Ev’alish points to the foot and paw prints. “I am not good with tracking, but I know some of you are. Are we looking at the tracks of the survivors, perhaps, or another attacking force?”
Jor will walk over to where Ev'alish points at the tracks. He will squat down to study them as he says, "I was a fairly skilled survivalist in my days as a Marine, I will take a look."
Khessa waits for Kramira, Ev'alish and Jor; as soon as they are ready she suggests: "We enter as well and follow Kan and Sorjen from distance? Maybe 10 or 15 steps behind them? Should they get spotted, alone, they could be in trouble."
Kramyra stops gazing at the stars trying to see anything up in sky, and looks to Khessa, "Good idea, I would hate for our new friends to be ambushed and us too far away to provide adequate help."
Jor replies, "Absolutely. We should give them more of a lead than ten of fifteen steps though, I personally am not very agile in my armor. I don't want to give them away by making too much noise nearby. I can provide protection for Sorjen from up to sixty feet away should he need it. I will hang back at about that distance. Does everyone remember the pre-agreed upon signal for help?" Jor looks to the others, awaiting a response. If there is none, he will quietly whistle the signal; a low note followed by a higher note, both then repeated once more.
Khessa tries the signal then points out: "With the bells non-stop ringing, our noises should be easily covered. I'll stay only 30 feet behind them (and drop to 60 if the commotion stops). Should there be danger, I wish to be able to run to them. I know, they seem quite agile, but their light armor makes me always feel a bit uneasy... I'd prefer to be ready to spare them some blow, if needed"
Kramyra responds to Jor’s discovery, “Let’s wait to hear what Kan and Sorjen have seen after they get back, and if the village is as quiet and ghost-like as it seems from here, shall we follow the humanoid tracks to see if they are in trouble?”
Jor will reply, "Agreed." In the mean time he will cast guidance on Kramyra, Ev'alish, Khessa, and himself if he has time (should only take about 24 seconds).
Once the group reconvenes, Ev'alish scowls. "Wolves. Just like the tracks. Seems giants aren't the only thing causing trouble around here. Perhaps we should take care of those two in the square."
He advanced, fast and, as far as he could tell, unnoticed. By the drawbridge he could see the true face of Nightstone, or what remained of it. Sorjen could smell the fear in the air. He could see the cause of it too. Or at least part of the cause, two large wolves devoured something by a now emptied square. No screams, he though looking the beasts finding. If their meal was someone of the village then this someone was dead. They can’t be alone. Wolves don’t enter human settlements of this size. Not by themselves. The two in the corner had been guided there, commanded there.
The ranger raised his right and waived with his hand for the others to approach. Ev'alish is the first to speak.
“They’re likely not alone. If we move to attack, we may be ambushed. I’m trying to check if there’s someone hiding, waiting to strike. Can you guys see anyone?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Khessa starts checking as well: Perception: 11 ( + 2 using guidance).
She also tries to assess the two stone watchtowers flanking the open gap in the palisade. Do they have doors? The doors are close or open, as far as we can see? Should we lure the wolves to one tower and Khessa stand just inside the tower door, only one wolf at a time should be able to stand in the threshold and attack her, right? And those who have ranged weapons could reach the tower's top and shot the wolves below without fear of retaliation... If this all makes sense, Khessa shares her plan with the others.
Jor will turn to Sorjen before he departs, place his hand on his shoulder, mutter a quick prayer to Talos, and grant Sorjen guidance on his efforts.
Sorjen may roll 1d4 and add the result to either of those checks.

“The church bells are ringing but the keep is damaged…? They must not have hunkered down together. We should get moving to the church.”
Kan starts trying to make out a clear escape route for the town from their position as we head in closer.

(Are these wolves literally size category Huge, or just above average?)
