Valrieth's ears flatten down against her head in anticipation for a deafening honk, and she squats down so that she's below the edge of the basket. (She's only 3 ft tall, so she doesn't have to crouch much at all.) The geese seem like beasts of Prismeer and not like some corruption of the hags, and Val decides that it's time to take a risk to avoid a fight with them. As she removes a golden bauble from her pouch, she tells Aoife, "Tell them that we mean no harm and are just passing through on a mission for the absent Queen ZYBILNA. And warn them to watch out because we saw an aggressive EAGLE nearby."
Val then gets a spell ready, whispering over the golden acorn in her hand and waiting to release the spell until she hears Aoife talk to the geese again.
When she casts the spell, an eagle with feathers the color of a sunset suddenly appears just outside the balloon's basket. It's a little larger than Val but much smaller than the geese. As it flies away, Val says in Druidic, "Lead the geese away!"
Movement: Crouching down out of sight. Action: Cast spell (LVL 2 slot) Summon Beast A bestial spirit (Air) manifests just on the other side of the balloon from the geese. Key Stats: AC 13, HP 20, Melee Attack: (Maul) +7 to hit, dmg 1d8+4+2, Flying speed 60 ft., Flyby feature
The bestial spirit (eagle) swoops around the basket and then flies right toward the geese. With a piercing cry, it dives between the geese's heads, claws out as though it meant to attack but just missed. It flies between the geese, diving past and a little below them. It continues flying past the geese and away from the balloon, opposite the direction the balloon is going as it starts to veer back around like it's going to circle around and attack the geese again.
This maneuver relies on the flyby feature to avoid opportunity attacks from the geese: "The beast doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy’s reach."
(OOC: In case I'm not explaining it well, I threw together this map of how I imagine it. The red arrows indicate the balloon's direction and the future path of the eagle as it starts to turn.)
Aoife keeps concentration on her Speak to Animals spell, and after listening to Val, calls out again in Goose Language "We are on a mission from Queen Zybilna. Go around us - there is a giant Eagle nearby that will attack you if you come too close."
Based on Val's image everyone within 30 ft of Goose 2 needs to roll Con Save DC 12
On fail take 23 thunder damage and deafened condition
On success take half damage.
If you mean 30 ft. from the "center" of the goose, that's Aoife, Ilifir, and Valrieth. If you mean 30 ft. from the "front" of the goose, then that also includes Finley. In either case, the eagle and Clapperclaw were outside the range.

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

Valrieth fails her save, but she was anticipating the thundering honk. When she sees the goose honk, she casts Absorb Elements.
Reaction: Cast spell (LVL 1 slot) Absorb Elements as a reaction to taking acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage Val has resistance to thunder damage type until the start of her next turn. If Val hits with a melee attack on her next turn, it does an extra 1d6 thunder damage.
Her ears ringing, Valrieth moves across to the far side of the basket away from the giant geese. As long as the geese are now headed away from the balloon, chasing the bestial spirit eagle, she hopes that they and their basket are in the clear for now. Val peers over the side of the basket and even looks down below them to make sure that there are no other giant birds in the sky nearby.
The bestial spirit eagle will continue leading the giant geese away for a while, keeping far enough away that they don't catch it but close enough that they don't give up immediately.
