(OOC: I forgot to ask at the start of this encounter. How long was it between when the balloon took off and when we saw the giant geese? Did Valrieth have time to take a short rest? I'm trying to determine whether she has recovered her uses of Wild Shape since the ride on Elidon or not.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Round 4: Valrieth
Seeing that there are no other geese nearby, Valrieth figures that their best bet now is to hurt it enough that it decides to leave them alone. She moves to the center of the basket and stands up to her full (34 inches!) height. The giant goose still makes an easy target, taking up most of their view from the balloon. She stares out the giant goose, shield in one hand start map in the other. Annoyed, Val says through gritted teeth, "Why won't you leave us alone?!"
As she speaks, Val's voice shifts from her normal, squeaky pitch to a strangely hollow and icy tone as bright motes begin to shine like stars at her joints. Her skin appears dark by comparison. She points at the goose and a radiant arrow streaks from her hand. Then she casts a spell, sending an even more brilliant bolt at the giant bird.
Movement: Move to the center of the basket. Bonus Action: Use a Wild Shape to assume the Archer Starry Form and attack. Archer Starry Form (range: 60), 27, Damage: 17 (radiant) Action: Cast spell (LVL 1 slot) Guiding Bolt, 15, Damage: 13 (radiant) If the bolt hits, the next attack roll made against this target before the end of your next turn has advantage. Free Action: Talking. Object interaction: taking out her star map.
Action: Cast spell (LVL 1 slot) Guiding Bolt, 15, Damage: 13 (radiant) If the bolt hits, the next attack roll made against this target before the end of your next turn has advantage.
(OOC: If that spell hits, I'm not sure whether it would be advantage to the first attack roll of the next person to post an attack or advantage to Ilifir, who comes after her in initiative order.)
Str save 7, he falls prone, but does not fall out of the air as he is floating
Ilifir falls when struck, until he hits a patch of air around his feet, hitting it hard before dragging himself back upright, grabbing at a nonexistant wall to steady himself, the name of ice on his lips and his bell ringing in his hand "leave" he urges the goose irritably "there is no reason we have to kill you" he steps forwards into the creatures face, spike revealing bi.self on ilifirs back, black eyes staring as he hisses
Movement: stand from prone
Action: cast armor of agathys
Spike uses scare on the goose: DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if the quasit is within line of sight, ending the effect on itself on a success.

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

which ilifir applies to finley, a pair of illusory rough hewn stone antlers appearing over the dwarf's head
Seeing its mighty honk is not quite ready you Giant Goose flies towards the other geese with a most spiteful look in its eyes.
Everyone gets the feeling that is not the last you will see of that giant goose.
"Oh, no!", Valrieth says. "Ganders can be so territorial! Why won't he just leave us alone? I really don't want to have to kill a whole flock of giant geese." Unfortunately, Val anticipated problems just getting to the balloon in Thither, and she prepared spells that day for solving problems in the forest. Since Animal Friendship didn't work on the geese, she doesn't have a lot of good spells that could drive off a flock of geese up here in the sky. She asks Clapperclaw, "I don't suppose you can make the balloon go faster? Or take it higher or make it land on the ground all of a sudden?"
Assuming that Clapperclaw cannot keep the balloon away from the geese, Val frantically looks in her pouches. Seeing that Ilifir can fly and hover above her somehow even without the candy that turned him into a fairy, Val asks, "Ilifir, do you think that you could get close enough to the geese to tie something to one of them?"
As Val asks that cryptic question, she takes the black, desiccated body of a lizard out of her pouch. It's the object that they she and Finley found in Downfall days ago. She explains, "We found thing thing back in Hither. It will radiate Darkness for several minutes once it gets wet. So, if we could tie it or attach it to that lead goose and then get it wet, the goose would be surrounded by darkness. And the darkness should move with the goose as long as the lizard is attached to him. I think that that would cause chaos and confusion among the flock, and while that's going on, we could get away."
Val looks to the others to see whether anyone else has a better idea.
"Get close enough, yes, actually tying it on is another story, but i could try i suppose" ilifir offers "or maybe spike could do it, i dont have any better ideas, beyond trying to kill them, which frankly i doubt we can do in time."

"Ah cannae fly sadly or ah'd push us along.. dunnae 'ave any magic left either except for very basic spells." (OOC: that's surprising. Did you forget to click the Long Rest we took on his character sheet?
IIRC, Val's attempt at Animal Friendship was the first spell slot that any of us used since then. We took a Long Rest after we defeated the hag. Today, all the party did was ride Elidon to Nib's Cave and then board the balloon. The giant geese are our first combat encounter of the day.)
(OOC: Looks like I missed it as I checked it when I was busy, but I fixed it. Thanks, but he still doesn't have a lot of spells for this situation anyway XD)

Did Valrieth see the ground below when she was looking for more giant geese? Are we traveling over the barren peaks, or are we still over forests and grasslands? If she's going to use Plant Growth, she needs existing vegetation to work with.
Val asks Clapperclaw, "If you let out some of the gas, does that mean that it'll be harder to take off again or fly the balloon back to Hither?"
"Get close enough, yes, actually tying it on is another story, but i could try i suppose" ilifir offers "or maybe spike could do it, i dont have any better ideas, beyond trying to kill them, which frankly i doubt we can do in time."
Val nods. If they fail to attach the desiccated reptile to the goose, it might make them even angrier. She holds holds it out to Ilifir and says, "I think that desiccated reptile of darkness is our best option to drive off the geese quickly, but you and Spike would have the hardest and most dangerous part of that plan. If you don't feel comfortable, then we'll just have to land and try to fight them off from the ground. Landing is probably the safer option, but I worry that we'll end up having to walk the rest of the way back to Downfall." She gives Finley a look that shows that she thinks that they'll definitely miss his bargain's deadline if they have to walk.
Clapperclaw nods and says, "With less gas I won't be able to reach as high as we are now, but I don't think will cause a delay unless these giant geese pop the balloon."
Below are just leaving the barren peaks and do see the swamplands below with plenty of vegetation.

Yes, you had time for a short rest. You met the giant geese 5 hours after dust off.
