Grianne has arrived at the school, she had found many of her fellow contestants before, but some of them may be missing. It seems in the mayhem after the meteor, she has lost alot her gear. No matter as she still has her magic, though it seems surviving said meteor has taken its toll and she seems to not have the strength to cast many of her stronger spells. Claws will have to do, though that was always a prefered choice of her.
She looks around for her boyfriend Eldin. He survived she thought, but is he still around?

Eldin walks slowly Eider's school. With it being one of the only places still standing. Something feels very very wrong. He raises up a hand to cast Cure Wounds on himself but it doesn't seem to do anything. His bag feels strange. He empties it out to find everything destroyed in it. He gets a strange feeling and checks his magical equipment. Nothing. It seems that whatever that destroyed the town also destroyed his equipment. He also feels very much weakened and magical healing does not seem to do anything to restore his lost abilities. Was he the only one who was effected or were there others? He does not want to feel completely unarmed now that he realizes his equipment is of no use. He quickly and quietly begins salvaging the ruins. He finds that he is having trouble finding his footing. The meteor left him weaker than he thought. His ability to hide has essentially been cut in half. Even so, he is good at hiding. He salvages some equipment and even finds an uncommon magic item that still works. "Good Haul. Could be better but this will have to do."
Now armed and slightly more dangerous, Eldin enters the school. He scans the crowd. Looks like a lot of people survived. That is good. He spots Grianne and quickly rushes up to her. He asks, "I'm glad to see you're still here. Is everything alright? All my equipment got destroyed."
Sora resides in the school moving a few books around and reading some, recently she had become one of eider's recent apprentices, she looks over seeing the connection Eldin and grianne had made her smile a bit. Turning to the door she looks waiting for Marvarax to return. She knew he had survived, but he was currently out searching for survivers

(@Eider: It's been so long that I cannot remember. But, was UA stuff allowed?)
(Also, though I hate to be that guy, as far as the ban on "allies"/summons from abilities at least, I assume that includes Familiars, Artificer's Steel Defenders and Bard College of Creation(assuming UA is allowed)'s dancing object (as examples) as well?)
Mazara was not one to lose his nerve. And yet, he never arrives at the school. Some would say they swore they saw the ebony warrior in passing aiding those in reaching the center of order within the chaos, only to be swallowed up by a ray of light. As for Marmaduke, a sort of dwarven gambling broker, though small time compared to most, the gold dwarf has yet to be found.
There are yet plenty of others about still gathering at the school. One such whose untimely arrival in town marches strides forth with a purpose nurtured perhaps by the tragedy. A creature of metal and wood and stone bearing the symbol of the Red Knight etched into its shield, a bow at its back, and fairly tall and lithe figure... of Dreadwood
(Still re-working my character since the level 3 start, but should have one up before arena launch. I would offer to help with DMing as well, but I'd be far too green to be much help there, me thinks EliteHatter.)
As people hustle about moving debris and rubble from pathways, searching for lost items or loved ones, one of them seems a bit out of place. He wears a tunic of black and white stripes, white gloves, and black trousers. His face is unnaturally pale except for the stark black features of his round eyes, mouth, and eyebrows. This odd character stoops to lift a heavy stone and struggles. As he lifts the payload, it's suddenly apparent that it is completely invisible. He nearly falls over under the weight, opening his mouth to cry out, but there is no sound. The odd fellow regains his balance and continues with his unseen load.
Swigg Mgoo walks into the school. All former prizes destroyed, he has no other choice but to sit in a corner and tune his guitar and wait for a chance to regain his tools.
Scarab on Pride, having become much more powerful, decides the time has come to move on and try to find his homeland again. He leaves on Sandy Wind, his warhorse, with his few possessions. His eyes are bright with hope and his smile is full of joy as he leaves the town where he lived for so long.
OOC: It's so hard to pick a new character! I've narrowed it down to four classes but I just can't decide...
Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
Sha'kar digs frantically through the rubble for a while, before his shoulders finally slump in defeat, accepting that his rapier is gone for good. He slowly stands and looks around at the destruction. After watching other townsfolk or newcomers for a while, and seeing many heading into the school, Sha'kar heads that direction himself.
OOC: Could you give us a refresher on how stealth and perception work in this campaign?

Eldin says, "Wait so it happened to you too? I feel a lot weaker. Like, I'm much worse at doing a lot of the stuff that I can normally do and there are other things that I just can't get right no matter how much I try. Also I seem to have lost a good chunk of my magic. What do you suppose caused this? Do you think it might be related to that vision of 'buttons' you told me about?"
For the Artificer, nothing on it shows to be too outrageous. Especially compared to some stuff the relatively comparable Beast Master can do. So Artificer and its 1 companion will be allowed. I'm iffy on the self-created magic items, but I'll cross that bridge when it gets here.
Perception v Stealth. Ok, since 5e wasnt built with PvP in mind this is a bit tricky. As a ruling too far in either direction either completely invalidates the stealth mechanic for Rouges or other classes who'd use it. Or makes it nigh impossible to fight someone 1v1 who is able to stay out of sight.
For this I'm thinking of allowing a special Reaction perceptuon roll to all characters against a character who utilize stealth. This way it isn't a "Free" check as hiding does consume action economy, it's only fair any contest would also require some action to do. Passive perception will still be a thing as well. This was spells, abilities, and items that allow for better hiding can still be used. While giving opponents at least a chance to find them. Albeit at the cost of Shield spells or Attacks of Oppurtunity. Also keep in mind there are requirements to actually Hide from enemies.
This is just a 1st draft idea. I am open to any and all suggestions. I want whatever will allow for the most fun for everyone here.
If you are stealthing or acting in a manner you do not wish your opponent to be aware of PM me or place your actions in a spoiler. If you act so your opponent will be aware of your action, or must save post it publicly. We'll see how this works out and tweak it as we go.
If a character is unaware of your action it will need to beat their passive. For instance Stealth will go against the opponent's passive Perception or Investigation, unless you were fighting and moved out of sight to Hide. Then it would be contested
Just asking for clarification here, can the uncommon magic item be an armor or weapon?
Yes it can. That was to say you are allowed plate or studded leather as well as an uncommon such as a wand, cloak, or pair of boots.

I assume artificer companions are banned as well?

Let me look at the Artificer. Mage familiars are not banned, but provide minor or situational buffs.
I'll have a final answer before tommorow on Artificer.

I believe BDaddly had a system already in place for stealth. I don't remember the exact rules but it's in the campaign page.
I'll go look at that. Ty
Edit, there is a ruling in place:
