Sariel is incredibly angry at this turn of events. She knew to not trust the stranger. However they needed the wagon and needed their guide. She will look to the others to try to gauge what they wanted to do. She didn’t want to fight but they might not have that luxury.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Excuse me gentleman. I hope this solution will work better for all of us. I'd rather none of us die and for that to happen we need these supplies. I have a friend of mine who works for me and owes me a favor back in the last town over who is holding on to some gold for me once I got back and he'll find somewhere to keep you guys safe from any prying eyes. I'll write a letter that you can take with you with my signature, he knows it specifically, and he'll make sure you guys get taken care of. This way you guys are fed and safe and hey, all alive. Now I'd rather see that than us fight and end up killing one another."
Eion will take out something to write with and write down a fake name and the tavern name to go to on parchment with the following message "Gren, feed these guys and make sure they aren't noticed" with his signature.
"Well you have my word and signature on this lovely note here for one. And if it's really going to convince you guys, here's 10 gold to go with. That's the best I can do gentlemen, I really don't feel like anyone here getting more breathing holes"
"How do we know that you will keep your word?" Asked Jack

Eion proclaimed as honest and as sincere as he could muster. Jack Jingly took a moment to consider his situation. They had the advantage in numbers but their opponents were clearly more healthy and better equipped. Thastrem was his hostage but he wasn't sure how much help that was. The young man had seemed nervous through the whole affair, but he was extraordinarily relaxed. He wasn't sure but he got the distinct impression that, despite holding the knife, he was not in control. He lowered the knife. Despite the desperation he did not want to see his crew harmed or killed. "Let me make things easy for you." Said Thastrem suddenly. "Our destination is close by. I'll give you the rest of my travel rations. It isn't much but it can last you up until Neverwinter. Then you should be able to cash that letter in." Jack was surprised to say the least from the young man's offer. "I...thank you..." He managed to push out. Everyone stood down.
Felix looked around him, at the bandits. Thanks to Thastrem, it looked like there would be no blood shed. Felix couldn't help but sigh in relief, but he kept his sword out just in case. Plus, given the light, it'd help him and his crew to keep them all in sight.
Once they were on the road again Sariel would have to thank Eion for his quick and smart thinking. Although she was really wanting to use Shocking Grasp on ol mister Jack Jingly she was much more interested in living right now. Sariel will relax but will still keep a spell ready...just in case.
Captain Jack Jingly departed with his band in the middle of the night. The party inspected the wagon to ensure nothing more was taken. After they were satisfied to find nothing missing they all decided to turn in for sleep. "I may need to share some food with everyone if that's ok?" Thastrem stated to the party meekly.
“Thank you Sariel.” Thastrem responded in gratitude.
After the excitement had passed everyone had turned in for the night. Morning came with no further trouble. After tending to the horses to make sure they were fed. Everyone gathered for breakfast. Thastrem removed a set of cooking utensils from his pack and prepared to make a porridge to go with their rations. After breakfast everyone made their way back to the high road to continue the journey.
After an unexpected night the party eventually came to a divide in the road. Near the divide stood a simple birchwood post with two crossing signs. One said High Road etched out in crude letters. The other said Triboar Trail. "This is it." Said Thastrem looking at the map. "This is where we turn off the road. Phandalin is down this pathway." The wagon slowly rolled off the path and made its way dow the trail.
The Triboar trail was a bit bumpier than the high road but nothing out of the ordinary occurred. The marshland to their sides slowly crept by as they made their way down the road. The landscape was dotted with hills and brush that made sneaking easier. It did not make things easier that the trail skirted close to Neverwinter woods for additional cover. After half a day's journey everyone came to a bend in the road. "This is it everyone. We just have to make this turn and we can be in Phandalin by sunset." Thastrem cried out delightfully. As they turned the bend they gazed down the final stretch of their journey. What they saw lowered their spirits a little. In the middle of the road was a broken wagon. Nearby, blocking the path, there lay two dead horses made pin cushions with the arrows that had perforated their hides. Each of the little shafts were accented with black feathers that looked gnarled as if made by amateur hands or primitive techniques. Whoever had been pulling this cart had been attacked.
Naomi gets off the cart to inspect the carnage. The bodies were still fresh. At most, they had been out here for a day. Whoever did this could still be close by. Before Naomi could warn the others her eyes found the company emblem on the cart. As her heart sank, she rushed to their own wagon to make sure she was wrong. “Oh no...” she whispered. “Everyone…this wagon…it has the Rockseeker company logo on it. This was Sildar and gundren’s wagon!!”

Sariel was eager to get back on the road.

After they were satisfied to find nothing missing they all decided to turn in for sleep. "I may need to share some food with everyone if that's ok?" Thastrem stated to the party meekly.
Of course Thastrem. I'll share my rations with you. Eion, that was some masterful persuasion.
“Thank you Sariel.” Thastrem responded in gratitude.

High Road 50 mi.

Triboar trail 0 mi.
Triboar trail 15 mi

"What happened here," Naomi quietly mumbles as she cautiously steps closer to the scene.
