I have been running a remix campaign of Descent into Avernus.
So far my players have witnessed the Champion, not the Companion, pull Elturel into itself. This happened all around them.
Refugees then travelled from Elturel to Baldur's Gate.
However, I am in need of a couple of extra players now that some have had to drop out.
Here are the rules:
You will be creating a character at level 3
You will be playing as a character that was in Elturel at time of collapse. However, you were a refugee that arrived at Baldur's Gate before the other players. You have already agreed to enlist in the Flaming Fist for service of 5 years or until the proper authority releases you from your contract. You were in a party that was attacked by bandits on the road.
Any official source is permitted including Tasha's and UA. No homebrew.
Ability scores can be either Standard Array or Rolled.
Players will need to post at least once per day. Characters will be puppeted during combat if needed.
Character Advancement will be milestone.
Take average for hit points.

Chalyssa was engaged to be married to Elia in three weeks time when Elturel collapsed, the two had grown up together: summers in countryside hunting and riding, winters spent sneaking out and running the streets.......to say their parents were disappointed at them signing up with the Watch was an understatement.
Chalyssa was still shell-shocked when she stumbled into Baldurs Gate with the rest, Elia's screams still echo in her ears whenever she closes her eyes and she had nothing left to lose by signing up with the Flaming Fist for service of 5 years.
And now she's got a bunch of jumped up yokels trying to rob her....

He found, as expected, that few places were comfortable with a bugbear, so did not find a place he could stay on at until he reached Baldur's Gate. There he signed on to a mercinary company, and they not only accepted him, but pushed him to learn all he could. They found him a wizard master, who trained him in the ways of the more martial of wizardly arts. Vlar traveled back to his clan once every six months, to bring money back to Clarus, his female, and to spend a few weeks with his cubs. Belnith barely escaped and made her way to Baldur's Gate. She has seen death before, but destruction on that scale ignited a fury in her heart. Backstory: Originally from one of the dwarven barbarian clans native to the Spine of the World in Northern Faerun, Barnock has gradually migrated southward, ending up in Elturel shortly before the calamitous Fall into Avernus. Having been on the outskirts of town, he was able to escape and make it to Baldur's Gate where he joined the Flaming Fist. Barnock found out early in life that he got restless staying in one place for too long, and has been a wanderer and a far traveller, although he tries to make it back to his home tribe at least every other year. Lately, though, he has felt aimless, like he is searching for something but has no idea what it is. Something unknown is calling to him, and he is no longer content to just wander about purposeless.

Detailed Background (if interested):
Zip started out as a goblin Warlock for a powerful Dao. The power from his patron helped greatly to ascertain his respect in his tribe which thrived through trade in slavery. Some day Zip devised a plan to divert an investigation on missing townsfolk, actually turned slaves, to an old green hag, implying that the hag must have eaten the missing persons. The hag barely escaped alive but managed to leave a trinket for Zip, suggesting that a higher being than his Dao is using it for communication. In truth the old hag could speak through it and manipulated Zip to believe that he could access much greater powers by going through an ancient ritual hoping that this would kill Zip and disperse the tribe. Needless to say, Zip was drawn to power. Additionally, not wanting his current patron to know about his newfound opportunity, he kept it secret and pursued the hag's instructions until he finished the ancient ritual that was rigged by the hag. For the last step of the ritual, the hag had devised a trap that would slow down Zip and kill him with certainty, even if he used magic which he tried hopelessly. However, the use of the Dao's power drew his attention too and he intervened, saving Zip and therewith finishing the ritual successfully. The hag's magic however was so deeply embedded into the ritual that it changed Zip more than he had bargained for. He became a Hexblood with no knowledge of his past but a resentful patron, who is still not sure if, how, and when he will punish Zip for his foolishness. Until then, Zip will have to try to find and live a normal, new life, to the extend to which it is possible given what he is.
