‘ too much of a bio to fit here. call me Bananer for short, I’m one of the forum’s resident insane things. I’m a nongender Therian (look it up!) and also a silver dragon (not my kintype, just a me thing.) I’m a rogue and wizard, and if you want more info on me, PM me, or ask someone else. I’m well known.
Looks like it’s me, Aaggie, Vitus, and Cyber once they make a character?
Ah. Well Vitus so far. Yourself and Aaggie still need to fill in a bit of details on your characters before I decide to pick them up or not. If you've put it on the sheet itself somewhere, I'm unable to see it.
Include a bit of character fluff in your application. I'm not looking for a lot. You don't need a full backstory. Just a general sketch of what you plan your character to be. You can describe them in terms of other fictional characters if you want, give a few sentences about their personality, or just elaborate on what you imagine their role being in the party.
Ah ok. Will do. I actually might change characters….

Served with the army since he was 13, Dalien was a formidable foe, until he was gravely injured in battle. He has since recovered, but his pride was injured and he never went back to fight, despite his skill. The army of his city resented him for that, and cast him out.

Just an author at the end of the day...
Forever healer syndrome. Affected characters: Lutz Winsor (changeling shepherd druid), in the Turn of the Fortune's Wheel Tyrin Othenos Aubrey (tiefling scout), in the War of the Burning Sky Trill "Tritone" Aeolian Aberystwyth (v. human wild magic sorcerer/bard), in Camp Half-Blood
If it isn't, I'll just make him a regular Asmodeus tiefling.
And sorry, I think I overdid this a bit... I'm willing to give a TLDR; on this...
Tyrin Aubrey Dispater Tiefling, Lv3 Rogue (Scout)
Ability Scores: STR 8 | DEX 14+1 | CON 8 | INT 14 | WIS 12 | CHAR 15+2
Background: Criminal/Spy
Backstory: Tyrin's family (human dad Adrian, tiefling mom Celia, older brother Pyril) ran a healing clinic in Gate Pass. His parents had retired and his brother had taken over the business quite early in his life.
His brother was a very good healer. Not just his healing spells- no, any old doctor could do that- but his selflessness and dedication to his patients. He did his best for others, even when it inconvenienced him. Even as a tiefling, the civilians of Gate Pass largely respected him.
Tyrin, too, looked up to him. So when he realized that magic wasn't as simple as his brother had made it out to be, and that manning the clinic was starting to cut into his health, Tyrin decided to take matters into his own hands. But the fact was, he knew nothing about medicine, nor did he have the magic to do so. He'd studied hard, but he could never come close to his brother's level.
Instead, he looked to make money another way. Living between two hostile nations, the demand for information was high. He picked minor jobs so that his actions wouldn't come back and bite his brother, and kept it a secret from him.
When he heard about Leska's decree and the fall of Emperor Coaltongue, he tried to persuade Pyril to leave Gate Pass before they got caught in the upcoming war. He refused. After all, if a war is about to break out, it's his duty as a medic to stay and save lives. Tyrin, hearing this, resolved to end the war before his brother could get hurt.
Role: Tyrin's main role would be to get the party out of trouble. He has expertise in deception and persuasion, and knows his way around people. He could talk the party out of difficult situations where combat isn't an option. In addition, his build is geared towards getting information from NPCs and being the scout of the party. Once/if he multiclasses to artificer, he'll also be able to become the party's backup/pseudo healer.
Extra: - Both he and his brother take after their human side more than their infernal side. If not for his horns and tail, he could easily pass off as a regular human. This is another reason why the two siblings were generally more accepted than most other tieflings. - He has a bit of an attitude and can become quite passive-aggressive. Would never be the one to make the first strike or go charging into combat (unless he's mad or sees it as the best option). - He keeps a cool head most of the time, even when he's clearly in danger (blame his overconfidence. He has an 'as long as I'm not dead, there's still a chance and I'm smart enough to make everything work out' mindset). There are a few triggers that will make him lose his temper, one of them being his brother. - Going off of his overconfidence, he tends to play with fate sometimes. He's careful- he won't do anything blatantly dangerous or reckless- but he does tend to overestimate his abilities. - While he acts like a wild card sometimes, his true loyalties lie with his brother (and in due time, the party). - He doesn't actually realize he has magical capabilities (his racial spells). He believes that his brother was the only one of the siblings to inherit their mother's magic (Pyril is a sorcerer). He doesn't envy him, though. Just another reason why his brother is the best! - He is 8 years younger than Pyril, at 20-22 years. - I plan on multiclassing him to Artificer (Alchemist) if it fits in the story to give him minor healing capabilities. I have an in-story reason for this: he realizes that the party doesn't have enough medics, and tries to continue his studies to replicate his brother. - Chaotic Neutral
Forever healer syndrome. Affected characters: Lutz Winsor (changeling shepherd druid), in the Turn of the Fortune's Wheel Tyrin Othenos Aubrey (tiefling scout), in the War of the Burning Sky Trill "Tritone" Aeolian Aberystwyth (v. human wild magic sorcerer/bard), in Camp Half-Blood
General Story Formerly a street rat of Gate Pass, Harry found a permanent home in Gabal's school: the Castle. He looks up to the former resistance fighter with a kind of reverence and is unquestioningly loyal to the cause. The young mage has put an equal amount of work into both spell and blade, honing himself into a versatile warrior.
Personality Cocky, reckless, impatient, willful, and cavalier are but a few words Harry's mentor has used to describe him in the midst of a lecture. Though he's capable of understanding the importance of grave situations, he has a tendency to throw caution to the wind, to take greater risks than necessary for no other reason than to show off. He redeems himself with a commitment to things greater than himself - Gabal's school, and the safety of Gate Pass - and a relentless determination that few can rival.
Party Role Mechanically, a general all-rounder. He's learned a mixture of utility and damage spells to complement his swordplay. In combat he'll gear towards crowd-control, but if the party has a weakness in some area he'll pivot his strategy to shore it up. He is not charismatic. Manners and the like were not things he picked up while living on the streets, and in Gabal's school he focused on his natural talents.
In that case, I have a Lawful-evil Changeling Paladin, Oath of the Crown. His evil affinity comes from the understanding that in order for civilization to thrive, sometimes questionable acts are required. When he's ordered to commit such an act, he does so as an extension of those he serves, just as a sword must be held for it to cleave. As this is your story, I'd let you decide who he serves and build from there. Is that allowed?
I've been putting a bit of thought into this. I typically don't care for evil-alignments in campaigns like this...But maybe I just need to pick your brain on this a bit to see what you're really going for here.
it seems like you're spinning this Paladin as a "ends justify the means" type of person?
It also depends on what a "thriving civilization" means to him. Coaltongue's empire was orderly. The lands he conquered knew peace and security like they never had before. But this peace was kept through might and subjugation. The council of Gate Pass is willing to turn its magus population over to the Ragesian inquisitors to keep the peace. Is that a "required" questionable act according to your character?

