Since Gyfra works in a tavern, do you want to say that she and Kit know each other? We could either go with her working for Pick in the Boar & Lyre or that Kit has frequented Gyfra's tavern while making her rounds.
Sweet! Salty buys a roast pig, gets her jug filled with beer. Looks around to see if anyone’s gonna call her names or comment on her large appetite. JK I’ll save it for the actual thread.
Totally made up place that I use as a recurring setting when I DM. So it could absolutely be anywhere or anything you want it to be. My only fixed facts are that it's owned by Pick, a retired adventurer that bought it with the earnings from his "big score", that it caters to adventurers, and that Pick has a soft spot for street urchins. Even those are at your discretion if you choose to use it here.

Oh, I like that. Velia definitely has a street urchin kinda background and may know have stopped by here a number of times - especially knowing that Pick has a soft spot for people like her.

In that case I will use the Boar & Lyre tavern. In my version of the Realms it will be in the city of Silvery Moon. And the year will be about 5 years earlier than the current year (not that I know what that is off the top of my head) as I want a little leeway to maneuver.
Once everyone has joined the campaign thread I will get the opening post ready on the main thread. When it is ready you will see it posted and as i said there will be a link in the bottom left corner of the campaign thread for easy access.
To anyone who didn't get chosen, if someone's character dies or the player has to abandon due to rl situations I will contact you at random to fill those positionsif you still want to play later on.
I've heard of campaigns like this, but never played in one before. Absolutely love the idea of real world consequences for in game death, assuming a gritty campaign setting. Forces the players not to act too cavalierly with their characters lives.
Of course, Kit is pretty much doomed😂
I look forward to playing with all of you...briefly.
Its likely Ive been working at the tavern for a while. Maybe I've seen you, maybe youre a fresh face. Feel free to write me into your recent backstory if you'd like. Just uh, let me know.

Kit's been living in tavern for several months/ the better part of a year. I'll give you some information and you can let me know how you think they get on with each other.
Kit is a Half-Elven female in early adulthood, who stands 5'4"/162 cm with a slight build. She has a somewhat androgynous beauty which is exaggerated by her short, choppy hair and penchant for wearing men's clothes. She wears the kind of high quality but practical clothing that one would expect to see a nobleman wear while riding or hunting. Her rapier is always on her belt.
Kit is brash, overconfident, bordering on arrogant. It's clear that she had little contact with other races before arriving at the Boar & Lyre. Interacting with the patrons of the Boar has helped to temper down most of her biases.
When she's in the Boar, Kit likes to listen to the tales of the adventurers passing through. When there are no stories to hear, she practices sleight of hand tricks with a coin or plays a tune on her thelarr. Occasionally she'll pick pockets, just for practice of course, always returning what she's taken with the excuse "I think you dropped this."
Kit makes her living as a street performer, sometimes with the thelarr but more often performing magic shows that combine sleight of hand and real magic (Prestidigitation) to dazzle and amaze. So far, the earnings from her busking and a small stash of coins she brought with her has been enough to keep a roof over her head and food in her belly.
My sincerest apologies all! It seems that a previous commitment has come back up that will preclude me from joining the campaign. Sorry to flake out on you all like this but good news for someone else, that random drawing to fill an opening is going to happen sooner rather than later! Just glad that if I have to bow out early it's before we actually got started.
Best wishes for the campaign! At least glad I was able to contribute something in the form of the Boar & Lyre! Treat her well and make her your own!⚔️🛡️📜
Gafyra wiped her hands on her apron and picked up a mug and a cloth, absentmindedly cleaning it as she watched the steady stream of people coming and going. It looked like it would be another busy night.
She let out a puff of air in a vain attempt to push a rogue strand of her hair that had escaped her tie and was now bobbing maddeningly in front of her eyes. With a nod of her head she acknowledged one of the regulars and, setting the mug and cloth down, made her way to their table, eager to make some coin.
Hanzo opens the door and enters the tavern, pausing for a moment to allow his eyes to adjust to the light inside. He scans the room to see who the patrons are, and out of habit. He moves towards the bar. Hanzo wears a different style of scale armor, not like the ones from the region. Red and black lacquer, though he is not wearing his helmet at the moment. An unstrung bow across his back, along with a great sword. A smaller sword struck through the sash at his waist.
Velia entered the tavern a few moments later, a tall beautiful and shapely half-elf with long white hair. She wore a long flowing black dress that clearly showed off her legs. She quickly scans the room for any of the patrons that she might know. She carried a simple quarterstaff and used it almost as a walking stick. She gives a smile and a wave to Gafyra and then heads over to join Hanzo "What are we drinking tonight?" she asks.

Gafyra moved from the table where she had been to approach the foreign man and the half elf just joining him, all the while writing on a thick pad of paper with some strange cryptic writing.
"Back again I see. Can I interest you in a meal and some mead while you wait for your next great adventure?"
Gafyra took a moment while the two were figuring how their answers to scan the tavern and content that things were running smoothly turned her attention back to the strange man, letting her eyes soak in the details of his foreign armor.

A dwarfen regular sits at the bar. He looks like he might be interested in adventure should the opportunity arise.

Is the Boar & Lyre a tavern that already exists somewhere else, or can I place it anywhere in the Forgotten Realms?
If any of you want to know Velia in the past or want a backstory tie-in, let me know.

It's likely Gnowee knows any of the other more 'rural' folk, perhaps met on the road before getting to said tavern.
She'll take a wee while to warm up but isn't actively unfriendly.

Saltstryder looks for a good solid bench to sit upon, if none are present rather then test the chairs or stools she will stand near the bar/counter.
