Greetings and salutations, ladies, gentlemen, boys, girls, neithers, boths, and in-betweens! So, this is something that I did with my IRL (well, online because of the pandemic, but I at least know all of them in person) D&D group, and we've been going strong for a good while, so I know it works. Essentially, the concept is as follows: everyone in the group gives their opinions on things like magic level, tech level, "darkness," "weirdness," themes, "vibes," locations, and other such aspects of a world, and I take all these ideas and create a whole new world out of them. Then, I present it to the players, and if they like the concept, we make characters and play. If they don't I trash it and try another concept.
As a group, we decided on a relatively dark, medium magic, low tech, sorta weird setting set in the underground with "monster hunter vibes," (as well as some other stuff that I mostly forgot) and I ended up crafting a setting where a giant infinitely-growing tree had trapped all of civilization underground, where aberrant, magical monsters roamed and the remainders of society hid from them in cave-cities. The setting got a lot more dark and weirder, as well as slightly higher tech as things progressed, but that's just how things go.
Anyways, who would be interested in playing in a game where you get to have a hand in shaping the world before playing? (I would be doing most of the work of actually creating it, you would just provide opinions and preferences.)

I also create worlds and campaigns for fun. If you do it long enough, it turns into an intricately detailed mythos.
