We recently had a player depart from our Storm King's Thunder campaign, which is played here on the D&D Beyond forum, and so I'm looking for one replacement to round out the party.
Right now, our party consists of the following, so I'd like to find someone who will compliment this group.
Human Cleric
Human Warlock
Tiefling Rogue
Gnome Paladin
How to Apply
Roll ability scores, using either dice roller tool, point buy or standard array. (You'll start at Level 5)
Content/sources allowed: Pretty much any of the official 5E DnD material that's available here on DndBeyond.
Alignments: Good and neutral preferred. I won't rule out evil, but I'll need to be convinced with a good backstory
Post here with your name, race, class, background and a description & backstory; the more detailed, the better.
You will start in the town of Goldenfields, where you just took part in a battle against a number of hill giants, ogres and goblins who tried to assault the town. You can include this in your backstory.
Posting Style & Frequency
I try to post at least once per day, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on schedule. Weekends vary. I'm looking for the same from you, and I'll encourage a wide mix of creative roleplaying and descriptive narrative, with dialog, inner thoughts and expressive, detailed accounts of what your character does and thinks, whether in battle or interacting with other characters and NPCs.
If you're already participating in a bunch of other games and would likely only have time for the occasional one or two sentence post, then maybe step aside and let someone else have a chance. However, if you have a great imagination and love to write, no matter if you're a total newbie or an experienced player, then I'd love to have you in our game!
I'll keep this open for a few days and then notify whoever is chosen.
backstory: Siobhan never meant to do more than tend to her circle, deep with the forest. Which forest? She does not know, so secluded were her people. But one day, a simple venture to gather food turned into a nightmare. A heavy mist flowed around her and no matter what shape she took no sense could pierce through. When it disappeared she found herself in a twisted wood unlike anything she knew. Siobhan was terrified and spent almost a year trying to survive in that sunless forest.
She finally decided to do more than survive and sought other people, if only to understand what happened. Her cautious ventures into “civilization” taught her that this place was called Barovia, an Abomination ruled, and civilization was just as cutthroat as she’d been warned. However, it was not all bad as she met other wanderers and banded with them. Her first true “adventure” was at the behest of her new friend Groningen, who was seeking allies to avenge the deaths of his last party by vampires. Destroying such unnatural beings was deeply satisfying and Siobhan finally found a purpose, and the possibility of finding a way home. The small pack (Siobhan craves Pack as much as her preferred lupine form) gave her some of what she’d been missing. Their exploits changed their little corner of Barovia for what she hoped the better when they deposed a corrupt baron and Groningen installed himself in that place. As Groningen was certain to be a better ruler than the previous one and her actual experience with “civilization” told her leaders were chosen by their ability to intimidate others, she was content. (Her people used consensus rule and of course the wolves organized by family, so it must be different in larger groups).
Whatever would come of her new pack she would never know as a scouting expedition in search of a lost child brought more mists and spat Siobhan out again, now on the Sword Coast. She knows her Barovia pack wanted to return here, but it is not her forest. Still, thrown into another place against her will Siobhan chose to seek people first and at least find meaning in defending the weak. The attack on Goldenfields happened within days of her arrival and as she has learned, she fought in their defense. Siobhan fears she may never find her forest again but knows if she follows her code she can rebuild her life.
Siobhan is both cynical and naive - her experience outside of her home forest is limited to not quite two years, but what interactions she had were in a land far more dysfunctional than the overall stable and prosperous Sword Coast. The fact that the conflict she has gotten wrapped into now are technically her distant giant-kin is a subject of dismay. She’s educated in many things - fluent in multiple languages, skilled in medicine, and has a deep understanding of the natural world and how all sentient “civilized” beings are not distinct from that. But she has never seen a full map of Faerun, let alone one that would tell her where her people reside. Perhaps she is not even from Faerun but some pocket of the Feywild. Siobhan has a good heart and is fiercely protective of any who she claims as her own.
