Kalisia grows more anxious than before when Valek makes a rational attempt to discourage her from committing cold-blooded slaughter. She should have realized the fact earlier that taking hare-brained action often results in disaster.
"It's not a practical joke. You don't know what I've heard after eavesdropping for awhile. They were talking about evil dragon queen and..."- she pauses in the middle of verbal exchange when she spots Bog Luck and Captain Albright.
After Kalisia’s report Erephema starts to worry that this is not going to be as simple as luring some rats out of the warehouse and fixing a hole. Also, bloodshed may be necessary unfortunately.
“We need to gat a look inside that warehouse. I don’t believe any of us is a rogue so stealing the key or picking the lock may not be options. Maybe there is a way in on the opposite side of the warehouse where there aren’t any prying eyes?”
"Ah, here are my guests now," Bog Luck says to Captain Albright, motioning toward Kalisia. "Lady Kalisia," he hollers as he approaches, "what are you doing out and about? I thought you had gone to bed. And what about your friends? I thought they were guarding the caravan. What brings you all out here? Curiosity, perhaps? I was just showing Captain Albright that everything is safely stored for the night, including and especially the goods headed for Neverwinter. Thank you for bringing us the supplies for the road construction. Is there something I can help you with?"
As Bog Luck says this, four men come out of the room next to the one in which Kalisia, Finn, and Fytos are staying.
Kalisia stares at the pair of men with an expression of utter disbelief. But she manages to suppress the feeling of paranoia and replies with a gentle smile:
"Oh Sir, I was just enjoying the fresh air and the company of my fellow traveling companions. I was looking forward to meeting the occupiers of the adjacent room, but they're fast asleep. That's a shame!'
"Oi, what's going on here, Captain?" one of the men says as they approach
"Nothing at all, Terrence," Captain Albright replies. "Just making sure everything is ready for tomorrow. We'll be leaving two wagons and the supplies here as well as the blokes who tagged along from Waterdeep. Will you and your companions be accompanying us to Neverwinter, Lady Kalisia?" the captain of the guard turns to the party. "Or will you be staying with Bog Luck and his men? I presume they will be heading back to Waterdeep when their business is done here. Is that right, Boggy Boy?" he says, clapping a hand on Bog Luck's shoulder.
"Yes, Captain," Bog Luck replies. "Tobias and his men will be staying on here for a day or two before heading back to Waterdeep with their wagons." He grins as he plucks Captain Albright's hand off of his shoulder.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
During the entire interaction between our party and Bog, Captain Albright and the rest of their cronies…er…men, Valek watches intently. It is obvious Bog and team are hiding something and don’t wish our group to be nosing around. But, even the interactions between Bog and the Captain seem…interesting.
Insight 12
(ooc: I’m hoping to gleam any detail they may help us connect dots or lead us to next steps. Also, when Kalisia makes specific reference to those in the room next door, is there any body language that might indicate who it was?)
Valek gets the impression these men are in the employ of the captain and know nothing about the "rats" about which Gristle Pete was complaining. Also, Bog Luck seems to be annoyed by the captain and his men.
Kalisia realizes that these guards came out of the room on the other side from which the unusual conversation took place.
Kalisia presses her lips together while taking in the continuous flow of information, then replies: "I do not want to decide the future course of action without consulting my colleagues. Besides, can we postpone the starting date of the journey to Neverwinter?"
Erephema looks out across the swamplands “I am quite partial to the swamplands as I am part of the swamp circle. It is such an ecosystem rich with creatures and flora not found anywhere else. I wouldn’t mind exploring the swamp a bit before we moved on. Have you been out there at all? So many fascinating creatures like bullywugs, giant crocodiles or even pixies!”
"Oh, yes, ma'am," Bog Luck replies to Erephema's comment. "The swamp is surely magnificent, but I would be careful out there. Don't have to worry too much about the bullywugs since the lizardfolk and some adventurers took care of most of them a while back, but you might want to look out for zombies and other undead. This is the Mere of Dead Men, after all," he says with a grin. "Rumor has it, there might even be a black dragon or two in that swamp," he continues, gesturing to the mists beyond the roadhouse. "And who knows what else lurks in there?"
The conversation regarding the prevalence of 'zombies', 'undead'and 'dead men' successfully draws the attention of the necro-alchemist woman, and she suddenly starts to express signs of curiosity. She will agree with the proposal of Valek but stare at her tiny friend with a concerned look:
"What do you suggest, Valek? Should we take the risk of endangering the life of Fytos? You see, he rarely talks. And what if his crisis calls fail to reach our ears?"
Valek looks at both Kalisia and Fytos. “ We are all here for the same reason. Accepted the same risks. If anyone feels otherwise, they to decide what is best for them. I’m confident we can all hold our own and help each other when needed. Your call, friends.”
"Well," Bog Luck begins, "if you plan on traipsing through the swamp, I suggest you do so in the morning. Less likelihood of running into some baddies then."
"I agree," Captain Albright says. Then turning to his men, "You boys get some shut eye, We'll be leaving for Neverwinter in the morning."
"Yes, sir, Captain Albright, sir," Terrence replies. "C'mon guys." The caravan guards follow their leader back to their room.
Erephyma looks over her companions “Something tells me whatever we are after isn’t going to be there in the morning. Although I guess they could be setting some sort of trap for us. Assuming we aren’t about to go to sleep, should we have a walk around the outside of the warehouse and see if there are any other entrances?”
While still discreetly keeping tabs on Bog, the Captain and their men, Valek listens keenly to Erephyma before turning to his teammates. “I agree with Erephyma. We were hired to investigate occurrences related to the caravan and ensure the goods arrive safely in Neverwinter. From what we’ve learned collectively, the issue may lie here. At the very least, based on Gristle Pete’s experiences, the warehouse may be a good place to start looking.” Valek pauses just a moment to ensure the suspect crews actually turned in for the night. “What say, you? Shall we give it a go?”
As you stand there talking, you notice Bog Luck and Captain Albright, leader of the caravan guards, coming out of the warehouse.

"I think they're involved too."

Once Bog, the captain and their men are gone, Erephyma casually but quietly starts to walk around the Warehouse beckoning for her teammates to follow.
With one eye open for any signs of trouble, Valek follows Erephyma without hesitation, encouraging the others to do the same.
