Gyg rolls over to the shiny blue pearl and pics it up with his improved mage hand, glancing around to see if anybody else noticed it. Holding the beautiful pearl up to his eye, the dragon gives it the once over (Arcana check: 26). After investigating the object, Gyg falls in line with the rest of the group and listens as Jashin discusses the map and the Warden.
"Meeting this Warden may prove unavoidable on our journey," Gyg says. "Perhaps we could formulate a plan in case we do encounter him."
You see what seems to be a blue fog cloud inside the pearl, and a slight pure energy can be felt from it as you hold it in your hand
"Exactly," Brecon responds to Fluffy. "Hard to make a plan to fight someone we know nothing about! If we do encounter this Warden we can only try to take them out however we can, and in the meantime try to find out more about them."
He glances around the village "I wonder what they were looking for here? If you're right about that Jashin. I'll go ask."
He will fly away to the nearest villager to ask "Ahoy! We think those hobgoblins might have been looking for something here. Is there anything special about this place, other than your own fine selves living here?"
The Wood Elves respond, "No, at least nothing that we know about."
Mithrellan will try and remember anything about the history of the village,
You remember that it was this general region of the Feywild that adamantium was mined to make elvish weapons, and was a major advantage for the Feywild during the war, and that it was often said that the God of Light, Lathander, had actually blessed a part of this region and made it sacred ground, but where that spot is is very hard to recall
While the group is discussing next steps, you see a dark figure running / flying over the village, coming from the direction of the exploded / now-burning building. He's dressed in dark greens, browns, and blacks, and his boots appear to have wings on them that flap as he runs through the air. He carries a long spear in one hand and lands about 60 feet away from the group, crouching into a low stance, spear at the ready. Even at this distance, what you can see of his face looks rough and distinctly green. He calls out in Common, "Who are you, and what do you do in this village!"
The man's red-orange eyes scan the group, and finally seeing Jashin among the party, he immediately stands. He plants the butt of his spear in the dirt, pulls the mask off of his face with the other hand, and bows fully. "Grand Master Jashin, it is good to see you!" Jashin recognizes his student, Ixsas, immediately. How could you not? Even though it has been many months since you last saw Ixsas, he's hard to mistake once his mask is down. His yuan-ti heritage is clearly visible in his bright orange-red eyes, the bright green scales on his face and head, and his flattened nose. Ixsas stands and moves (quickly) to the group, barely glancing at anyone other than Jashin. "I received your message and only just arrived today. You were not at home, but then I saw the smoke in the sky and came as quickly as I could. And then there was a loud explosion? What's going on? Has the war you feared finally come to the Feywild?"
Jashin gives a small smile to the Yuan-Ti, and replies, "My My, Ixsas. You have certainly grown from the last time I've seen you. Not 10 minutes ago we were in a fiece yet one-sided battle with what seemed to be a small party of hobgoblins. However, according to a document that we found on one of them, their true destination was 10 miles from here. Why they stopped to pillage a village is beyond me. We think that there is something here that they wanted. And despite the fact that so many have ignored my warnings, yes, it seems that the early stages of a war have started."
Noxus Regards the Stranger with. . . Well, he doesn't know what. He stands up and bows. "I am Noxus, The Assassin. As you can see, I am a tiefling."
"Well met, Noxsuss." The monk gives you a short bow. You notice that he speaks with a slight lisp. It's a little hard to read his age with his scaly skin, but you'd guess something between 20 and 40 years old.
"I am Ixsas. I am a yuan-ti, but I guess my heritage is sa little more clear on my face sthan with many of my kind. I have been training with Jashin now for over 10 years, off-and-on, though I follow a different Way. We have been exspecting that war would come to the Feywild eventually. I returned as quickly as I could, Master Jashin, and I see that you have already gathered some allies."
He looks around at the others. "Are you all here to help Master Jashin against the goblin army?"
Jashin gives a small smile to the Yuan-Ti, and replies, "My My, Ixsas. You have certainly grown from the last time I've seen you. "Yes, I see their bodies now -- may the Raven Queen take their souls! I was initially distracted here by the explosion. The goblins must have found great magic to completely demolish a building like that!"
"What is our priority now? Should we try to intercept them at this other location from the document you found? Can we leave our friends here undefended: are you sure that you've chased all of the goblins out of the village? Or should we search the village for other enemies? Maybe we will discover what the goblins were looking for here?"

"Or do we split up and try to do both?"
"You Pose to many questions, Yuan-ti. In my 5 years of being an assassin, I've found that the best solution is to explore one problem at a time." Noxus Grins. He then approaches Ixsas. "First thing first, we should intercept them, to prevent them from finding their true goal."

