"Are you some servant of the redbrand thugs?" Kathrine calls out, as it is clear this entity here has already detected them. "What power do they have over you?" She steps forward, searching for whatever made the sounds, and what could have sent thoughts into their heads.
The cleric's sharp eyes and insight serve her well, and she spots a figure skulking by the closer pillar. Sensing its detection, it moves fuller into view. It is a hunched creature that would stand roughly 5'7" if it weren't bent over, and rows of spines coat its back. A single acid green eye gleams in the darkness, staring directly at Kathrine. "Foood!" it mentally hisses. "They givses Narc food! Narc can help you if you givses better food!"
Kathrine:
You feel a mental force pushing against your consciousness. Give me a deception check.
Seeing the eye gleaming in the darkness, and having no doubts what so ever it can see him just fine, Gabriel casts light on his shield. Seeing the wicked looking creature he returns his hand to the hilt of his sword but doesn't draw his blade.
"What sort of food do you require?" Kathrine asks the creature as she feels the mental prodding. "Please stay out of my head as we discuss here, as it is not very polite to go rummaging through a person's private thoughts."
"Well I would bet we can get some of that for you." Kathrine says with a frown. "We don't like killing, or at least I prefer to find other means at least, but I doubt if these thugs will give up nicely. If you let us be, and agree to not harm us, we can surely allow you any of those we are forced to take out here." She shrugs. "I also would bet we can find a way to get you bones and such from the butchering of animals and such, from the village here. Would be a lot more frequent supply than I would think you are getting from these redbrands."
"I would imagine we can talk the villagers into bringing you the bones from the animals they butcher." Kathrine says with a glance to the creature. "Especially if you offer some service in trade."
Narc scrambles into the crevice, and returns with a battered wooden chest, which it dumps at Kathrine's feet. "Is good. Can have people in dead room. That way." It motions to the north of the cavern.
Inside the chest is an assortment of old coins (160 sp, 120 gp), 5 small green gems, a scroll, and two bottles containing a red-pink liquid. On top of all of this is a sword in a silver-chased scabbard. The silver hilt is worked in the image of a falcon in flight, with its body, tail and legs forming the grip and pommel, and the wings and head making a guard.
This is very generous of you." Kathrine says, giving the creature another bow of respect. She removes the coins, gemstones, and potion bottles, storing them in her pack to be split later. The sword she holds up. "Who would be able to make use of this?" She asks as she looks to the group.
(Does the blade 'feel' magical? Not sure if you are using the rules for that from the DMG or not. They pretty much say you can simply feel if something is magical by touching it.)
(Yes. I'd forgotten about those rules.) As Kathrine holds up the blade, the light glints off two yellow topaz stones in the falcon head, evidently the eyes of the figure. As they are caught by the light, she feels a surge of power run through the blade, and the brightness of the gems begins subtly and slowly pulsing.
"Very well." Kathrine says, giving the creature another bow of respect, then she turns away, leaving the empty trunk behind. She moves in the direction the creature indicated, heading towards a door or passage in that direction. "It said we should go this way." She explains to the others as she leads the way.

"What sort of food do you require?" Kathrine asks the creature as she feels the mental prodding. "Please stay out of my head as we discuss here, as it is not very polite to go rummaging through a person's private thoughts."
"Food. All food! Dead food!"
It seems to ignore the second statement.
"Well I would bet we can get some of that for you." Kathrine says with a frown. "We don't like killing, or at least I prefer to find other means at least, but I doubt if these thugs will give up nicely. "Lots of foods?" Narc asks eagerly. It walks towards the edge of the crevice, and stops to hear the response.

(I'm sorry, I thought I'd replied here.)
Narc scrambles into the crevice, and returns with a battered wooden chest, which it dumps at Kathrine's feet. "Is good. Can have people in dead room. That way." It motions to the north of the cavern.
"Thank you." Kathrine says with a deep bow. She opens the trunk to see what lays inside.

Grzak remains quiet as he clearly appreciates the sword from afar. He finally says,
”I like my great axe, but I could wield it.”
He’s wondering if he could even get both of his meat hooks on the handle.

"The sword is magical, if that makes a difference..." Kathrine says as she holds up the item.
"Grzak, you should keep it, I have the might V." Gabriel pats the hilt of his sword.
Grzak gratefully accepts the sword after holstering his great axe.
