Umm... I think you misunderstood. Everyone won't go at once, they will go in whatever order they think would be best. Like in a recent encounter, My character had bless and my friend had crappy accuracy. According to initiative, he would go first, then me and then our enemies. But instead of doing that, we agreed that I would go first that one round so that I can cast bless. It wasn't fixed either. Sometimes I would go first and sometimes he would. It would all depend on which order was the most tactically advantageous for us in each round.
I've seen it where everyone posts their action for a round, regardless of initiative order. And then, the DM puts it all together in one full post. True, it doesnt fix the issue described above for Bless, but I guess that also contradicts the use of initiative. That has worked really well in the past. Now, there are some conditionals later on in the initiative order (e.g. if Vulture 1 is dead on my turn, I will strike at Vulture 2. Otherwise, I hit Vulture 1). Again, its up the DM to take the time and piece the posts from each party member into a cohesive battle round. Sorry for the hard to read image, but here is what one DM of mine has done on a PbP. Everyone posted their rolls into their own post. He showed the monster rolls (optional) in his post and then wrote a summary based on initiative order and what happened.
It is quite common that people post at the same time and then they edit their posts etc. It is much better if DM sets order
Lets get a vote on this. Do you all want to go at once, or in descending initiative order?

Regardless, I think voting on it is a great idea.
Oh, I see. My bad. :D

As we can see it is mess already ;)
@ZULKRS: DnD already has this mechanic it is called "ready action" you can do it when you use classic initiative
I know about that already.

I will go with what group prefer but why we do not want to use initiative?
I personally would prefer classic initiative. But we can vote on this.

Definitely keep initiative!
It's not that I don't want to use classic initiative, I just thought we could try something different to smooth things out since PBP tend to drag on.
@GhorbashSeaAg98 (whoops. Got too used to RP) I've seen that in PBP too. Though I have not played in a game like that.If the DM prefers the classic system, them I don't have any problem with that. Whatever he is the most comfortable with is fine by me.
DM has spoken! My vote is classic initiative.
Gris love initiative + DM sums up each round
Classic Initiative. I'm old, I don't wanna learn new things if I don't have too. :P
I'm all for classic.
The vote is unanimous. (I'm glad I did not have too much influence on the outcome. ;D)

You might get some long posting delays from me from time to time. I apologize in advance.

I think we all understand that. Some say it is "life" ;)
L-ife? I have not heard of this thing.

Also, BirdCopp, you and Kolbitr should decide amongst yourselves who you wish to act first in initiative. You are tied at 12.
