"You seem a little too relaxed. Like we aren't upto the calibre of your usual adversary."Goran hisses at the rider. "I've often found a lazy dog often gets bitten by its fleas". The magic flows from his mouth as he finishes his words.

Brundt straightens up and drops the other two stones in his hand, surveying the impromptu battlefield. Content that there is no more immediate action, he stoops over and reaches to pull off the rider's mask, curious to see if he has similar markings upon his face. He looks to the other travelers to see if any of them show any interest in getting in his way, and then returns to the first rider. He holds the two masks up side by side, comparing them, and then gets out a book and quill to begin the work of jotting down the strange symbols upon the rider's face.
"What a delightful little mystery," Brundt muses to himself, quickly becoming absorbed in his work.
Brundt closes his book with a heavy thud, but remains crouched for a moment, considering. "Aye, I can help." He straightens up and walks over to Diana. "θερᾰπεύω!" He holds out his hands, the air around his palms shimmering as if the were radiating an intense heat.
His hands now just 6 inches away, he makes no move to come any closer. "Just one thing," he says, clearly withholding his healing magic. "I would very much like to get this horse to the polis in one piece. So I help you, you help me." He looks meaningfully at the vicious gash, and then looks eyes with Diana. "Because that looks like something you may want to have dealt with sooner rather than later."
Brundt looks around, confusion turning to a subdued glee. "Oh, something's happening. Something is happening indeed. Come on, you. Let's get going."Absorbed in his thoughts, and not caring that Diana hasn't agreed to help him yet, Brundt places a shimmering finger at either end of her wound, not quite touching her skin. Sparks of magic travel down the gash from both directions, meeting in the middle and knitting together skin and tissue in their wake.

He then promptly turns about and walks back over to the horse. Taking up squat opposite Abrotodon, he rubs his hands together, refreshing the magical emanations from his hands. He hovers a hand over the horse's head, and the other over its chest."θερᾰπεύω!"

As he works his magic, he addresses Abrotodon, not bothering to look up at her. "Did you by any chance just experience something strange? Something... out of the ordinary?"
DIana, coming over to help with the horse as she can, overhears and responds, "Oh, that happened to you too? That fading? I thought that was death coming for me. Thanks for the help."

Brundt's shout snaps Goran back to the now. "Ahh, yeah. You mean you all saw that too?" He appears quite surprised that it affected more than himself. "I thought it was just me, again".
He glances around to look for his benefactor. Seeing his lordship busy fluffing about with the other have-alls, Goran figures he still has a few moments to spend with this odd group of travellers. "Those masks make anyone else uneasy? They're creepy as the 7th hell"
" They're people wearing funerary masks. I thought creepy was the intended effect."
" You feeling better, Diana?"
She looked over to where the bodies were being checked, " Anything interesting on them? Should we bury them? Travellers don't need to be seeing bodies on the road."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((Sorry, I had accidentally rolled with advantage when I shouldn't have. Went to change that, and realized the error message about changing dice rolls...so deleted it, and at the risk of messing things up even further...I'll just post it all again, and you tell me what you want to do.))
(That would be another Arcana check on the grey event.)
(You can do a value check on the masks, probably Wisdom, and you can add a proficiency bonus.)
You pick up one of the masks from the fallen rider, examining it carefully. You begin to realize with horror that these are gold funery masks, and that the riders are Returned, sentries sent from the Underworld.

"Hate to be the bearer of ill news, but I think these are creatures from the underworld..."Klopas announces in reply. "I'll still need a few moments for examination, but yes...we should probably do something with the bodies."

Klopas dissipates the fire his from hand with a flick of the wrist.
"Well, so much for learning anything through discourse..." he mutters with a sigh.
Taking a moment to look around, he eventually rests his gaze upon the workings of Brundt.
That one's interesting, albeit strange... He thinks to himself.
The breeze can still be felt rustling Klopas' clothing and hair. 'The quiet after the storm' was a way many described this moment and feeling.
While quietly watching Brundt's work, Klopas also takes a moment to reflect on the riders and situation himself.
"Do any of you have any gift at healing?" Diana calls out while blood seeps from a wicked wound.

Abrontodon cheers a little at seeing Diana and the horse healed, " Like a gray hangover? Only lasted a moment."
"Mhmm, mhmm," Brundt nods to himself upon hearing from Diana and Abrotonon. "It's all starting to coming together."
"And how about you?!" he calls out to Klopas and Goran. "Did either of you experience a... 'grey hangover' just now?"
Klopas, semi-aware of his surroundings and yet lost in thought, nods slowly in response to both the question and happenings.
”I suppose I did..” he murmurs.
