Faction details: The Open Hands are a group of clerics and priests devoted to the gods of health and death. Their temples across Northmorrah serve as hospitals and mortuaries, healing the sick and injured, and properly caring for the dead. They don't have much influence on a large scale, but they are invaluable to everyday citizens, travellers, soldiers, and anyone else who may need their services. They are lead by a group of five high priests, who coordinate logistics, as well as oversee continent-wide upkeep and operation of the temples. The day-to-day operations are overseen by the head priest of each temple, with the rest of the members performing most of the duties. Occasionally members of the temples are sent out to towns and villages that do not have a temple close by, or to aid those who are not capable of making the journey to a temple.
Doctor Merlot is one of the clerics sent out to towns and villages. He sees death as a kind of disease, and during his travels he seeks any knowledge about the act of death as he can, in hopes of one day eradicating it. This is a fruitless endeavor, but his obsession blinds him to the truth.
Background: Uril originates from the feywilds. He was the middle son of a lesser branch of one of the minor noble families of the Seelie Court. At a young age, he showed a great affinity to the magic in the feywild. His talent could have helped to expand his families influence. However, much to his family's disdain, he was never able to control his magic. It would burst fourth in wild surges whenever how emotions got out of control. This is when the Order of the Emerald Eye found him. They offered to take Uril, train him, and make him a guardian of the Seelie Court. Uril readily accepted, eager to show house worth. At the age of 15, he left the Feywild to go to the deep forests of Northmorrah on the material plane. He began his training, learning to focus and control the wild magic within him. Unlike others of his ilk, his skills did not lean towards the subtler arts, his talents more focused on the martial. With years of training and practice, he is now ready to serve the Seelie Court and protect the paths the Feywild, along with his new family in the Emerald Eye.
Faction Details: The Order of the Emerald Eye is the arm of the Seelie Court in the material plane. Their main purpose is protecting the deep forests of Northmorrah, to ensure they stay uncorrupted and the paths to the Feywild are undisturbed. While not overly interested in politics, they keep an eye and ear out to protect their Queens interests. While they are mostly neutral, they are a force to be reckoned with if they are threatened. There are some stories of towns falling to ruin when they expanded too far into a protected forest.
The head of the order is an archfey who reports directly to Queen Titania. The order itself is made up of a variety of different races, mostly from the feywild. Every member is recruited as a child, they are trained and brought up together. They are taught to serve the Seelie Court without question, and to see the Emerald Eye as there new family.
Akanos was left on the doorstep of Malywn the Halfing. Being unmarried and having no children, Malwyn takes him in, not caring that he is of infernal bloodline. Akanos or “Kane” as his mother liked to call him, was an outcast among the other children, being called a devil and a fiend. His lineage was not his only issue. At age 13 he discovered he held powerful magic. Shadow magic. Not wanting to hurt his mother or anyone else, he asked to be sent away in order to learn to control his powers. His mother, with a sad heart, sent him to Eregos to learn and study from Aunt Aarondil. With the help of clerics and paladins and his aunt, Akanos learned to control his magic and to use it for good, becoming an investigator for the city and an advisor on arcane subjects. But now tensions are heated between the other factions. Sivinshire needs a representive, a champion to solve the problems that plague the High Council.
Faction Details: Akanos belongs to Sivinshire, a region north of the continent. Home to mostly humans, Halfings and elves, Sivinshire is a peaceful regions with small hamlets and villages, the only major city in the region being the capital, Eregos. Sivinshire provides meat, dairy, lumber, and fish as it’s major exports, importing most of its metal, as the region is poor for mining and has very few dwarves. The representative of the High Council is Lady Aarondil, Akanos’ aunt, sister to Akanos’ adoptive mother.

Character Name: Rhúnen T'Vel Race: High-Elf Class: Monk, Way of the Cobalt Soul Background: Acolyte
Faction Details: The monks of Marblestead are scholars and educators, devoted to the study and pursuit of knowledge. From this faction, the heads of the great city's library and university - elevated, respected leaders within their own domains - sit on the High Council and maneuver as best they can to further their own interests. Almost all magical / scientific / industrial innovation in the region begins at the monastery, and conflict often arises from their withholding of information - deemed unnecessary to share, or considered a violation of their strict code of ethics - to the frustration of the other factions.

