The female Hobgoblin looks at Portia with a look of gratitude.  The baubles clearly mean something to this female.  "There is no other way down that I am aware of," she tells ERKY.  "Below is the grove.  I do not know more.  I have not been down there. "

(What do you do next?)

"If she has no useful information for her, I am taking those earrings and necklace back. Up to her if she is willing to keep her life or not in exchange for them."

Are we speaking common?

I'd like to take a piece of rope or leather and bind her hands. just a thought here, but what do y'all think about brokering a truce between the gobos and kobes?

 Correct.  Erky is translating everything.  She only knows goblinoid.

ERKY asks the female Hobgoblin about the body of the one the chief killed.  The Gnome will say, "She says, 'that the body was given to the Goblins.'  She says, 'the Goblins like man flesh.'  She added, 'I prefer your cattle."

Grimacing at the thought of what they may have done with lads body, I can see you point there. I think we should let the gobos know the chief bad guy is dead and ask who the new leader will be, let them know we'll be passing through and don't want anymore trouble. After that find us a place to hold up for a rest.

ERKY talks more with the female Hobgoblin.  ERKY says, "She will tell the goblins.  What do you all think?"

wait, there are more hobos? 

(My bad.  The Hobgoblins are gone.  I meant to say Goblins.  Post edited.)

Right oh then. Xanth these poor creatures understand strength and power, I think you should represent the party as you are the most...imposing looking?

ERKY will convey RAGDOR's idea to the female Hobgoblin.  The female Hobgoblin looks agitated.  ERKY says, "She would rather handle the Goblins herself."  ERKY will add, "I think she wants to be the one that shows strenght and power."

Xanth "That's fine. Just let her know we are doing this because it is a little faster than killing all of them. Which is something we will not hesitate to do if we are given any reason." No intimation just a promise between warriors. 

(Anyone else agree that it is OK for the female Hobgoblin to handle the other Goblns?)

Righty then, lets get started, Erky if'n she starts talking aggressive like you yell Armageddon and we'll start knocking heads. Lady bless us. readys my gear...

ERKY gives the female Hobgoblin the OK.  She then drinks the potion.  Next, she strips the chief down to his underwear or whatever Hobgoblins use for underwear.  That concept and thought is for another time.  

The female Hobgoblin drags the body to the southernmost door and goes through it with chief's body.  She closes the door.

XANTH will notice the smell.

You will hear a commotion for a spell, but it simmers down after a few minutes.  The female Hobgoblin emerges and shuts the door.  She then talks to ERKY.

ERKY will say, "Durchina...that's her name, is chief now.  The party is free to pass the Goblin areas as long as there is no violence.  We have the black onyx gems.  Hold it out and say "dolkek" if you see a Goblin.  It essentially means "safe."  They should let us pass.  "I told Durchina that it would be wise on their part as well or they will end like your chief."

(Situation resolved.  What do you do next?  Erky would like a long rest.  If you take a long rest, where do you go?)
