Name: Eero Class and Subclass: Fighter - Rune Knight Background: Mercinary Vet. Personality: Overall, Eero is a pragmatic and courageous adventurer with a strong sense of loyalty and a commitment to the greater good. His experiences and age have shaped him into a reliable and experienced member of any adventuring party. Backstory: What object do they think is inside the human ruin?: Eero believes that inside the human ruin in Far North Perkwunos, there may be a relic or artifact of great historical significance. Given his curiosity and pragmatic nature, he doesn't hold extravagant fantasies of vast wealth or immeasurable power. Instead, he is more interested in uncovering knowledge and uncovering the truth about the vanished human civilization. Specifically, Eero thinks that there might be an ancient tome, a collection of scrolls, or a series of inscriptions that could shed light on the history, culture, and disappearance of the humans in Lancea. He envisions these documents as a key to unraveling the mysteries of the past and potentially providing valuable insights into the world's history and the reasons behind the disappearance of humans. Eero's belief in the importance of this historical knowledge drives him to explore the ruins with the hope of discovering these ancient writings and bringing their secrets to light. Appearance: Eero is an imposing figure, standing well over six feet tall with a powerfully built physique. His weathered skin bears the marks of numerous battles and the harsh conditions of the frozen frontier. One of his most distinctive features is a deep scar that runs down the side of his face, continuing on his chest, near his throat, and under his armor, a testament to the dangers he's faced. Eero is always prepared for combat, wearing chain mail armor and carrying an array of weapons on his person. He often uses a glaive as a walking staff, a versatile weapon that serves him both in combat and as a tool for traversing the treacherous terrain of Far North Perkwunos. His eyes, a calm and collected shade of gray, reflect the wisdom and experience that come with his age. His black hair is liberally sprinkled with gray, a reminder of the passage of time and the countless adventures he's embarked on. Backstory: Eero's journey as an adventurer began on the day he joined the ranks of mercenaries in Lancea. Born in a remote village on the fringes of civilization, he grew up in a harsh environment where survival often depended on one's ability to fend off the dangers of the wilderness. From a young age, he exhibited a talent for combat and a natural affinity for the martial arts. As he came of age, Eero decided to leave his village behind and seek his fortune as a hired sword. He traveled across Lancea, taking on various contracts that ranged from protecting caravans to clearing out monster-infested dungeons. Along the way, he honed his combat skills and earned a reputation as a reliable and capable warrior. His life took a turn when rumors began circulating about the discovery of human ruins in the remote and frozen reaches of Far North Perkwunos. The legend of the precursor race who once ruled the planet had always been dismissed as a myth, but the recent findings hinted at the possibility of its truth. However, the discovery came at a great cost. A brave exploration team had ventured into the treacherous wilderness to uncover the ruins, but tragedy struck, and they met their untimely demise. The news of the team's fate sent shockwaves across Lancea, drawing the attention of adventurers and historians alike. The precise location of the ruins remained a well-guarded secret, known only to those who had perished in the ill-fated expedition. Eero, driven by his insatiable curiosity and a desire to uncover the truth about the vanished human civilization, decided to embark on a journey of his own. He was not part of the ill-fated exploration team but had heard of their fate through the whispers of fellow adventurers. Determined to make history and learn about the ancient humans, he set out for Far North Perkwunos. Character Link:

Personality: Inquisitive and bold. Makes decisions other might call foolish only to be saved by miraculous good luck every time, and thus never learns his lesson.
Backstory: He was moments away from saving his parents from getting murdered when he was young. If he had only been a little faster, just a few seconds, his whole life would have been happy.
But he wasn't. He didn't get to the guards fast enough. They didn't get back to his home fast enough.
It just was fast enough.
And he became obsessed with the nature of time, fate, luck. And how these forces moved the world in secret, behind the scenes. He has dedicated his life to the study of these forces.
And he believes that something happened to the human progenitors that set the world on its current trajector many cycles ago. Once he stumbled upon this hypothesis it started to consume him. What object do they think is inside the human ruin?: The answer to his life's yearning. An answer to a question he cannot yet ask. He knows he's going to find the very reason the world is the way it is.
This honestly sounds really cool! Lots of people seem to be applying, my goodness. Just putting in my little character idea to see if it would possibly fit into your world. Always wanted to play as a politician, hah. And DM, I have one question for you. What is your stance on other character creation websites other than DnD Beyond? I plan on using DiceCloud, as it is where I have all of my content on.
Personality: On the surface, Kalju is a nationalistic and libertarian individual, often expressed the desire to, as he says, "reclaim his dream". He's done plenty of good things in his long career as a politician, preaching to the public... all before shifting his attention to his trek to the human ruins, modifying himself in the process to see if he would be fit. If one were to spend some time speaking to him outside of a speech, they would learn that he is self-centered and arrogant, along with a rather fragile ego.
Backstory: Kaljuwas born on a rainy day in a far land. During his youth, he was adopted by a military commander, who named him and became his godfather after he killed the former's parents. He was subsequently raised as a child soldier. His experience in the slums of combat was miserable, though somehow he seemed to enjoy it and did well compared to his other men, or boys, for that matter. He was trained to use a sword, as it was described as a 'noble' weapon. After a few years of his service, he decided that he couldn't take it any more.
He and some of the other boys plotted an escape. On a dark night in the winter, they abandoned their platoons and ran. Deep through the woods of that winter's night, Kalju managed to escape mostly unharmed. He was more muscular than most of the other boys in his group, but the brambles and pricker bushes still tore up his legs a bit. He still had one last thing to do, however. Shatter the sword he trained with... and he did so. Leaving it as a pile of broken metal, he stuck to suing his fists to solve problems. After his escape, he never saw the boys in his group again, and found his new home. Lancea. Living on the streets for a few years, he managed to find another home with that on an innkeeper. Someone to get him back on his feet, so to say. From this point forwards, he's had a modestly comfortable life, studying politics.
In the modern day, he's an adept public speaker, speaking at small events that he hosts in order to spread his message. His message of how one should "stick up for the goblins", or protect the weak. Doing mainly social gigs for a little while and failing to run for governor a few times, he's recently caught wind of these new ruins... and thought that this could be his chance. His chance to finally land his spot on the office and make it big. Finding these ruins and gifting it to the town would be a one-way ticket into office... he could truly win the hearts of the people he preached to so often. With a heavy sack of gold and a few months with a wizard, Kalju gained a few adjustments to make him more adept in the wilderness, an ample spark of magic just waiting to be let out.
What object do they think is inside the human ruin?: The answer for the problems in his town, be it wealth or some kind of powerful weapon, he's determined to find it.