Jashin puts his hand to his chin in thought, and said, "Well, the goblins actually didn't use magic to destroy the building that you saw. Rather, it was on fire and there happened to be explosives inside. And Noxus does have a point. We should intercept these people that the goblins were to meet with. However, do not worry about the safety of these people. One of my diciples is nearby and I will instruct them to watch over the village in my absent." Suddenly, the flapping of wings can be heard, and a Succubus lands down, out of breath. The succubus then says between breath, "My goodness, you lot are fast." Jashin nodded towards the succubus, and said, "Haori, I am going to be gone for a bit. Watch over this village while I am gone."

Gyg, watching the conversation unfold between the party and this new entry, notes that he needs to begin asking more questions. The little faerie dragon flutters through the air toward Jashin, his mage hand rolling the blue pearl in his fingers--almost flaunting it to the group--as he alights on the ground next to the monk. He notes Ixsas's slithery nature, and smiles, happy to add another lizardy one to the group. He closes his eyes and tilts his head slightly, a silent greeting to the Yuant-Ti.
"So, in cutting off the enemy's ability to contact . . . well its contacts, we will ultimately weaken any chance of a stronger, more united force." Gyg asks, his sing-song voice echoing as he stares down at himself in a little puddle. He seems to have entranced himself by turning he puddle all manner of colors, ultimately deciding on bright pink. "Is that correct?"

Honorary Leader in the Pixie Peewee Powderpuff Pals!
Mithrellan suddenly jerks his head up as a memory comes to him. "Adamantium. This area was known for Adamantium. If they could get their hands on ore, they would be able to forge deadly weapons. That would surely be worth a strong raiding party. There should be a shrine or marker or something nearby."
He looks at the townsfolk, "Is there any holy place nearby?"

"Yes, Master Jashin! I am fresh and ready to leave at once to intercept the goblins, but some of your party are hurt. Do we need to rest here first?"
(OOC: Short rest and heal before we take a 10-mile hike? Or travel first and then see whether the injured party members can rest while the others scout the new area?
Separate question - Are explosives common in this world? That is, do gunpowder and canons exist? Are firecrackers available at a common market? Or are they rare items produced by a few alchemists?)
"Explosives! Do you think that the goblins brought them to blow up the building? Or did they just happen to be in the building that caught fire? We should probably ask the elves."
Gyg, watching the conversation unfold between the party and this new entry, notes that he needs to begin asking more questions. "Hello, master dragon. What have you got there?" He tries to look more closely at the blue pearl. "Is that a gem stone? Or some sort of magic item?"
(OOC: Regarding Mithrellan's question, Ixsas used to live nearby while training with Jashin, so he might know. I'm not sure which check makes more sense: History19 or Religion10)

Ixsas turns to Mithrellan and, in fluent Elvish, gives him a traditional greeting used among the wood elves. If Mithrellan wasn't nearby when Ixsas first arrived, he introduces himself to Mithrellan and waits to learn Mithrellan's name.
(OOC: Sonic111, was that skill check above sufficient? Does Ixsas remember any nearby holy places? What Ixsas says depends on that answer.)
Once Mithrellan introduces himself, Ixsas continues speaking to Mithrellan in Elvish:
(DM said yes.) "Yes, there is a holy place near here. If Master Jashin thinks that we have time, I can take you to it."
(DM said no.) "I only used to come to this village for supplies, and I do not remember any shrines nearby. But I know some of the elves of this village. Master Jashin, if there's time, I can take Mithrellan to find a villager who might know."
(OOC: Related to Noxus's comment about asking too many questions.)
It's clear to everyone that Ixsas just assumes that Jashin is the group's leader. He seems very eager to jump in an help. His manner is polite but a bit stiff. It reminds you of an apprentice who is being observed by his master, like he's constantly aware that he's being graded on his performance.
His main concerns as the discussion proceeds are
Meeting everyone in the party and at least learning their names.
Is the party ready to travel, or do they need to take a Short Rest first?
By not resting, we get to the destination faster, but we don't know what we'll find when we get there.
That may mean that the injured party members won't get to rest before the next fight with the goblin army.
Whether and how long to investigate in this village before going to the "X" on the map.
Maybe only some party members need a rest, and others can spend the hour investigating.
If we're investigating, Ixsas will help. He often scouts for his parties. (Proficiency in both Investigation and Perception.)
He will use any contacts he has in the village to ask the elves what happened.
Where did the hobgoblins come from?
Did they seem to be after anything?
Did the hobgoblins bring the explosives? If so, we have to assume that that's one of the weapons they'll be employing.
Did the goblins blow up the building on purpose? If not, how did the building catch fire in the first place?
Is there an Adamantium deposit nearby?
Find a village leader or elder who may have a longer memory of such things.
If they don't know of an Adamantium deposit, investigate the nearby shrines or holy places, as Mithrellan suggested.
Noxus notices Ixsus's expression, and has the feeling of bond via Experience. He approaches him. "Ix, all the party members are fine. save for my arm," Noxus shows his self bandaged arm. "But I've had worse, and it'l take alot more than hob gobs to keep us down."
