Thom responds to the blinded elf "We don't know how deep it is though, yeah? We may not even need to swim. I mean... it's a risk I'm more likely to take as the days in here add up that's for sure."
Thom would take a look at his chains as well, specifically the ones connecting his wrists and the upper one to his neck and lower one to his groin to see if there are any links in the chain in any of those parts that look like he might be able to break with a good smack against a rock or something should he decide to try.
Io saw the plan forming and she was cautious to talk but she had to say something "Is it too late to say that I can't swim? Quite hard to do when you are feeling like you are in absolute zero" she looks at Thom "unless you are ready to literally swim while carrying someone that is screaming her life out and that is probably studying your body, it's a necessary study for the advancement of society!"
After even just a few hours in manacles, you'd have realized that it would prove difficult to fight effectively while wearing them.
• Attack rolls against the creature have advantage, and the creature’s Attack rolls have disadvantage. • The creature has disadvantage on Dexterity Saving Throws.
Lia has only a passing knowledge of the any raven themed goddesses, not really much more than that there is one, and it make sense her symbol would be a raven.
Lex, if you're just trying to judge if you could, give me an Investigation, if you are actually trying to break loose, give me a straight Strength check. Thom, you can give me an Investigation check as well.

"Hmm? Oh... I'm no diver, and I just got here, but if you all are planning on getting out, I've no interest in sticking around! Death smashing into rocks sounds better than being sold into slavery or eaten by spiders!"
A pair of quaggoth servants lugs the urn of broth to the iron gate, where they are dismissed by the scar faced drow accompanying them, heading down the passage to the right. He steps closer to the bars, looking around the slave pen in distaste before pointing at the drow prisoner and speaking in Elvish.
"Sarith! I'd have words!"
The drow frowns in anger before shuffling toward the pars. The scarred drow gestures to his right, his hands in front of his body, and hidden from the watch tower. The drow prisoner pauses, before shuffling along the wall, staying in the shadows. They have an exchange in whispered elvish, and the scarred drow begins ladling bowls of broth full, passing them through the bars, the drow prisoner taking his and returning to his spot against the wall, occasionally glancing up and scanning the group.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hearing the elvish being spoken and mention of Sarith, who he thinks is the drow prisoner, Galingal edges closer to the bars to see if he can overhear what is being said.

@DM, is that broth the same fungus soup crap that the rest of us got? If it isn't, Thom would say to the scarred drow, in Elvish "HEY! Why does he get the good stuff, yeah??"
If it is the same broth, then Thom would've also tried to listen to the Elvish conversation, not particularly because of the name mentioned, but just because he's slightly annoyed that a guard is telling a prisoner a secret or at least talking quietly and in Elvish.
"The waterfall doesn't seem like our best option, no. We need to get out of these chains and get some weapons to have an alternative. The drow is up to something, maybe something we an use."
If the drow allows her, she will grab another bowl for the myconid and carefully and slowly place the bowl near its feet, saying in soothing undercommon,
"Have something to eat, ye have to keep yer strength up."
(I am guessing Stena knows they eat but isn't exactly sure how they eat?)
Eldeth nods, and when Stena goes to get her bowl, if she gestures at the myconid, he'll nod and hand you a second bowl.
Thom:
You can tell that the whispered conversation in elvish and the furtive gestures aren't intended to hid anything from the other slaves, but to hide the interaction from the guards in the watch tower across the bridge.

Stena shakes her head in disgust at Lex's failure. She says quietly to the myconid,
"Be good, aye'll we'll talk later."
Stena moves back over to Eldeth and asks in quiet dwarven,

Hmmmm... lemme see these chains. Maybe there's some weaker links somewhere
Thom thinks to himself as he looks at his chains. All of the connecting ones, so the wrist one as well as the one going to the neck and the groin.
Investigation 18
Stena sees everyone looking at their chains and decides to, surreptitiously, check out hers.
