is fully exposed to the monster's aberrant howl.
(Sir Glint, please make a DC 13 wisdom saving throw, or be frightened).
The seemingly unthinking monster continues to thrash its tentacles at Sir Onyx and Sir Glint.
Against Sir Onyx: 1st tentacle. Attack: 24 Damage: 8. 2nd tentacle. Attack: 23 Damage: 7
Against Sir Glint: 1st tentacle. Attack: 8 Damage: 6. 2nd tentacle. Attack: 21 Damage: 10.
As the two tentacles smash into him, Onyx stumbles back for a moment. "Stupid abomination! FALL! HOW DARE YOU HIT ME!" He feints up and then swings low (feinting attack).
Sir Onyx's first cut slices through another tentacle. The monster rears back in pain screaming it's inhuman cry, this causes Sir Omen's arrow to fly wide of the monster. It rises up over Sir Onyx ready to attack with its remaining tentacles when Sir Garrion's arrow strikes the beast directly in one of it's largest eyes.
With an anticlimactic suddenness, the monster falls over and lies still. There is a bubbling, gurgling sound as the beast "deflates." Blood and some other, unknown liquids drain from the monster that seemingly has no internal bones or real musculature.
"Horror, and malice and sheer instinct to devour. Nothing about that was okay and we need to be ready for that... Or flame forbid worse, to happen again. Let's move."
Sir Glint sheaths his blade and shakes his head before straightening up
As the creature falls, Onyx doesn't stop slashing the creature for a good 30 seconds. "Disgusting creature," he says kicking the lifeless abomination. He sits down and begins to clean his weapon of the beasts blood. "That made a lot of noise, should there be anything else in this town still alive, it will know we are here."
(If you're interested to know more about the creature, you can roll an Arcana check)
The gurgling of the creature finally stops and the silence that falls after is total. The only sounds apart from the knights themselves is the very faint splash of the waves against the dock.
Sir Omen recognizes Lord Corus ir'Tarravan's residence at the end of the block where he and the original party with Sir Alain and Sir Tenarn the Bright sheltered when they first arrived here at Cape Verde in the dead of night.

"Okay, keep a sharp eye, but we need to recover and take inventory" Sir Glint is hitting his stride as a leader and begins moving toward the building (quietly)
Onyx knows he isn't good at being stealthy so he follows Sir Glint from a distance. He looks over the beast one last time to see if there is anything useful on it
The knights approach the large house. The inside is the spacious kind of beach house common among the upper classes. A large red soarwood door opens into a wide open space that contains a living area with vaulted ceilings and extends all the way to the back of the house that ends in floor to ceiling windows showing what would have been a gorgeous view of the Sound that now looks out upon the grey mists bordering the Mournland. Everything seems to be in perfect working order, as though the family had simply stepped out, and would be back in a moment. But, somewhat horrifically, the family is still there. If not for their blank stare, and the lack of breath, they could be asleep.
A distinguished gentleman, of almost 60 winters, lays slackjawed in a massive, throne-like bronzewood chair that looks out the massive windows. A similarly aged woman with elaborate make up and embroidered fur-lined robes is collapsed on the floor next to him. On a gilded and well-cushioned fainting couch, a youngish woman, in her mid-20's lies in repose in an expensive looking dress of shimmering silk.
Sir Omen recognizes Lord Corus ir'Tarravan, his lady wife, and their daughter. Another memory is jogged loose at the sight.
You have a memory of the family hosting the knights, sharing a fine vintage of wine with them prior to their mission. You remember Sir Alain ordering Sir Jimena to remain in Cape Verde to be ready to secure passage back to Thrane. She was to stay here with Lord Corus ir'Tarravan's family.

"What was that thing?" he asks outloud.
