I am a DM with moderate experience. This game is one that I started a while ago, but that flopped early on. I have since gotten more experience in play-by-post games and would like to try running this game again. Some basic rules of my games:
My game is LGBTQIA+ friendly
If you know that you will be unable to post for a little while, please let me know beforehand
I am looking for 4-6 players that can post around 3 times a week. This campaign will be a mix of roleplay and combat. Once the players have been established I will create an out-of-character chat and then later a gameplay thread. This thread will be accepting applications until April 10th.

If you are interested in playing please post your application here. Character creation rules are that all characters start at 4th level and can be any class on DnDBeyond and can play any official race. Homebrew is allowed if I approve it. When generating stats you can roll (rerolls ones once, if the total is less than 74 you can reroll altogether) or use Point Buy (you can elect to use Point Buy after rolling). You can use all TCOE optional features and can multiclass if you want. You can use fixed HP or roll (rerolling ones). We will be using variant encumbrance but everyone starts with a feat. All characters start with their base starting equipment (and can "sell" items they don't want for 90% the written price) as well as an additional 150 gp and 2 magic item points (which you spend to buy a magic items with the following cost - which is halved for consumable items: common = 0.5 point, uncommon = 1 point, rare = 2 point). If you want to buy any magic items with your additional gold PM me for their price, and when you buy magic items add the cost of the base item if applicable (for instance, to buy magic armor you must have or buy the base armor). When writing an application, please submit it in the following format:
Character Name:
Race:
Class:
Background:
Backstory:
Stats: (rolls or point buy)
Character Sheet: (link)
After characters have been selected we can work individually on rooting them in the world. In the meantime, if you have any questions feel free to PM me. Thank you for your interest and good luck with applications!
Backstory: My power arises from my family's bloodline. I inherited the blessing passed down from my family. My powers caused destruction and even a death when they became evident, and I was treated as a criminal. I became a sorcerer because sensing something special in me, a stranger passing through town taught me how to control my gift. After deciding to leave with Gadrial, he taught me how to harness my powers to the fullest potential. He became not only my mentor, but my closest friend and compatriot. Unfortunately he fell in one of the battles raging across the land.
Afterwards I became a war courier for years, enjoying the vagaries of the open road. Life carried on smoothly from saddle to barstool to battlefield for a time, until I got caught up in the machinations of a rebel force seeking to supplant a local power. Unbeknownst to me, a contract I took involved the delivery of an artifact that would have delegitimized this local power. Though I quickly handed it over to the sovereign's agents when they confronted me, and swore secrecy on pain of death, I still found it wise to depart the realm I've always known. So I've set out for new lands and, while trepidatious, I hope to find more bold and adventurous companions for whatever's next.
Stats: (rolls or point buy) (Rolled on DnD Beyond): 9 16 16 12 14 17
Total: 120gp (30 of 150gp left over unused) (Didn't bother with taking, then selling starting items - Crannoc would start in the forest, not near a place where he could sell those things)
Backstory: Born and raised in the deep forest by his mother, who herself was the child of a dryad and a wood elf, Crannoc has always felt as one with nature, worshipping Silvanus almost as soon as he could talk. From his father, an aasimar, came something entirely different, a divine spark of innate magic. One that makes Crannoc keenly aware that when something supernatural threatens his beloved forest, he must venture forth to act. And so it was when the spirits of the wood sensed the drums of war threatening and greater evil spirits stirring in the darkness, Crannoc was sent forth to be champion of those who do not often have a voice among the councils of the mighty of Kozlite. On a quest to restore thriving nature to its rightful place in war-torn world. How exactly to do that, Crannoc is not quite sure yet... things make far less sense outside the forest than they do within. One day, Crannoc tells himself as he murmurs a prayer, he will return to his beloved majestic groves and shady glens and all will be right with the the domain of Silvanus.
Backstory: Kalash grew up with his human mother Pirinth. They moved often as his mother was a merchant by trade. She rarely ever spoke about his father, but 1 look in a mirror makes it clear that his father is an Orc. As he came of age the world was ravaged by wars. People became desperate and that meant violence. Kalash use his strength to defend himself and his mother, but it was not enough. The military recruiters offered safe haven for those that enlisted. Kalash joined the military against his mother's wishes. He enjoyed the training and the skills he learned, but the life of a soldier is a hard one. Over time Kalash became numb to the killing. The dead were just barely numbers to him. He made no friends, well at least none since his friend Lathis died in an earlier skirmish.
During a raging battle his unit was routed and during his attempt to retreat he was knocked off a nearby cliff. He readily accepted death as he fell unconscious from the fall. Kalash was surprised to find he was alive, in a great deal of pain, but alive. He found himself in a small picturesque glade surrounded by large stone formations. He was alarmed when he saw his savior, a large stone giant. It took some time, but Kalash built respect for the giant as he slowly healed. Perhaps it was the peacefulness of the glade, but Kalash felt as if he had woken from a bad dream. He knew he cannot be a soldier blindly following orders anymore. The giant Brathic offered him an apprenticeship and Kalash took it. He learned the traditions of the stone giants and how they craft mystical runes. He also misses his mother. He left the glade as a Rune Knight and went to find his mother. Once back home he found a note. His mother had left to continue being a traveling merchant. He started laughing as he should have know with how stubborn his mother is. With his limited coin he decided to use his skills as an adventurer and left onto his own journey.
Backstory: Sylaester still had nightmares. Waking up in the middle of the night, out of breath and soaked in sweat...Not very often, fortunately, not any more... Nightmares of that awful, horrible spring night in the pouring rain, just getting to the last bend in the road with supplies for the Inn when that awful roaring flood swept away his home village and his friends and family. The waters would have gotten him, too, but he left his cart and horse and headed for high ground. Since then he has vagabonded about the country side, doing odd jobs here and there but really finding a knack for verse and singing playing various instruments in inns and pubs, with a little scribing and map making work on the side. Along the way he met a girl named Fey who suggested he travel to the City and enroll in the College of Bards...
Backstory: Ur has always felt like an outsider to the rest of the world with his head lost in the clouds. His family tribe regularly stayed on the move avoiding conflict and enjoying the forest. As a young furbolg he came upon a curious crystal that when held up to the light mapped out all of Kozlites constellations. In awe of its beauty and majesty Ur has spent the last 200 years traveling the lands and gazing at the night skies looking for the places the crystal he found showed him.
Backstory: Laral joined the city watch and learned to fight off lawbreakers so that she could help maintain peace and order in her city. On a serial killer case, she found herself cornered and without weapons facing the killer. As she was about to be killed, a voice in the shadows told her to reach out her hand. As she did so, a spear made from the shadows formed in her hand. She killed the serial killer with it. Over time, her mysterious patron taught her to be more ruthless in her following of the law. As she followed orders, the voice gave her more abilities, as well as a mystical cloak that enhanced her vision. Now she seeks out hardened criminals, while also trying to determine the identity of her unknown patron.

