Once everyone, including the massive Gris, have squeezed their way through the narrow bars, you find yourselves in a dusty guardhouse, complete with rotting mugs on the floor and rusty weapons on the walls. The door at the back wall is sealed solidly and exhibits no sign of doorknob, handle, or hinge. The drums grow louder as you travel farther northward, and the sounde unsettles you more than a little.
A table, empty barrel, and two small chairs are the only items of furniture. Dwinkle bends over and retrieves an odd contraption, like a large key with several loose cogs and arrows upon it. He spins one of the arrows and smiles as it rests upon an area of the key painted red.
"Caggs and Swivels. Classic dwarven game of chance." He explains. "We are indeed in Bhailenteine."
"Hmmm... Mister Dwarf, might you know some way to open this door? Old Dwarven trick to concealing levers or something? This may be a good spot to get the jump on any attackers but I would feel safer if we had another way out."Adoy says as he attempts to pull or turn the torch brackets.
"I'm afraid,"Says Dwinkle, drawing himself up proudly, "That I was not very interested in dwarven architecture as a youth. While my classmates would devote their time to hammering away at bits of metal and stone, I would be learning the delicate beauty of poetry and the subtle art of fashion."
Even Kathleen's keen eyes can spot nothing that would help in the opening of the stone door. Eventually Dwinkle speaks out loud the thought that everyone has on their minds.
"Why, again, are we going towards the ominous-sounding drums?"
"I don't care much for gold, but I must admit I am curious what we may find in there. We have already seen some very strange goblins and those fish people. We may find blind cave salamanders, or glowing fungus, or whatever sort of creature that has a skin large enough to stretch over a drum as big as that one sounds!
Adoy is too excited about the idea of finding new types of life to realise how potentially dangerous a creature with that large a skin would probably be.
As Adoy's eyes are sharp enough to make out the faint footprints of his companions in the dust fifty feet below, it is safe to say that when he remarks that he spies nothing suspicious, you can trust him to be correct.
Ghorbash, studying the door, finds a narrow crack running between the smooth stone slab and wall beside it, just wide enough to fit a blade into.
Dum, dum, dum. Dum, dum, dum. The drums beat on, reverbrating within your skulls.
Kathleen walks over to Ghorbash and says, "Do you think you can put a long sword or something in that crack and pry the door open? If so I will Help you."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ghorbash
"I have no sword, but I am sure this javelin will do. Let us push." He grabs a javelin from his pack and pushes it into the crack of the door. He struggles mightily, but with Kathleen's help, they were able to force it in. With all their might, they pushed as hard as they could.
Dwinkle nervously begins the ascent. Athletics: 16

Kathleen nods and says, "Yeah. I can respect that. You do you."
EDIT: (Missed the second post.) Kathleen answers, "Because we didn't come all this way to not get into the gold city,"

"I'd like to explore this city as well," Ayoola agrees. "Maybe we can even find a lot of valuables in there. I could use some funds for my research."
Ghorbash
Very simply, the half orc responded to the glittery dwarf, "Gold." He then tried to find some leverage on the door to pry it open with his battleax.
Adoy, seeing he is more likely to get in Ghorbash's way than help, moves to the bars and watches the room below for anything suspicious.

OOC: If the Javelin can't fit in the crack because of its shape, Kathleen will give her long sword to Ghorbash to put in the crack.
Ghorbash's brute strength wins the day again, and the stone slab slides into the left wall, leaving a narrow opening in the rock.

All is dark, and a clammy chill emenates from the opening.

Is it wide enough for Kathleen (who has been standing a bit bent over this entire time because of the low ceiling,) to fit through?
It is wide enough for even Gris to fit through.
