Im a fan of the ridiculous titles Capcom give their games.
This is to gauge interest in a new version of a Campaign I ran a few years ago both on here and at a table. It revolves around a group of characters waking up in a world not their own, surrounded by complete strangers and thrown into a series of challenges in order to survive and return to their individual homes.
In the original, The Character's were introduced to eachother in the entrance to a sealed cave system. However in the Redux Players are given a sort of Nexus point, A Large ship sailing on a vast, subterranean ocean. While she sky is blue and the sun burn bright, it is just a illusion to mask the ceiling of the cave. This ship is a place for the characters to relax, rest, Count the loot won in the floor they just conquered and converse amongst themselves without fear of being attacked.
The cave consists of thirty floors, each with it's own challenge that will see the characters battle monsters, solve puzzles and Possibly become lost on the endless ocean each floor is hold. Every 3rd floor will have one port town where the characters can interact with NPC's and spend their hard earned gold or trade magical items. However the player's will have to find this port town before confronting the challenge of that floor, as when the challenge is complete; They will be taken to the next floor with no way to return.
Character's start at level 3 and threw the milestone system, Will gain a level for every floor they complete upto 20. ROll for ability scores. Starting equipment for the class is standard and you can choose one common magical item to have at the beginning. Will be played text based on Discord, with the possibility for voice chat sometimes.
Im not a map maker, so everything will be within the Theater of the mind and I will do my best to describe everything. However I will have reference pictures for the Port town's, Ship and environment's the character's find themselves in. At the end of every floor, Players will be given the choice of taking the loot for the floor or forgoing it for guaranteed better loot on the next floor. This effect stack's five times. I will roll a d10 at the end of every floor for the amount of loot won and will assign the loot from a table. For every floor pass the first an additional d4 of loot is added.
Each character has the ability to respawn once per floor, However if a character die's during the floor's challenge the will only respawn once the challenge has been completed. If a character uses their respawn and dies again, they can be ressurected however with each death The rarity of the loot will go down overall. So if a player dies five times, that floor's loot will be a few pieces of copper with maybe a rusted longsword. Backstory's will have a role within the cave. If Interested, Roll a character below. I'll be ending recruiting next thrusday.

"grandpa" Salkur, deep gnome artificer/sorcerer: Spiderwrangler's Forged in Chaos | Pepin, Human Artificer/cleric: Goblin horde | Mixtli, Volcano Genasi Artificer: Champions of the Citadel
Braltyn was born in an area of sea salt marsh flats or tidal swamps. He grew up as most Grung did in his cast pod with his pod mates. One day while hunting mushrooms Bratlyn walked around a hill, to the left three complete circles to be sure he did not miss any mushrooms, he looked up to find himself somewhere else wonderful. Colors were brighter, the air sweeter, the water silkier, everything was softer and seemed to reflect more light which seemed to come from everywhere. "What are you?" He heard a tall stark humanoid female say as she picked him up before dropping him and wringing her hand. "Your spicy and entertaining! I think I'll keep you till you bore me." She says as Bratlyn tried to jump away. She caught him mid leap tossing him in a bag. Bratlyn spent years being tested and played with, brought out to entertain and be licked, and then again very little time at all until one day he woke up on the deck of a ship.
Zancoril died trying to fight off hags who came for the tribe. Then he began to breathe again. His resilience managed to save the tribe, but he came away with strange knowledge and powers. Wild fey magic runs through his veins. He knew it was only a matter of time until something strange happened like being transported to the Cave...
Will be played on Discord. Another reason for the nexus point is for characters to "Take a break" In case someone cant post, their character can just hangout on the ship while the other characters do something else on the current floor. Im not going to set a post minimum or limit, Post as often and frequent as you want but know that if your character is not present for the floor challenge, they will not receive any of the loot awarded from that floor or gain a level.
There are five player slots, this is the best number for later challenges within the cave.
There will be server rules within the Discord that I will expect everyone to follow, primarily put in place to ensure everyone can have a good time.
The respawn mechanic will be explained in game and may be changed depending on the Class selection of the players chosen.
If you have any further questions, please let me know!

Excellent question!
The character's I am looking for are ones that are easily adaptable to various settings and challenges, Being comfortable on the water is a big thing as the characters will be spending ALOT of time on their ship. A simple and precise backstory that we can explore and flesh out together, nothing epic or vague.
No evil characters, A pair of character's arguing or growing uneasy with eachother is all well and good; But I cant have one character go all blood crazy on the rest while they are sleeping. While there will be a fair bit of conflict, there will also be npc's to interact with and challenges that will test their mind. Keep that in mind, A low charisma/Intelligence might mean the difference between being friendly with A npc or being run out of town.

Xyrelor has lived in the shadows all his live. Trying to con people in believing he was someone else, using his excellent disguises, and of course his forgery skill. Lately he had tried to con himself onto certain ships that were transporting valuables for the nobles of his city. However, as he was trying to con one of the captains he suddenly found himself awake one this ship, with nothing he knew in sight.

Here’s Casey Larue, sailor, adventuress and entertainer. A stunningly beautiful blonde girl of mixed elvish and human ancestry, dressed in black leather armor and high boots, with a rapier, a lute, and a rapier wit. She’s skilled at handling boats and also handy with opening locks and getting into places she shouldn’t.
I Want to know your character's personal motivation to keep pushing forward, You may roleplay as much or as little as you want. It's upto the character's if/when they leave their ship and there will beb NPC's to interact with on certain floors.
Character's will be spending ALOT of time aboard a ship with essential strangers at the beginning, SO Im not looking for a standoff rogue who skulks in a corner. Im looking for character's who can interact and form relationships with one another.
You may use any source's availible to you to create your character, However I do ask that you keep fairplay in mind when creating your character. Do not create something that would be considered "Broken" create a living, breathing character that you can enjoy playing and other's can enjoy interacting with and fighting beside.
Backstories can be explored and fleshed out IF you, the player want them to be. I could incorporate a character's backstory into a floor of the cave, Effectively giving that character a floor dedicated to them for character growth. Again, that is upto the player. If you want to keep your story self contained and out of the spotlight, just keep it short and precise.
I'll toss my hat in the ring with Erebus, the drakewarden (ranger) tiefling.
Name -> Erebus Race -> Feral Tiefling Class -> Drakewarden Ranger Backstory (Short considering the setting. Will expand it if needed.)
Erebus, like everyone else in his tribe, spent his early years learning about Sardior, the deity at the center of the entire tribe. The legend goes; the fountain in the center of the village is a direct conduit between the Ruby Palace and the Prime Material Plane. Though it's not known why, it's said Sardior sends a draconic spirit to create a bond with someone worthy. On Erebus' 29th year, the fountain began to glow a brilliant blue. The light shot out from the top of the fountain shooting up into the midday sky, before rocketing back to the earth and infusing itself within Erebus, leaving a what appears to be a tattoo of a dragon eye on his left inner wrist. Being chosen as the next Drakewarden by Sardior, Erebus finally got to retire from his life as a weaver, and set out to find danger with his new draconic companion.