Falling somewhere between a temple and a school, the Seers of Savras, based in the House of the All-Seeing Orb, have an honorary seat on the High Council as advisors, and are often asked to use their skills to peer into the future to determine if a course of action is the correct one. Of course the future is rarely that clear, but they do their best to interpret the signs sent to them by Savras. Because of their abilities, they wield a great deal of sway over the Council - anyone in the upper echelons of the Seers would have the opportunity to covertly direct the course of Marblestead in any direction they wished, and there are rumours that the Seers have much more power than claimed. The Seers of course vehemently deny these rumours. They are neutral advisors, nothing more...
Emlyn is one of their most promising students, often receiving personal tutelage from Hogun Throom, the High Prophet himself, second only to the Great Oracle of Savras. When the member factions of the High Council were asked to provide a champion for a new team, he was a strong choice, though he personally wonders why one of the qualified Sages wasn't chosen instead, rather than a Truth Seeker student.
Thank you to everyone who has submitted applications so far, there's a hell of a lot of great characters and factions being presented.
There's still three days left as per my original post, but as applications are becoming more sparse, I may close early so I can select the players quicker. Anyone holding out on sections or works in progress, or even if you've viewed and not submitted yet, get those ideas in! Thanks!
Character Name: Annika Fedorovna Race: Air Genasi Class: Sorcerer Background: Soldier
Faction Details: Marblestead began with a somewhat haphazard militia of citizens helping to defend the growing city, but it has since grown into a large and powerful faction of its own. Led by the Black General and his lieutenants, the military is now a highly trained and regimented force of fighters and spellcasters, and the General's success both on the field of battle and politically at home has won him a seat on the High Council.
Well-financed and supported (if uneasily) by the other factions, high-ranking officers enjoy a life of comfort. Patriotism also runs high within the ranks despite a nigh-unhealthy competition between the magical and non-magical divisions that has fostered tension in recent years. Still, the General remains a popular figure with the public, and his troops are essential for any attempted venture beyond the surrounding region.
Player Note: This is my second idea submission! I'm reluctant to get too descriptive so that (if picked) I have room to expand after talking to the other players. Also, I have a homebrew idea for the Sorcerous Origin - up for discussion if allowed. Thanks!

The Corvus Flock is a migratory community of Kenku that fly back and forth across Northmorrah on an annual basis. These so-called "redeemed" Kenku are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of a band of Kenku whose powers of speech, flight, and creativity were restored. The current matriarch of Corvus Flock is Poe's great-grandmother; she is one of very few Kenku surviving that remembers life before the restoration.
Corvus have chosen a migratory existence, and they make an annual journey from one end of the continent to the other. Apart from their secluded nesting grounds, they don't really own much in the way of property. During pauses in their migration, they tend to squat on large farms and unimproved plots. As these Kenku still retain a strong sense of obedience, however, they tend to leave as soon almost as they are asked to (though the younger Kenku resent this). Like Poe, many support their families financially either by playing music & entertaining crowds or by hiring themselves out for short-term labor (as medics, handymen, and messengers).
The Corvus Flock heard the High Council's call for faction representatives to come forth, but that's not actually why Poe has been left to represent the flock. Truth be told, they weren't particularly concerned with this grand meeting except as an opportunity to follow large crowds and make money on the fringes. However, during their travels to Marblestead, Poe managed to crash into a windmill and break his left wing. It was an extensive fracture, so he has lost his ability to fly for more than a few seconds at a time, as it is very painful. It is likely this condition will eventually heal, but that looks to be a process of several months.
So Corvus Poe, one of the many musicians of the Flock, will stay behind in Marblestead to earn his daily bread. If that means he is to be recruited as a "champion," then who is he to argue? Frankly, he's not sure what the fuss is all about, but where there are crowds, there are usually coins to be made in singing and theatrics.

Each trade within the Guild has a speciality and operates through a tightly-controlled recommendation system, all couched in euphemism. The Artisans walk a careful balance between true craftsmanship and criminal activity. This is the faction that paint houses and takes books; the faction of tailors and mapmakers; and their work is flawless.
The Artisans are everywhere, though it’s never been admitted on record. And while the other factions vacillate between denying they exist and despising them as criminals, each and every member of the High Council has done business with the Guild. And no one is sure which seat the Guild holds.
