“Oh, I'm terribly sorry, sir! I didn't mean to scare you,” Teresa raises her hands to appease the startled noble man. The girl listens to the words of the half-elf, nodding. Then she says, “So you want to return to your home, Melvaunt, in three days, but everyone is busy, and no one can accompany you.” The girl claps her hands with a loud sound and smiles cheerfully. “Such a coincidence! I am Teresa Greenhill, a newly appointed servant of Lady Eldath. I am happy to take you to your home, sir. However, I have just been promoted from acolyte to cleric, and I am still inexperienced. So…”
@Heidi
The giant girl (she is 6.3 feet tall and about 313 pounds, including her luggage) bends her body, almost kneeling on the ground to meet the eyes of the Halfling woman. “It is more than welcome to have helping hands from more experienced adventurers. Did the payment this gentleman suggested sound sufficient for you, mighty warrior? Are you willing to accompany us?”
@Cyrano, indicating the giant and the halfling "Friends of yours? *If affirmative* Seems there is a chance to get out of this riotous town, not much call for entertainment with so much going on here lately." Fjörn gets up and makes his way over to the gentleman, the cleric, and the halfling. "Excuse me sir, ladies, I don't mean to intrude, however those gentlemen over there indicated you were in need of an entourage. Allow me to introduce myself, Fjörn Bhrüt at your service. If I may be so bold I would like to accompany you on your journey mayhaps I can secure us horses, a carriage perhaps?" Fjörn gives a slight bow, with a nod to the giantess and the halfling.
" Oh good finally some people who will listen. A carriage would be wonderful.", the man says. "Oh, where are my manner, My name is Nilavor."
The soldier next to him looks at you, " I see you are new to the town, the trip to Melvaunt city will take a full day. Here's a map", she says holding a rolled piece of paper in your general direction.
Heidi cannot help but stand a little taller, under such high praise, from the tall stranger. She almost cracks a smile. Almost.
”I’m your Huckleberry. Heidi Huckleberry, at your service. The compensation is agreeable, for a three day escort- I accept these terms. And yes- if we are to reach Melvaunt in three days, transport must be arranged… Wait! One full day, you say?! Over land, or by boat? Army cartographers would probably have us wading straight on through the Twilight Marsh…”
The halfling accepts the proffered map and unfurls it, for all the entourage to see.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
@Bhrüt
“Oh, greetings, Fjörn Bhrüt! And thank you. I was wondering how to find more companions,” Teresa clasps her hands together gleefully. “May I ask your profession so that I can support you? I see you are carrying a lute. Are you a musician?”
@Nilavor and Heidi
The cleric girl investigates the map that the noble provides them. “Hmm… To be honest, I'm a total stranger here. I came to Phlan just to attend a ceremony to become a proper cleric. I didn't even know about the disturbance in this city. But my lady doesn't put her followers into a maelstrom without a reason. There could be a divine intention behind our meeting.” Teresa touches her forehead and lips, praying to her goddess. She widens her sleepy eyelids, revealing a pair of bright blue eyes and looks into Halfelf's eyes. “Master Nilavor, can you share the reason why you are hurrying home? And if you are expecting any obstructions on the road, please tell us now, for it will influence our path planning.”
Vadania tried to stealth his way across the tavern toward the largest figure in the tavern. { combat log: STEALTH: 8 } The tavern being so full of bodies, the elf was elbowed, nearly tripped and otherwise jostled hither and yon until Vada imagined he would be covered in bruises come the morrow.
With one last effort, he breasted the swell of bodies, tables, chairs and benches to reach the small gathering around the large being. "Lady Teresa, did you start the ordination celebration early?"
Cyrano slides down from his seat and follows Fjörn. He had just been thinking that it might be time to move on and this looked like as good as of an opportunity as any. Tugging at the bards pant leg, Cyrano says, "I have some contacts in the city that should be able to help out with that."
(Supply chain back ground)
To the group at large he nods his nods his head forward shyly, raises a hand and introduces himself. "Cyrano Rockhucker"
Teresa: "There is a ceremony must attend and as for obstruction on the road, I would expect as much there's always bandits lurking around this area. Almost lost all my belongings when I was coming here." What he said was t a lie but it wasn't the full truth.
Cyrano:The noble man looks at you, "Oh a Gnome. I have never seen one like you before, I must say to have connections in the city, are they high enough to grant me a carriage over those uncomfortable things that caravans have? Had to rid one before, dear me it really is uncomfortable to sit without any seat, just how do those people do it, sitting there all day long...", He goes off on a tangent about the comfort of the carts.
To the group in general — "Is your whole party here?"
