Braddik keeps his eyes on the birds as he and his friends creep through the strange flower field. "Yeah, this has 'We're being watched.' written all over it. We should certainly keeps our wits about us in this place."
Perception: 4
DM Question:
Besides the birds, do we see any other signs of life here in the woods?
Braddik F 1: Besides the birds, do we see any other signs of life here in the woods?
Odds Unlikely [These woods are a strange haunted place, any creatures brave enough to enter would be very wary of other creatures.] : [05] Exceptional yes!
Following the vague path you all see a distant glowing ahead. As you near the light intensifies, long shadows stretch out from it, a confusing alternation of light and dark as you move forward partial obscures the source. As far as you all can make out there seems to be some kind of clearing ahead, a huge Black oak at its centre.
After so long in the gloom the light hurts your eyes as you approach.
You all hear a light wry laughter echo through the trees. It sounds all around you, and then stops. The returning silence is all consuming, your breath again harsh in your ears.
"creepy you say? It scared the hell out of me! I have a feeling we're not welcome here... I mean, neither are we in the rest of the labyrinth, but herre there seems to be something supernatural and magical going on here that's not benevolent to us. We should be VERY careful."
Grigor always seems to create and end a little fire bolt in his hand. Like he wants to prove that if the worst comes to the worst, he is able to cast and react.
"And...am I dreaming, or is the oak over there completely black? "
Question to DM:
Is the blackness of the oak the result of some kind of magic?

"This is fey, I'm almost certain." Kassandra says has she advances with Braddik. As they near the black tree, she peers into it's boughs for signs of an ambush.
Perception: 10 (rolled with disadvantage if the light in the bough is dim)
As you all enter the dark grove the trunk of the mighty black oak towers above you, its branches thick and twisted spread out and roof the entire clearing. The strange light yousaw at a distance turns out to be many luminous moths, the are quite large, their wingspans are about two feet tip to tip. Strange patterns writhe across their wings and you find them quite distracting. In fact it is very hard to look away.
You find you wits wandering and all you want to do is stare at the strange patterns...

Grigor still hears Kasandra start the sentence as he looks further at the tree and the moths hoping to find out if its magical, as he suddenly falls into a hypnotic state. "That looks so beautiful." is all he can say
Xorin sees the last of his companions eyes fix on the large moths covering the lower part of the trunk. They all stand paralysed, vacant look on their faces. As he shakes the shoulder of Grigor he notices movement in the carpet of leaves that cover the cold ground!
Foot long grubs break through the leaf litter and begin to crawl up the loges of his companions. Several try to latch onto his legs as well but they are easily squashed.
Grub attacks:
Ayrlin 19
Braddik 20
Corvus 8
Grigor 18
Kasandra 17
Perhaps even more disturbingly Xorin notices that Earling has gone!
The majority of the grey thick grubs sink their mandibles into soft flesh.
Ayrlin 4
Braddik 2
Grigor 2
Kasandra 2
