“If the statue doesn’t move, let’s get further way and try sniping at the orb.” Emrys said as Wade moved the Mage Hand. If that didn’t work either, then they could try firing at both statue and orb at the same time. How funny would it be if neither of the objects were actually ma…“Maira!” He called turning his head in her direction. “Do you know magic for appraisal? The kind of spell that allows you to know what something do or to feel if it has magic.”
The Warlock didn’t know how trained casters called that kind of enchantment. Hells, he had heard of it from his time as a merchant. Not that he dealt with merchandise valuable enough to demand such arcana, but histories about those who did weren’t exactly rare on a mercantile guild. All of them agreed in one thing, that more versatile practitioners of the Art had little trouble finding the exact characteristics of any given item. Another thing I should have thought about earlier, Goldenleaf admitted to himself half bitterly. Now that they investigation stood at the point of touching the statue it was likely they wouldn’t need the Wizard to study the thing. I just hope it doesn’t blow on our faces. A very literal risk, he assumed.
Notes: Emrys is paying attention on the Mage Hand experiment. Ready to act should the statue move.
Maira pauses and wordlessly nods at Emrys, pausing in her study of the room's objects. Her hands move in graceful arcs and fluid gestures as she whispers the words to a spell, her gaze far away and a soft smile on her face. As she murmurs the last words she shuts her eyes hard, and then snaps them open again, her pupils constricting to a pinprick as she squints at the room in concentration...
She casts Detect Magic as a Ritual, since she apparently has the time to do that
Maira makes her way stealthily into the room... and it turns out that it was a good idea to be cautious!

Her lips compressed into a straight line, Sae draws her trusty rapier in one hand and the newly acquired dagger in the other ... fang, rather, since the thing literally was simply the fang of a dragon with some leather wrapped around the root to turn it into a simple hilt. She'd nicked her finger on the edge the first time she'd picked it up, and ever since then a strange acrid pungency seemed to hang in her nostrils just on the edge between imagining and scenting whenever she had it out. Now as she pulls it from its simple sheath for the first time, she notes a glistening black sheen with a much more pungent smell than the coating on Black Bart's blade. She smiles. "Stone corrodes just fine, doesn't it?," she murmurs as she launches herself at the statue in Sayyida's wake, using the distraction the other woman's powerful blows provide to slip in with her own more supple weapons.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
As Maira started to move and chant the statue responded to the touch of the Mage Hand and came to life. At least the sphere didn’t explode, Emrys thought raising his arcane focus. Yet. His eyes became dark void and whispers in an incomprehensible tongue filled the air. It was a familiar view at that point, at least to his companions. He was casting Eldritch Blast. The only difference was that instead of retreating, creating distance and attacking from afar, the Warlock advanced. Getting close.
He targeted the statue alone, fearing that an attack on the sphere could generate an area effect capable of reaching his companions and imbuing all of the rudimentary spell with his will to pull the enemy away. As the crackling beams of energy crossed the air, the halfling once again called forth a spectral tentacle. It whipped merciless against the stone guardian. The eyes of the halfling didn’t seek damage but rather something more obvious – if the thing was pushed by his strikes. Only one piece missing, he said with the voice of his mind. I should’ve called it before the fight. Alas it was too late for regret. It was time to fight and taking into consideration their numerical advantage, it shouldn’t be too hard of a victory.
Notes: Emrys spends his action to cast Eldritch Blast, targeting the statue with both beams (25 to hit - 5 force damage, 28 [natural 20] to hit - 13 force damage). Both beams with Repelling Blast (enemy is pushed 10ft away on hit, if it can be moved). He then spends his bonus action summoning and attacking the statue with his Tentacle of the Deeps [17 to hit - 12 cold damage] and his full movement (25ft) to approach the enemy.
Maira quickly glances around the room and makes sure her new friends are in good physical shape for the moment. She darts behind the nearest chest as silently as she can to have more cover, then peaks out and starts frantically searching through her component pouch. She pulls out a bit of sheep's wool and starts whispering the words to a spell. If she is successful, an image appears in the middle of the room right in front of the statue. It is a tall and powerfully built male sea-elf with the same coloring as her. He is wearing flowing robes, gold ornaments on his wrists, a gold amulet around his neck, and a gold circlet on his head. In his hand is an ornate staff, which he raises, and wordlessly points at the statue. It appears that water rises from the ground at his feet and begins to swirl around his body, rising higher and swirling faster every moment, almost obscuring him as it flows.
If anyone were to look at Maira while this was happening, you would see an expression of profound, all-encompassing pain flash across her face, and for a moment it looks like her eyes are wet with tears. She blinks, though, and the tears are gone, as is the pained expression--so those watching might doubt they had seen it at all. Instead, her expression becomes much more focused and searching as she stares hard at the statue and the orb, cocking her head like a pet dog, and drumming her fingers on the wood of the chest in thought.
She casts Minor Illusion and does an Arcana check as she studies the orb and wracks her brain for anything she can remember or deduce about it, and the strange symbol she spotted on it's surface.
Arcana check: 21 (Not a natural 20)
