His gnomish curiosity overwhelming his good sense sends Brix to the edge of the door way. He stops his approach at the door way and peeks into the room.
“There’s also an object inside, something like a sarcophagus, that hovers 5 feet above the floor, and the creature is behind that. The creature doesn’t move though, which is odd. Perhaps it needs help?” Myrla says and musters Inge, “You could probably open that other door, right?” Then she speaks to the others, “You’d prefer to try the other door first, or should we approach here? I’m at a loss as to what is best to do. I’d just go and look what’s up with that sarcophagus and the creature, since we’re here already.”
"I agree. The creature is possible a trap, only activating when we get close though so be careful." Milo will grip his swords tight, and wait for someone to go check it out, ready to run in swinging swords if needed.
Brix peeks into the room and sees what Myrla is describing. There is a sarcophagus of some sort hovering in the air. He cannot see any ropes holding it from above or any other structure that would allow it to do so. It must have been magic, just like the other odd things happening so far.
Inge and Wadi approach the sarcophagus slowly and they begin to see a silhouette curling around the sarcophagus. There is no telling how large the silhouette actually is because the other end of the room is covered in darkness. As they approach closer, a pair of eyes, frosty blue, filled with malice, and as large as Brix, glare at them from beyond the darkness. Rows of glinting white teeth, each as long and sharp as a shortsword, catch the light for a brief moment. Fear suddenly grips their hearts as a guttural growl echoes through the room, slightly shaking the floor and the wall.
This is a creature they have only heard in tales before. A dragon. And while the Dragonborn to the east are said to have some draconic ancestry, they are actually not. From the olden tales, dragons are a creature of malice and craving. A creature so filled with greed, wrath, gluttony, pride, and lust for power that their very sighting mark a long period of chaos.
While Inge is shaking in fear, Wadi is more concerned with the information Myrla gave before. This creature has a very draconic feature, but not the behaviour. From what he heard from old tales and myths, dragons are not still being. They are slothful sometimes, but not as static as this one. The eyes, the teeth, and the growl are all realistic enough to bring fear, but the longer Wadi looks at the dragon, the more he can see that the stomach, or where the stomach and underbelly of the dragon should be, is not moving and lies very flat on the ground with each growling breath. The other thing he notices now that he is closer is the fact that the air in the room is very still despite the heavy growling and breathing sounds.
Myrla follows Inge and Wadi into the archway, dons her shield and as soon as that's done, she changes to a dodge-ing stance and tries to keep up with Wadi.
"Remember that something had melted that door on the other side, approach with caution," she warns Wadi and Inge. "Perhaps, it would be wiser to withdraw for now and be sure that we haven't missed anything else in this chamber, what do you think?"
"Perhaps it is wise to find a place to respite for a bit. Let us take another look around before moving on." says Brix as he backs away from the doorway.
"Ok, let's get out for now and re-group." Myrla withdraws and explores the rest of the large space that the mephits occupied. (Perception: 11, Investigation: 9)
Returning to the previous room, there appears to be nothing particularly interesting in it. Shifting through the sand, there is only a flat stone floor. There are also no writings on the wall, unlike the previous rooms.
{{Sorry, I forgot to update the map with the two new rooms. The sarcophagus is in the middle of the south rectangular room, but technically the lower half of that room, including the T-junction is still yet to be explored by you. I have decided to include it anyway because you can sort of see a path beyond the dragon's teeth and eyes. I kind of forgot that darkvision is a thing for most of you guys.}}
Inge's breathing returns to normal after removing herself from line of sight from the maybe-dragon-thing. She looks chagrined and embarrassed, imagining how her clan elder would tell her story to the gathering around the bonfire. Our chosen warrior who we sent to the monument bravely ran away...
Brave young Inge ran away. Bravely she, away, away! ("No," Inge would cry in protest!) When danger reared it's ugly head, she bravely turned her tail and fled. ("I didn't!") Yes brave young Inge turned about, and gallantly she chickened out. ("I never...") Swiftly taking to her feet, she beat a very brave retreat, ("You're lying!") Bravest of the brave, young Inge!
Letting out a frustrated yell in front of her companions for no apparent reason, Inge grits her teeth, her knuckles white on the haft of her glaive.
"Just point me at the next door I need to knock down."
Myrla follows Inge and suddenly realizes that they missed one door in this new room. She points it out to Inge and says, „How about that door? I would try the handle first but it matters not. Any way of opening it is fine by me.“
„We can go back to that dragon thing once we cleared the rest.“
(What do we know about the door that leads west from the mephits?)
Recovering her composure somewhat, Inge approaches the door that leads west just past the mephits but short of the sarcophagus and dragon-thing.
She takes a look to see how and in which way the door opens, and whether there is any evidence of melting as there was with the other door further east that led south into the same general area. If it seems safe, she tries listening at the door, but finds she is still too jumpy to hear much worthwhile.
The group skirts along the wall to get to the door leading east. At a glance, it is a strong wooden door and doesn't appear to have any locking mechanism. There is no sound coming from the room.

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
Inge nods and sets her shoulders, hefting her glaive and attempting to move lightly and evasively (continually taking the dodge action).
She advances slowly towards the floating coffin to take a closer look at it, and whatever the scaled thing is further within.
Her stomach growls loudly.

"Too many growling noises. I... I don't like this room. And dragons - I don't like them either. Maybe we should go back to the melted door after all."
