Lorival moves out from the cover on the roadside. She approaches the Two interesting strangers with the rest of her companions. Smiling and waving awkwardly, "Hullo, hullo. Well that was a pickle!."
The lady speaks and Lorival nods and smiles and says under her breath,..."pretty."
Then the Tall tanned warrior of the plains greets them with his suspicious words, "Well you had our help anyways, and it wasn't for the asking, nyrrrr." She stuck out her tongue.
She lights up and goes a little red when they are all called heroes. Heroes, gosh!
She was in favour of Teric's suggestion, dark woods and goblins did not mix well.
Her smile at seeing Teclis emerge from the trees, quickly turned to a frown, and she retorts in Elven, "Not to mention Elven arrogance to chastise Humans instead of following his own advice. Who's to say they are not watching now." She stuck her tongue out again, this time directed at the elf.
She calls after Maisor, "Tell Otik to get lots of potatoes ready won't you!"
Looking at the dead goblins on the road she felt an uneasiness in her stomach...When did we all become killers?
Teclis walked over to the goblin. He pulled his arrow out of the neck it was in, spitting on the ground and cursing in elvish.
Speaking in elvish to Breenie and Maisor "I have been tracking these goblins a great distance from my homeland of Silvanesti. There is a large platoon of goblins about 1/2 a day's walk to the east of Solace. They speak of a blue crystal staff as well as huge armies to the north. Do you know of this? I will accompany you and your companions to learn more of these rumors as well as the Plainsman and woman."
Turning to the woman he smiled. "I m Killian," he said nodding. "My over-eager friends are, Demek, Teclis, Breenie Teric and Lorival" mentioning them each in turn. "Maisor just ran ahead."
"We were heading into the Inn when we saw the flash of light," Killian waited for a second to see if one of the two strangers might explain, then no response forthcoming shrugged, "Anyways, we will get you settled in."
"And you can explain to us what are goblins doing chasing you." he made it clear it wasn't a question.
Riverwind after hearing the elven elite decides to follow the group the Inn. He turns and says “Goldmoon are you coming”
Goldmoon turns to the group and says “Please lead the way. “ She turns to the elf and says “ Thank you”
The group makes its way to the Inn. The Inn is busy as it always is this time of night. The smell of spiced potato’s fills the air. As the group tries to find seats next the hearth. Thier attempt gets taken by an Old man telling stories.
Once the group is moving toward the Inn, and Teric notices that Teclis seems to be following, he turns back to the elf with a friendly enough expression. "So...do you have a name, Elf?"
Edit : probably obvious, but Teric is speaking in Common.
Teclis embarrassingly looking towards Breenie and Maisor and replies in very broken common "...name...Teclis..." Then looks away and mumbles something in elven.
As Breenie approached and quietly returned Killian’s arrow, she caught the tail end of his words to the strangers. She smiled faintly. That was one of the things she liked about Killian. He didn’t always say much, but when he did it had weight. Demek, too. She was glad they were dealing with that situation.
Breenie hadn’t given the strangers much thought until that moment, but without goblins or condescending elves to worry about, she wondered now—about the plains people, about the staff, about why the goblins had been harassing them.
Not to mention… goblins. In Solace?
Breenie cast a glance toward Lorival, wondering if she'd heard the elf's last comments, too. Breenie had heard what the elf had said as she walked away. She hadn’t felt like dealing with him long enough to show that she’d heard him. But that didn’t mean she hadn’t taken his words into account. Only a fool turned away possibly important information, however that information was come by. Her father—the one who’d raised her, the one who mattered—hadn’t raised any fools.
As she rejoined Teric—who, bless his kind heart, was taking the time to actually speak to the elf—Breenie reluctantly acknowledged the elf’s words.
“When we’re all together again, I will pass along your warning,” she said, in Elven nearly as halting as the elf’s Common, since she rarely spoke it. With a suppressed sigh, she added, “And your… offer.”
No point in trying to tell anyone anything right this second, not with us spread out all along the road to the inn.
“Yes,” she muttered to Teric, almost as an afterthought. “It was insulting.”
As they finally arrived at the Inn, the scent of cooking food set Breenie’s stomach to rumbling.
The Inn of the Last Home rests high cradled in the vallenwood tree it is another building that sits high in the trees like the rest of buildings in Solace. Warm laughter tumbles out from the inn as the party makes its ways up the stairs. The worn steps creak as each of you step up the curved stair case leading up the inn to the familiar carved door to some. The Inn of the Last Home never changes. The polished wooden bar curves around several living branches. An old man dressed in long robes with a white beard and tall crooked hat weaves stories for the crowd. The delicate stained glass windows behind the bar are polished by Otik Sandath the bar keeper. He turns waves the people he knows he then motions to the barmaid. For some of you this is young lady looks familiar it is Tika who used to sweep the floors in the bar. The man and woman you escorted in takes a seat by the old man telling tales. You each over this..
" I hear the High Seeker is looking for staff with glows blue." This conversation then dies down as an old man looks up as Riverwind makes eye contact with him. Before anyone can say anything the Old Man looks at Goldman and rushes over. " I for see great and terrible destiny in your eyes. There is a blue staff you must return to Xak Tsaroth. There in a few days you shall face your greatest peril in the contest for the greatest gift given to man." Tika runs overs to Goldmoon "Fizban quit spinning your tales again." The curly red head moves Goldmoon away from Fizban. Tika moves the group to a big table in the back. She then looks over says "Maisor will you be singing tonite?" Tika then notices Teclis the elf stands out here as does the plainsmen. "Keep your voices low and hope that the new High Seeker's guards don't come in. What will you being drinking?"
