Kalisia silently observes the frequent exchange of information before speaking up to address the issue of infestation: "Perhaps you can set up traps using poisonous pieces of meat as a bait. I believe that the result will be decisive... nothing but a quick success."
"You should try to release them to the habitat , but you should remove them from the root, or i'll just kill them for you" Fytos replied, but barely heard
"I ain't never actually seen 'em, but they must be pretty big what with all the noise they make," Pete replies. "Mostly down there," he says stomping his foot, "in the strong room. You know, Bog Luck is the only one with the key. Them rats musta dug a hole through the floorboards or something."
Kalisia presses her lips into a half-smirk when Fytos decides to volunteer for extermination of vermin. The smirk transforms into a frown when she takes in the proposal of Valek eagerly. She attempts to discourage the party from taking immediate action by saying:
"We should wait until it's night-time since the noises are heard during that time. Perhaps, they might be caught red-handed in the middle of mischievous activities."
Valek nods in agreement. “Sure. Sounds good to me. But, speaking to Bog beforehand may still prove useful.” Valek finishes his stew. Letting his spoon rest in the his bowl, he picks up his ale and finishes it.
Erephema finishes her stew and water and hops up. "Probably catch them at midnight but it may help to poke around a bit now to see if we can find something drawing them in and maybe even find out how they are getting inside. I am happy to do some digging."
As you prepare to leave Gristle Pete's kitchen, Bog Luck, a burly half-orc wearing his short sword in a scabbard decorated with a dragon and with a key hanging from his belt, and his assistant Wump enter the room. "Well, folks, the caravan is just about unloaded. The boys are putting away the last few things in the warehouse. Do you folks know where you are sleeping tonight? With the wagons or in one of our bunk rooms?"
Erephema surveys the room. "I don't know how many rooms there are but I am more than happy to sleep with the wagons, I really do prefer to be outside. Now that I had some food and drink I have some more energy. Bog, do the boys need any help moving the supplies into the warehouse? They are such sweet kids."
Kalisia decides to express her view regarding the arrangement of a long rest by saying:"I'd like to spend the night inside the strong hold. Gristle Pete told us that the place is infested by swamp rats, and we'd agreed to investigate the matter. We need the keys to unlock the door."
The dark elf woman stands up and starts collecting her gears from the surface of the table while trying to observe the expression of Bog Luck from the corner of her eyes.
(@DM - Are there any remaining goods in the wagons to guard? And, is it safe to presume the wagons remain outside for the night and not in the warehouse?)
”I’ll be staying with the wagons, Bog.” Giving a slight side nod towards Pete, Valek continues. “We hear you’ve been having some giant rat troubles of late. Anything we can do to help?”
"All of the supplies for the road construction have been unloaded," Bog Luck reports, "and the boys have gone to their room, Miss Erephema.
"We don't have any rats here," He laughs. "Wump here makes certain of that. Good Ol' Gristle Pete just likes to complain is all. Sleeping on the kitchen floor makes him grumpy." Kalisia gets the feeling Bog is not telling the whole truth. He puts his hand over the key at his belt. "Besides, you wouldn't want to be traipsing around in the strong room. The floorboards are a bit loose. You might get your foot stuck or fall through if you don't know where to step.
"If you wish to sleep with the wagons outside of the roadhouse, that's fine with me," Bog luck continues by addressing Valek, "but we have some comfortable beds in the rooms that could get you out of the weather for a bit. The Guard Captain Albright has already settled in his room. The rest of the rooms sleep four people. Lady Wongbe, I would be pleased to escort you to a room, if you like." He holds his arm akimbo in gentlemanly fashion for Kalisia to take.
(I wish I could figure out how to show you guys a floorplan or map.)
"Why, this is the bunk house, Mister Finn," Bog Luck says as he escorts you downstairs to the courtyard. "There below the kitchen and beside the stables is the warehouse, off of which is the strong room, to which only I have the key." He motions to the key at his belt, then with a sweeping motion of his arms, he says, "All the rest is rooms for travelers and caravan guards."
"Pete usually starts cooking around dawn," Bog Luck answers Finn, "and the caravan will head out for Neverwinter as soon as Captain Albright is ready."