Fjörn looks at Teresa and with only one hand both chords and plays a short musical whimsy, while the other hand fans and sweeps a bow to her, “As you say my Lady Teresa, with your support I’m sure to ascend to new heights. My Lord us five will see you to Melvaunt. Lest any protest, what say you new friends?”
"If Heidi can guide us, as I said, I believe I can procure us transportation. Although I may need some assistance in hooking up the team. I suppose that's my way of saying I'm in" Cyrano interjects as the noble prattles on. From a pouch at his side Cyrano produces 3 small pebbles that are as smooth as glass. Although small, in his tiny gnome hand they appear much larger. They produce a soft rhythmic click as he rolls them about in the palm of his hand.
Heidi considers. Slingstones?It will take more than pretty pebbles, to secure transportation- and traveling in comfort always comes at a premium… Sir. If I may ask, what is your budget, in regards to hiring a carriage or boat- and do you have a preference? Time is of the essence, with this civil unrest unfolding about us.”
I know Cyrano can arrange our boat or carriage, but if you happen to be with him... you strike me as being very persuasive. Let's just say I believe in your ability to get the most out of a deal, if it helps here please take this, I've been saving up some money.
“I see… I am sorry for your loss. But it was fortunate that the bandits didn't take your life or badly injure you as well,” Teresa notices a slight interval between the noble's words. He looks away for a moment, as if considering what to say. “Is there anything you could have overlooked, Master? Also, what do you think about taking the Moonsea route to your home?”
@Bhrüt
Teresa puts her hand over her chest and sighs. The bard's performance was short but really beautiful. It made small ripples on her heart like the spring breeze dancing on the water surface. “Marvellous! You're really skilled, Master Bhrüt. I thank Lady Eldath for making such a great artist accompany us.”
@Cyrano
“Good to meet you, Master Cyrano. Welcome to the team. By the way, what skills do you possess aside from your connection to the town? I assume that you are a member of the artificer guild of Phlan. Am I right?”
@Vadania
“Greetings, Master Vadania. Yes, because Phlan is in trouble, the high priestess decided to move my ceremony forward. I asked her if there was anything I could do at the temple. But she said since I'm an independent cleric now, I have to find my task on my own. And I did it,” Teresa explains to Vadania about the Half-Elf noble and the quest she has just accepted.
Cyrano is pondering where he might find them some transportation as his meditation stones continue to click in his tiny palm. He's pulled from his rumination by Teresa's question which strikes him as odd. So with a puzzled look he says "I'm not quite sure what you mean by that but I'm sure I'll find a way to be useful. And no, I'm not a member." He turns to Heidi and says "If I'm right budget won't matter as the transportation will be free but regardless the sea is not an option for me since I can not swim."
Fjorn: As you play the beautiful melody patrons of the bar, on passing by, toss you coins, complementing you. From this you earn 30 SP.
Heidi: "Preference... oh absolutely none, nobles are made to learn how to swim. but I would prefer comfort, I wouldn't like a wagon. As for budget, I say besides the 500 GP you people will be getting I think 50 GP will do.", Nilavor ponders with his hand on his hip and one of his feet tapping in contemplation.
Teressa: "Overlooked something, absolutely nonsense. I have wonderful memory and I'm pretty sure I would have mentioned if I overlooked something."
Vadania ponders all he hears. "I have some small skill with animals. Calming and hitching a team for a wagon or carriage should be easy enough."
The elf makes a face before he speaks further. "Travel by ship? I have never travelled on the great waters. A few times in small skiffs or rafts on rivers but never on the open waters. I fear I would be of little use on a ship."
His eyes gaze slowly around the room, noting bodies and faces -- who might be listening rather than eating, drinking or cussing out the locals who are invoking chaos in town. He is also noting which tables have left overs he might 'clean up' as his stomach grumbles loudly again.
(But you didn't answer how you're considering the sea route…) Teresa thinks. However, she doesn't say it aloud.

“Travelling by boat is faster and avoids bandits. Pirates are not usually seen along the pass we would take. But there are legends and rumours of monsters. Most famous is the mermaid who attracts sailors and pulls them into the sea. It was said that we must speak the truth or they will drown us.” The girl gives the noble Half-Elf a glance. “Depending on the season, the ocean might not be pleasant. Since Master Cyrano isn't able to swim, and master Vadania isn't familiar with the sea, maybe we should take the land route. There are robbers and highwaymen, but at least we know what kind of threats we would face. Master Nilavor, please tell us about the criminals who attacked you—their appearance, number, weapons, and the location they appeared.” She points to the map and says.
“Teresa I would travel the seas with you but I must confess I’ve never been out upon the deep, not sure how I would fare. Not to mention my glib plus a mermaids guile would certainly be the end of me!” At this juncture I will also scope about for an unsuspecting target and begin mimicking their actions *grossly over exaggerated* as part of a jest.
