Luthok follows Dyokens heroic and reassuring words with, "Might keep the child though." He lifts the mask just enough for the woman to get a glimpse of his face. He rides off in front of the others and stops outside the gates. "Lady seemed really sad though, might just do a good deed. Once in a decade ain't that bad." , he mumbles to himself. As he passes the city gates he makes sure to pull his hood up and face away from the townsguard at their posts.

Merrick jumps on his trusty springjack goat, Applejack. "Let's go! Men in green cloaks? I'm sure only a few would be needed to grab a young girl. Why so many? A dozen? That's a lot. "I wonder if it was a baker's dozen. Did you know bakers have their own dozens? Maybe it was an apothecary's dozen."
As you travel south, the open grasslands begins to thicken somewhat as you follow the tracks. The grass goes from beautiful yellows and lime green grass to a darker colour as you enter the wooded area. This area is not located on any map you've ever read.
Dyoken and Muireach take lead and easily trace the hoofbeats. You all notice some oddities along the way, primarily blackened land smudging the landscape along the path. It looks to you like the land has been burnt by something, but you can't be sure what.
Finally, a few more beats into this unknown forest, you find something up ahead that catches your eye. The shadows of the trees make it hard to determine what it is at a cursory glance, but you see two creatures, one large and one small, laying on the ground motionless. The trail leads directly in that direction. This is about 60 ft ahead of you. The path to these creatures is clear.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Merrick hops down from Applejack. "How about I'll go ahead and hang out in the trees, and one of you big fellows can come from the front. Probably won't matter, but it might come in handy to have a surprise in case a dozen greencloaks surround us!" says Merrick cheerfully.
The halfling walks into the trees, and soon is lost from sight. Applejack, for his part, walks to the edge of the road and starts chewing at various weeds there. He seems placid and content enough to not start bleating loudly.
OOC: Merrick moves as close as possible to the creatures, staying in the trees for stealth.
Merrick is slick as shadows as he slinks closer to the creatures. What he sees there would be horrifying for the average man. He finds an older human man, pale skinned, and his shirt and trousers are stained with the color of blood. An arrow sticks out from his collar, but any further damage or details has to be assessed closer or with a perception roll. The larger creature is horse that has been gored from the throat.

As soon as the party enters the woods Luthok takes his mask off, scrapes a finger across the sticky insides and flings the goo over to the side of the road before putting the mask into one of his saddlebags. "Bah, let me have a look at him." Luthok jumps off of Toadstool, falling to his knees as he hits the ground. Seems like this is standard procedure for the old dwarf, although it looks painful. He hesitates, "Would someone do an old piece of shit a favor and check for an ambush first?"
Medicine roll (To determine time of death or any oddities other than the arrow): 24 Separate roll for the horse (Looking for similar things): 19
Seeing that the man is barely alive, Muireach bend down, pick up one of the cure wound potions next to him, and will pour it into the man’s mouth. “Drink. You need this if you’re going to live. Are you the one known as Yennan?”
When Luthok sees Muireach pouring the potion into the strangers mouth he snorts and puts away the healers kit he was about to take out of his bag. "Amateurs.." he mumbles as he steps away a few feet to give the man some space.

The healing salve is enough to stabilise the man, however he still appears weak. He gives several long blinks as he attempts to look at all of you in the face. He speaks as he does this, "Yennan's my name, but I've got no time to waste. My daughter's been kidnapped!"
Yennan attempts standing, but is unable to move much. Luthok, with your crit you understand that this man may never walk again even if you drown him in those healing salves. He will require much more powerful healing magic or to go through mundane medical treatment.
"Stars damn me," Yennan curses under his tongue.
