Dargrimm winces when he hears that a dragon is the root of the calamity that has befallen Phandalin.
A dragon??? Are you serious? I am not against lending a hand to those in need, but I am also against throwing my life away needlessly. Mayhap we can start by curing the symptoms of the issue, such as the rampaging orcs?
When he hears the barkeep talking about Elwyn and his orchard, Dargrimm turns to Elwyn’s table
Greetings Master Elwyn. I am Dargrimm Firebeard. We have just arrived in town. The dragon may be out of our league at the moment, buy we looking to assist any way we can. Pray, would you join tables and tell of your troubles?
"My troubles are that a gods-be-damned flying lizard the size of an olyphaunt killed my horses. My wife and kids are scared to return home and I've been walking to and from the farm to care for my trees and remaining animals. I've just made a deal with these two miners to buy their horses, as they are getting out of the area. Not sure what else I can say."

Rohani listened intently to Elwyn's recount, barely containing her excitement. "Fear not, Elwyn! We here to help and we'll be on the case as soon as we speak with the Townmaster. But in the meantime while we investigate, perhaps you might consider a... short vacation from the farm, for the safety of your family and these new horses?"
Thinking further, she inquired, "Did you get a look at which direction the dragon went?"
Poco walks to the table and asks, “Does everyone want a room for tonight? If all goes well I may be able to help cover a few rooms.”
Wynn nods, wiping a tear from his eye. "I'll take a room, please. Wonderful playing, by the way. It's been a good while since I've been moved to tears. You have a gift."
"Yes I could use a room for the night" Mathark thanks Poco. "You truely are thr legendary Poco" he exclaims loud enough for his voice to be heard throughout the Inn.
"As excited as I am about seeing a dragon, I am not sure if our best course of action is to hunt it yet, I would like to live long enough to see this one hatch." He says while patting his stone egg " turning towards Dargrimm "I believe you are right, the ors seem more our speed"
She joins her companions at the table. "I know a little of dragons, being a servant of the great Silver Dragon and bearing her gift. White dragons are typically not as devious as other dragons, but what they lack in cunning they make up for in spite and cruelty... I've never met one in person, of course, but what better chance to prove our worth? And if there are challenges in our way, they will only make us stronger in our approach."
The barkeep has six beds available in three rooms, normally 5 silver, he offers you 4 sp as friends of the entertainment, and covers your 1 sp meals.
Elwyn mutters, "I intend to keep my family at my wife's sister's house till this blows over, but the land needs me. That's the whole reason I bought the horses. The dragon flew back where it came from, the east. It's been seen east, west, north, south, all over."

Sensing Elwyn's conviction, Rohani nodded, "I understand. Your devotion to the land is admirable and we will do our best to take care of this problem swiftly."
She rejoined the group, "I'm with Proserpina... A dragon would indeed be a dangerous foe, but it doesn't seem too many adventurers come by this way and we might the best shot this town's got of not being eaten. And what's an adventure without a little danger?" She added with a mischievous smile. She continued, "I spoke with Elwyn and it sounds like the dragon flew in from the east and carried off two of his horses from the farm before returning east. The dragon's been spotted all over though, so gotta stay alert."
Hearing of the accommodations offered, she flashed a thumbs up at Poco. "Looks like we have you to thank for helping us find a place to stay tonight."
After having a quick drink and meal, Proserpina will inspect the notice board so she can bring back information for the other characters and be ready in the morning.
Poco lets the barkeep know that he will take the 3 rooms and pays him the 4 sp. He is sure that he will make up most if not all later tonight when he performs. He heads back to the table and lets his companions know that he got rooms but they will have to share. He thanks them for the ale and digs in to the meal. After listening to the statement from Proserpina, Poco exclaims,
"I've always wondered if Dragons are soothed by music like some other beasts? Could I join your hunt too?"
For Prosperina (and anyone who follows her to the notice board:
The hastily constructed notice board has three jobs posted:
Dwarven Excavation Quest. “Dwarf prospectors found ancient dwarven ruins in the mountains southwest of here, and have been working an archaeological dig seeking treasure and relics. They need to be warned that a white dragon has moved into the area. Take the warning to them, then return to Townmaster Harbin Wester to collect a reward of 50 gp.”
Gnomengarde Quest. “A clan of reclusive rock gnomes resides in a small network of caves in the mountains to the southeast. The gnomes of Gnomengarde are known for their magical inventions, and they might have something with which to defeat the dragon. Get whatever you can from them. If you bring back something useful and don’t want to keep it for yourselves, Townmaster Harbin Wester will pay you 50 gp for it.”
Umbrage Hill Quest. “The local midwife — an acolyte of Chauntea named Adabra Gwynn — lives by herself in a stone windmill on the side of a hill a few miles south of Phandalin. With dragon sightings becoming more common, it’s not safe for her to be alone. Urge Adabra to return to Phandalin. Once she’s safe, visit Townmaster Harbin Wester to claim a reward of 25 gp.”
OOC: This adventure is flat out based upon quests, mostly from the notice board. I'm perfectly willing to throw that out the window but I'm letting you know what is easiest on me,

Proserpina copies the brief quests into her journal and returns to the tavern and finds any companions who didn't join her. "There are three missions that all appear related to the sighting of the dragon. We may be able to do all three in one circular trip. There are dwarven prospectors to the southwest who need to be warned of the dragon as they may not be aware. The local midwife is located to the south and also needs warned of the dragon, and encouraged to come to Phandalin. If I'm reading the map correctly, we could likely stop by her to warn her on the way to the Dwarven excavations. We could then go from the Dwarven excavators straight to Gnomengarde. Where the Townmaster hopes to find magical means of fighting the dragon."
As Poco sits down, Mathark passes him his food. "I am not sure we are hunting the dragon yet, but you are more then welcome to join us, after all with music like that how can we say no?" Turning his attention to Proserpina as she reenters the Inn "I was hoping to deal with the orcs, however, these all seem relatively straightforward." Mathark stats, a little disappointed. "I guess someone has to do it, and it sounds like the locals don't want toventure far from their houses, between the dragon and the orcs. I wonder what kind of magical means the townmaster hopes we can find, it must be something powerful to take on a dragon. You can count me in"
Proserpina nods at Mathark. "I would guess that the orcs, while a threat, are not yet a present danger. We should keep them in mind, but there may be a peaceful resolution to their trouble. If not, then we will deal with them anyway. For now, I think the people in present danger take precedence."
At the mention of possibly finding magic items, Wynn perks up. "That's a fine plan, and it would make this trip very much worthwhile for me to visit Gnomengarde. You can count me in."
Rohani listened to the conversation at the table, nodding in agreement with the plan."I'm onboard, a good idea to get this midwife to safety first, especially if anyone in town is expecting her services will be needed.
With Mathark's comment, Rohani suddenly interjects, "Orcs aren't all so bad... Most are just folks like you and me, well honestly more like me actually, but just folks trying to make a living. There are some bad apples, though you get those in every bunch, right?"
Poco listens carefully to the group and likes how his companions think. They all seem like a good bunch and he finds himself wanting to go along just to keep them in good spirits for their adventure.
" I agree with all of you. I do think we should go check on the practitioner. However, she may be fearful of leaving her home to come to town though. An escort back will most likely be needed. It may be better to handle the Orc disturbance first, then go to the midwife on our way back. Just an idea though. I will go with whatever the group thinks. I would appreciate if we could not leave at dawn though. Could be a late night performing for me."

Dargrimm wholeheartedly agrees. Aye, let us first attend to those lives may be in danger. I think Gnomengarde should be our last destination.
