Chester pats the head of his mechanical mastiff, "K-9 is a good boy and won't let anything sneak up on us." Though he says this, he does reach into his bag and pull out a hammer from his tinker's tools.

/OOC Dark Vision is always active, it allows you to see in the dark in monotone (no colours). Most races are 60’ distance, some more, and there are a whole host of spells & abilities that can change that distance. As noted, most humans don’t have Dark Vision.
A young half orc, breathing heavily as he chases after you. Skin unscarred by the trials of his youth, he wears his hair in a neat ponytails undercut sides shaved to his skin. He wears a loosely fitting red tunic with gold trim... ripped at the edges but well kept nonetheless. Underneath, patchwork studded leather armor with a large shoulder pad on his left side and gauntlets with straps of metal on them. His waist had a large supply pack secured tightly to his belt, a hearty battleaxe holstered over it was engraved with a variety of tribal symbols. Over his shoulder a quiver of homemade arrows and his bow sat.
"Oi Oi! I saw yer group leaving on what looked like an adventure and thought I could be a help." He smiles widely as if to hide his awkwardness. "Names Elegri.. I'm a hunter.. so i'm familiar with fightin all sorts of beasties. Whatcha say?"
Anima turns at the sound behind the group, preparing for an attack, however he recognizes the large figure rapidly approaching as they passed near the city gates.
”Shhh… the forest ends about 300’ ahead.. we suspect danger”.
/OOC Of note, “Dim light” only imposes disadvantage on Perception, so for combat it’s not a problem, however from 300 ft. distance you can’t see much, and not many ranged attack will hit from that range. You have options to sneak up, scout ahead etc.
Murial slowly and carefully sneaks forward on the path, approaching 50, 100, 150, 200 ft closer. When you are about 100 ft away you think you see an “unusual stick” poking out of the middle of the 20’ wide path, almost as if a branch has snapped off above and fallen down, sticking into the ground.
/OOC Everyone else, are you following, if so how & how closely, any more preparation.
/OOC @Sonic111; You should put the text [ roll ] 1d20+N* [ /roll ] *(remove spaces, & where N is your Perception modifier) in the actual “Response” entry box (and not edit that text afterwards), as then it embeds the actual “dice roll” for everyone else to see what you got. It’s also important as a “natural 20” (on the die) can often have different outcomes, instead of a total 20, especially in combat where a natural 20 doubles the damage of the dice rolled. If you look above at some previous rolls, you can see how hover over shows the die used and result. Also if you roll with “advantage” or “disadvantage” is helps to show what the two rolls are, are which of the two is selected. If you need more help with this let me know, and we can do some trial runs elsewhere to learn how to do it.
Chester and K-9 will hang out in the back of the group as they are probably not going to be very stealthy; so somewhere between fifteen to thirty feet back from the people taking the lead.

Dagny stays next to Chester as the Half-orc charges up from behind. She flinches and stands up quickly after her tarantula familiar crawls off her arm to scout ahead. “Eager, are we? Pleasure, Elegri. My name is Dagny. Anima and Muriel are looking ahead to ensure all is safe.”
She pulls out her arcane focus, a gnarled looking twig of hardened oak that appears charred. She keeps it at the ready, just in case.
As you approach closer, you still see nothing untoward except the large branch sticking out of the ground and the sound of the wind in the trees…. Closer still and you can see that where the branch is in the path, the forest ends approx. 60’ ahead, with scrubby grass and a rocky upward slope continuing onwards beyond the forest.
Chester, Dagny and Elegri hang 30 ft. behind.
/OOC Both Murial and Anima make Stealth checks again once you reach the visible range of the TB’s, also since 240’ (8r) of movement on the 1st roll.
/OOC Whilst you managed to move reasonably quietly, a 9 meets their Passive Perception, and you were still on the path and not behind any Cover, so TB’s with Blindsight 60’ they will eventually “see” you when you get physically close enough and dim light means nothing to them with Blindsight.
Now 30 ft away, the branch starts to move, sway violently to and fro, and then suddenly erupts from the ground. Standing only 3 ft high and supported on a lumpy mass of thrashing roots, this animated shrub eye-lessly ”looks” towards you, and then rushes towards it’s closest target, Murial.
Murial & Anima; You also hear the sounds of thrashing to the left and right sides of the path, but have not yet turned to look in either direction given the immediate threat in-front of you.
Chester, Dagny and Elegri are 30 ft. further behind (so 60’ total), you see within your wider field of vision three more of these creatures erupt from both sides of the 20 ft. wide path equidistant with the other creature, 2 on the left, 1 on the right.
/OOC All, if you want to perform one more Action prior to combat, feel free to do so. This could be one setup spell, a free attack if in range, putting a shield on, doing a proficient skill check, or moving closer your movement. Whilst not RAW, I think this is fair as you have all been approaching very carefully, being ready for action. (“Cool”).
/OOC If anyone else has Nature proficiency, please feel free to also make a roll as your given pre-Action.
/OOC [Tooltip Not Found] are creature type “small plant”, so an allowable check. If it had been an “aberration” or other non-Nature creature, this would at most would identify it as not “natural”. A “skill check” level for this would be a 10, as these are minor/common forest pests, so amount rolled over 10 indicates amount known.

Muriel draws her quarterstaff, and using her darkvision, looks around to see if there are anymore threats besides the one in front of them