"Water for me and what ever the special is today."
He slides a steel piece toward Tika.
"What ever else they want I'll buy the first round."
Demek leans back into his seat, his mustache tickles his nose not as use to it yet he smoothes it out and listens to Maisor play and the old man telling tales.
OOC: Steel is the currency in DL universe correct? I believe I remember that.
When the old man had begun spinning his tales, Maisor had obligingly switched to background music, skillfully choosing rhythms and melodies that punctuated the cadences of the tales. Now, as he sits in a chair near the fireplace, Maisor's fingers continue plucking and strumming his lute as he watches his friends and the two strangers enter the Inn. His face registers surprise to see Teclis follow them in, but surprise quickly melts into a sly smile.
Maisor brings his current song to an end and walks over to the group just as the old man rushes over and begins berating the plainsman. Maisor saddles up to Teclis and, in almost a whisper, says into the elf's ear in Elven, "Welcome back to Solace, old friend." Teclis gives Maisor an unreadable stare, and as Tika intervenes and ushers the group to one of the big tables, Maisor attempts to join them.
"Maisor, will you be singing tonight?" the redhead asks him, raising her eyebrows. Her eyes shift back toward the old man, giving Maisor a silent message.
Maisor smiles knowingly and gives a slight bow with his head. "Yes, ma'am." He replaces the lute below his rib cage and begins playing a lively jig, his voice ringing out for the room to enjoy.
Teclis embarrassingly looking towards Breenie and Maisor and replies in very broken common "...name...Teclis..." Then looks away and mumbles something in elven
Hearing the elf struggle with the common tongue Teric leaves the witty retort he had loaded in his mental crossbow unfired. He’d met a few elves in the past who preferred to speak their native tongue in mixed company, but that had been because they were pretentious ********.
"Teric"
He watches Teclis closely as Breenie responds to him in Elven, attempting to get a read on him.
“Yes,” Breenie muttered to Teric, almost as an afterthought. “It was insulting.”
Teric can’t help but laugh a little. He was still doubtful. Whatever the elf had said had not sit well with the Lorival and Breenie, but they were more than capable of putting a man in his place if need be. He’d already made one wrong assumption, why not give him a clean slate.
“Well we should get along great then.” Looking to Teclis he asks, “Do you understand common better than you speak it?” Teric remembered how long he was able to understand Gnomish before before he could stumble through a sentence well enough to order a ale.
Without waiting for and answer he looks at Breenie and Lorival. “Tell him I’m glad he’s decided to join us, and his first drink is on me.” He continues on toward the Inn muttering to himself, “I wonder if I can still get free drinks for being a Brewerson.”
Once in the Inn Teric can’t wait to sit down to some hot food and cold drink, letting the others get the conversation started.
Lorival nods to Teric, and turns to the Elf. In a lightly accented Elven she says, "Please sit with us master Elf, Teric would like you to know he is happy to buy your first drink if you'd have it." She does her best impression of a friendly reassuring smile, she was really far too on edge at the moment to feel friendly.
Goblin war parties, armies to the north, and now something about a high seeker? Solace was not the peaceful easy going place she remembered. How long till the troubles here reached her own small community?
She greeted Tika, exchanged the awkward pleasantries that acquaintances long parted do, and orders some potatoes and some warmed wine. A full stomach was the way to a sound mind her mother used to tell her."Tika dear, who is this High Seeker and his guards. We had some trouble on the road, a fight with goblins. Is that something he would be interested in?"
Lorival put her hand over her mouth, she could not believe she had just blurted it out! She knew the answer was going to be hard to hear, but this was important.
Many fates seemed to be converging in Solace tonight.
When the old man had begun spinning his tales, Maisor had obligingly switched to background music, skillfully choosing rhythms and melodies that punctuated the cadences of the tales. Killian was glad to be back home. Still, he had that dreadful fleeing that things had changed for the worst.
Goblins, high seeker ...
He entered the Inn with the others, letting them getting reacquainted and went to sit with Riverwind. He had noticed that he was taking his cue from the woman but Killian found it easier to talk to the plainsman. They were of the same sort he felt.
Once seated he waved the serving girl over, trying to get her attention among the crowd.
"Hey, Tika." he said awkwardly, his face feeling as hot as the sun. " Could I have one serving," he waited and looked at the Plainsmen, "make that three, of your famous potatoes, please. Water also and ale for me. First round is on me for my friends, ... and the elf too I guess.", He said all this in a rush, happy to have for once managed not to make an ass of himself in front of Tika. Out of the corner of his eyes, he thought he saw the woman smile at him.
"Hope Maisor plays tonight." he added " I really like him... I mean his music? well him too but not the same way, ... Rhagggg. I'll just shut up now." Tika smiled looking at him drown himself, chuckled and left with a wink to the plainswoman. Killian just shook his head.

Teric suppresses a smile as Breenie responds.
Teric looks at Breenie, then looks at Teclis, then back a Breenie, all with a deadpan expression.
"Was it something insulting?" He swings his head one more time to Teclis then back to Breenie. "It was something insulting wasn't it?"
"Yeah, let's get that drink" Smiling he joins Breenie on the walk to the Inn.
"So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth."
- Tim
OOC: FYI - Not ignoring the plainsmen. I got the impression they are heading to the Inn as well.
"So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth."

OOC: Maisor told you to escort them. You'd better do it. :)
Demek starts to walk toward the Inn he looks back at the plainsmen.
"This way"
He motions for them to follow