Background: Gorruk grew up in the rugged streets of Gate Pass, where survival often depended on strength and cunning. He learned early on to rely on his fists and his wits to navigate the dangers of the city. As a half-orc, he faced prejudice and hostility from many, but he used their underestimation to his advantage, honing his skills in the city's underground fighting rings.
Personality: Gorruk is tough and pragmatic, with a strong sense of loyalty to those he considers friends. He has a quick temper, especially when faced with injustice or oppression, but he tries to temper it with a sense of honor and fairness. Despite his rough exterior, he has a soft spot for the underdog and will go out of his way to help those in need.
Role in the Party: Gorruk is a frontline fighter, using his strength and martial prowess to protect his allies and crush his enemies. He excels in close-quarters combat, preferring to wade into the thick of battle with his trusty greataxe. His experiences in Gate Pass have made him resourceful and adaptable, able to think on his feet and come up with creative solutions to problems.
Character Fluff: Gorruk is a bit of a rough-and-tumble type, with a tendency to solve problems with his fists before thinking things through. He's fiercely loyal to his friends and will do whatever it takes to protect them, even if it means putting himself in harm's way. Despite his gruff exterior, he has a strong sense of justice and a deep-seated hatred for bullies and tyrants. He's not one for subtlety or finesse, preferring instead to meet challenges head-on with brute force and determination.
In that case, I have a Lawful-evil Changeling Paladin, Oath of the Crown. His evil affinity comes from the understanding that in order for civilization to thrive, sometimes questionable acts are required. Yes and no. If he himself was ordered to do so, he'd follow that order to the tee, by whatever means he can, including through cooperation. He wouldn't feel the need to consider the ramifications of it, as he would only consider himself a tool to be used by someone he trusts completely. He would focus on completing his duty. If that includes supporting his allies and protecting others that would ultimately prove inconsequential to the grander scheme, so be it. It's not his place to question it. To use the sword analogy again, does a blade question who it cuts or why? No. It could slay an innocent in a raid, slaughter a deer in a hunt, block a strike in a sparring match or redirect a blow in defense of others. But to the blade, it's all the same. That's where this character's "evil" affinity resides. He's a caring ally and a considerate person. But he's also a slave of his own motives and an absolutist to his chosen cause. He's a monster.
In this case, his cause is the continuation of what he considers "civilization." With such a loose concept to go by, I was thinking he would start by protecting his ideal society: Gate Pass, his first home. With Coaltongue dead and his kingdom fractured, what the Paladin once sought to retain is now a mere memory in the face of this looming conflict. It's only natural for such a situation that a man's thoughts would return home. As such, this campaign would be his resurgence, a shift from his initial beliefs to a new standard of civilization -- one shaped by his actions as much as others. By the end of it, if he should be chosen, and chance impels he survives, he would likely become an Oathbreaker and ultimately swear to a new concept of civilization, far and away superior to what it was prior.
The first step would be in opposing any more sacrifice by the Council, viewing that act as a relic of a bygone era. With Coaltongue gone and his peace with it, that act is seen as a failed method in and of itself. And the failures of the past must be learned from.
Oh, party role
He’ll probably be just the brawn, with some dexterity too, and useful in fights. I’m imagining a dex-str shifting warrior, who has the flaw of wanting to be perfect in battle. I’m also imagining him as the tank unless we get a pally or a barbarian. I’m making him a bit different, with the aasimar healing powers, and he fights with shortswords and a crossbow instead of the classic rapier/longbow or greatsword/longsword/longbow. With his aasimar race, he can probably pull off the role of shining warrior.

Party selected and a message has been sent out, thank you all.
for consideration if it’s not too late.
Name: Gorruk Ironfist
Race: Half-orc
Class: Fighter
