Kelmaer says, "That would be great, Kythaela. Anything we can do to be unobtrusive would be really helpful. The only question is whether we use it now ... or when we're all together later tonight? I feel like we're just blending in with the crowd for now, observing and leaving. If people are disappearing it's probably happening at night."
As the group inside the temple courtyard is contemplating its next move, a smiling, charming looking human man in his mid-30s approaches. "Mystra bless you, friends!" he says with a quick bow. "If you seek the Mother of All Magic, you've found one of the places she dwells here in Faerun. You appear to be the rough-and-tumble adventuring sort," he adds with a quick wink. "Have you come to the temple for healing, or perhaps to alleviate some other ailment? We ask very competitive donations in return for our healing?"
To the human, "Thank you, friend. I am lucky enough to be hale and hearty at this time, but when the need should arise I will definitely remember this opportunity. I came here to simply learn of the ways of your "Mother of Magic"."
The man's smile somehow impossibly widens. "Well met, then. Let me introduce myself. I am Shan Thar, a priest of this here temple. May I suggest you come to the nightly services, and rejoice in Mystra," he says. "But if you seek to learn more than the average parishioner, might you be interested in revealed knowledge, and Mystra’s Sacred Trust?”
Kelmaer says, "I am Velnathras. I will have to come to this service sometime then, Shan Tar, though I'm sure you have many others to share revealed knowledge with. Now, if you will excuse me, I do have business to attend to before the day ends."
He goes to leave, not acknowledging his other party members in any way.
Shan Thar chuckles. "Understood, my friend. May Mystra bless your endeavors," he calls after Kelmaer, before turning to the others with a quick smile and nod. "If there is nothing else, enjoy your stay. I hope to see you at one of our services." He turns to leave if not stopped.
(You're killing me. I thought we were meeting back at the tavern.)
On spotting the rest of the party,. Kelmaer attempts to inform them of what little he has learned, hopefully outside the temple, or at least away from the view of Shan Thar or close guards.
"Honestly, we didn't get very far before he singled us out as adventurers. The temple's priest, Shan Thar, wanted to know if we wanted healing, or other services. I said I was merely here to learn of the Goddess. He invited me to services, and suggested there are special knowledges to learn, and "Mystra's Shared Trust".", Kelmaer states, "It seemed innocuous enough. though it gave me the chills combined with what brought us here."
"If I had to figure they probably do it completely normal. Build up trust and try and drag you in. We just need to figure out what's holding the other end without getting dragged into it's mouth."

Kelmaer, "If I go back in, the priest is definitely going to focus on my return, since I caught his attention earlier. So either we use that, or I stay out of his sight ... but I have no skill in disguise. How do you all want to play this?"
"I can go in and listen to what they are saying to see if it is consistent with the worship of Mystra in case they are just using her as cover for something else."

"I think we're not going to find anything else here," says Colleen, "we should meet back with the others."

Easy enough. The other group arrives at the temple about the time Kelmaer has walked away from Shan Thar.

((I thought it was temple at dusk, not back at the tavern))
(( It's fine. If we're gonna keep going, lets pick it up from right outside the temple ))
Buford asks, "Did everything inside seem normal?" He also looks around to see whether those going in and out of the temple seem to be doing so freely.

"So, should we head in or check with some of those departing to see if they have any additional information first?"
Kythaela shrugs. "I mean--we, we want to know everything we can, right?"

"There is something going on, I found some of their literature at my friends shop, and indications that his wife was taken against her will."