Backstory: Born near Tribor John studied with a Goliath who taught him the ways of the Rune's he set out on his own working as a guard only recently returning to find his family's home destroyed by orcs wanting help he set out to find it at the city nearby.
Description: A tall, tan furred tabaxi rocks back on two legs of his chai in the tavern, juggling and playing with a ball of string in one hand almost constantly. At any chance he gets to regale the patrons with a story of daring adventures, he lithely jumps upon a table, swishing his rapier about as he re-enacts for the enthralled patrons. His clothes are cleanly kept but show wear and tear, and several repairs, but still look quite respectable nonetheless.
Backstory: String was a long time member of the Mercenary Guild. However, after a recent disagreement with his fair for the dramatic, even in battle, several members had him booted out. So, not one to rest on his laurels, String went from town to town, selling his skills. A town here, a town there, but never anything exciting. That was until he got to the town of Goldenfields. There he was, balancing on those two legs of his chair in the tavern as he had in so many like it. Drinking, listening, chuckling at what he would overhear, when the call rang out about the attack. Giants, ogres, goblins! He drew his rapier out and walked ever so casually out into the street to find these overbearing quarry and enjoy some story-worthy antics to add to his repertoire of entertainments for the townsfolk about.
Disclaimer: I’ve only played a few games as a player, and never over a forum. I do have a fairly solid grasp of the mechanics and I run a small biweekly game for my brothers. I’d be happy to give this a go if you think I’d be a good fit.

Archamedes
Variant Human Wizard: Order of Scribes.
Background: Hermit
Alignment: Neutral
Description: Long silver hair and beard, deeply wrinkled face, watery blue eyes. Usually seen carrying a backpack with a large book tucked into it, among other things. Blue pointed hat with a brim, deep blue and grey robes. Walks with a staff and usually appears lost in thought.
Backstory: Archamedes is a wizard. An Ex-adventurer who’s seen just about everything. He retired, don’t you know, and proceeded to forget most of it. But now, trouble’s brewing again, and it’s time for old Archamedes to dust off his hat and set about recovering his power of old.
Archamedes was just settling down in a perfectly overstuffed armchair to a nice cup of tea, pouring over an old tome in his cozy little cottage. Trilly, his sparrow familiar, flits about, chirping happily in the morning sunshine. It’s peaceful, just the way Archamedes likes it. Trilly flits over and lands on his book, chirping inquisitively, tilting his head. “Don't you have something to do?” Murmurs the old man, brushing the bird from the annals of Galdric Farspeeker. “I thought there were strangers in town.” *chirp* “Goblins you say? *chirp* And giants?” *chirp chirp* “Oh bother.” Grumbles the old man, getting stiffly to his feet. He grabs his staff from where he propped it next to his chair, hesitates, and picks up a worn tome from a stand near the door. Grey leather covers with a blue fabric spine, this well constructed book shows signs of wear and heavy use, but still feels solid when he picks it up, shaking off the dust. He gathers himself for a moment before belting on his component pouch, pushing open the wooden door, and striding out into the erupting fight. “Interrupting tea time… the nerve.”
class: Fighter (Battle Master or Samurai, trying to decide)
Description: shoulder length black hair, a pencil thin mustache that extends over his lips and down into a pointed goatee. He has slender, athletic build giving way to more dexterity than strength; however, he is still capable of a good scrap. He stands at 5’10” and 210 lbs
Background: Nicanor was a loyal Sergeant for Neverwinter until his Captain led an unfortuitous charge killing over half his squad in a bad decision raid. He did his time but never forgave the Captain. From that battle they butted heads and Nicanor has a difficult time with trusting people in official leadership positions and feels more devoted to the hard working soldier or other working class. Little known secret: Nicanor was partly to blame because of his dereliction to the Captain. He is wanted for questioning for his part (or lack of) in the battle
@Dbaileyak, Have you already made the decision to select a replacement player? Actually, I forgot to add a physical description of the suggested character to my application. Should I attach it now?
Yes, @inkedBee and all the others who expressed their interesting in joining our game. I have made my selection and notified the player. Thanks to everyone who applied!