Character Name: Aalsan Inaleth Race: Pallid Elf Class: Ranger (1), Warlock (3) - The Great Old One patron Background: Far Traveler Backstory: Aalsan and his kind are not traditionally like other elves, in appearance or territory. For Aalsan, while his home was on the surface world, his wilderness was the Underdark and his enemy the twisted creatures that inhabited those lands. The horrors of the below claimed many lives and would have likely taken Aalsan's life in time, but instead it caught something much more valuable.. his curiosity. With his trances now filled the whispers of the Ones Without Mouths, Aalsan continues to balance his intrigue with his sanity, careful to not lose his will while following the guidance of the unknown patron.. or is it patrons? The voices have urged him away from his home -- what was left for him there anyway -- towards distant lands in search of further knowledge, exploiting Aalsan's curiosity and his genuine good nature for its own goals. Character Name: Hormor
Race: Goliath
Class: Blood Hunter
Background: Soldier
Backstory: Hormor was born into a clan of Goliaths who celebrate one's strength in war as the most important trait of a person. General Hormor, for he had served as a mercenary general during a human war, has developed great military tactics, and finds that the best people to test it on aren't the good ones, but tend to be the bad ones. He targets evildoers in order to make himself stronger, not to help others.
I love the idea working the characters into the world and starting out that way... very interested!

Character Name: Maggwyn
Race: Variant Feral Tiefling
Class: Rogue 3 / Barbarian 1
Background: Criminal/Spy
Backstory: Maggwyn grew up your common thief. She was good at it, she liked doing it, and she didn't plan on changing her ways. She found what she needed when she needed and no one got hurt. Well, at least that's what she liked to tell herself. She didn't kid herself that it was more than it was, but she was ok with that. As the evil grows throughout the world, she starts changing her tune as even though she is a thief, she isn't evil. She starts cleaning up her ways and tries to find ways to help rather than hinder. As cults start to form bringing about the change in the world she doesn't want to see, she becomes a bit more wild, more chaotic.
