While trying to recognize the voice from any of the people my family has interacted with before, (history 6), i say, "While i can understand that, i am wondering why you must do so from the shadows, especially because there are those in the area who are willing to give information about the cave in the hope of help."
ooc: i actually have a suspicion about who the stranger is, and am currently looking up the strengths and weaknesses of the yaun-ti...
Gus, seeing the rifles and muskets, raises an eyebrow, mumbling under his breath, “not my cup of tea, but I must remember to ask North DeRolo about acquiring a few of these before we embark for the cave, they could prove useful.”
To the group he says, “Where is the elf? It may be best if we stick together, Shawn’s experience at the cave is troubling, strength in number may be advantageous.”

OOC: I don't know your character's backstory, so I can't do anything for you on that history check.
"I'm aiming to research the cave, and what may be in it." The figure says.
One of the guards walks up to the figure, and the mysterious figure throws out a hand towards the guard, causing him to fall to the ground, clutching his skull and yelling out in pain.
I rush over to the fallen guard, and make a medicine check 19, trying to help the guard and looking particularly for both impact wounds, and especially for evidence of poison.

You find no physical wound on the man, but you can tell his mind has been attacked. His nose is bleeding, and the corners of his eyes are dripping blood. The other guard looks terrified. "Wh-what are you doing?!" The guard yells, holding his sword at the ready.
"The stranger hit him with something, i think he is a yaun-ti. He is not injured physically, but i think something attacked his mind, and yaun-ti have mental attack powers. Maybe we should try to track the stranger." survival 16
before we go, i pick up a bit of broken glass and insert it into my sword hand slightly, then tell the guard, "Yaun-ti can take over someones mind if they try, so if the Yaun-ti looks at me and i start attacking you, hit my hand as hard as you can, and it will drive the glass in, even through my mail, and make me incapable of using my sword."

"You make assumptions, Elf." The figure says, laughing. He points his hand towards the other guard, sending the guard to the ground, screaming, clutching his skull.
"Oh," Calder says to both the castle guards suddenly remembering something, "I noticed some sort of altercation between a hooded figure and a Goliath at the tree where Sir North was recruiting help. Have any idea who that may be - I know that's kinda vague."

I move my hand to my sword. I keep it sheathed, but i am ready to pull it out at any moment, and quickly pull out the glass. I ask, "why did you attack them?"
ooc: the stranger laughing, while yaun-ti do not experience emotion, as well as the surprisingly powerful mental abilities, have takes my mind off of yaun-ti and started me researching mind flayers...
Dark Sight might have gotten something about the uncut gem. "What is that thing?" she asked the gnome. Noticing the how distraught the young guard was, she loudly exclaimed. "See yourself soon to a cleric. You need it."The boy was in no fit state to patrol. "But before, we leave, I have one last question; anything strange happen in the town around the time of the disappearances?"Things like these came in pairs.
OOC: Kenari is still at the guard at the moment. This is the last question she has to the guard before moving away to teh group. BewaretheDragon, at what narrative point would you want me to join in with the others. Dootwaan, she has no idea what you found out for the gem. I assume, during the questioning, Gus moved away to rejoin the others?
OOC: Gus is still in the Barracks with Dark Sight and Kenari
Gus stops his inspection of the barracks, having found little of interest. Gruffly he says, “Leore has told us all he knows, let us meet with this North DeRolo and be on our way.”

"It's extremely volatile and reactive, like some kind of magical explosive powder condensed into this form, too much force applied may make it explode, and the more of it there is... the bigger the explosion." As he moves to the doorway he pauses for a second and says "You finish up here, I'll go alert the others." and then rushes back towards the castle gate, giving extra attention not to jostle his pack too much.

"You all were in my way. Not anymore." They throw their hand out at you. Make a Constitution saving throw.

OOC: I would say leave with Dark Sight, or a bit after.
You feel a searing pain in your skull, and take 7 psychic damage. You feel blood dripping from your nose and eyes. It's your turn to attack if you wish.
