Suddenly a human comes flying through the doors of the building, crying 'Doctor, please save him!'. Cradled in his arms is a badger that has injured its right paw. The human says 'I tried to use Cure Wounds but it wasn't good enough, is there anything you can do?' He then looks to where Doctor Heford is seated, and where the rest of the party is huddled around. Immediately he spots the man in bed and rushes over saying 'Is that Jaren, of the Stoneforest House?!' He looks to you all and asks 'What has happened to him?'
Balen had to take it all in for a second. A branding? That- that wasn't what he expected. The fact that Tildrash's father managed to survive after a wounding like that for so long also rang in his mind. His eyes widened as he looked over to Tildrash. Before he was about to say something along the lines of 'what do you think he did', the entrance of the human (and a badger?) startled him. "Ja-Jaren?" The changeling raised his eyebrow at the newcomer. 'Oh so that's his name,' He thought.
After hesitating a bit to tell someone who just came in the whole story, he decided that since they already knew the tiefling's name they might as well be trusted. He continued, "We don't really know. He washed ashore just minutes ago. The doctor-" He gestured towards Heford, "Said he was branded by some sort of clan. Called Gorthax. Looks like the tried to kill him, but, well, look at him. He managed to survive! Seems scrappy. He survived, though barely."
He thought about the gravity of those words for a moment. He turned over to Tildrash, "Do you think this is a warning? First the Supine, now this? Ya think that Gorthax is planning something greater? They are in between this town and the wizard's. Word might have spread fast..."
Balen looked back at the newcomer, "Wait. What do you know about Jaren? What do you think he must have done?"

I’m Cetar Allwood, a Druid apprentice, and I’ve been looking for a party to join, though I’ve had a bit of a struggle finding one. Do you think I’d be able to join you?’
[Rhino, hopefully I’ve got everything correct about your character, I’ve been doing it what the DM told me about him so should be good]
Tildrash looks to the new arrival. He looks back to Balen, and turns him around to whisper to him, “Balen I’m not certain whether or not we should. He may be of some help, yes, but I’m worried we might be bringing him into a problem he shouldn’t have to be a part of. I don’t want him to get hurt needlessly, I feel like it just may be too risky, what do you think we should do?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I see..." Balen tapped his foot on the floor in thought. He really wasn't sure where he was going with this. Today was a very... unexpected day. Personally, he didn't really care or not if they should. He wasn't much of an adventurer and more of a loner by trade, so he wondered if maybe he should have stuck to just selling garbage to people on the streets again. But if the world were to end, then there would be no people to trade with or any streets to trade from. Which still, wasn't that bad he wouldn't be alive either, so to have that kind of judgment was too much of a brain effort to do, so his thoughts were scattered. Plus all the names of different houses and politics and whatnot left him feeling he had more questions than answers as he attempted to listen to what Tildrash had to say.
"Same..." He eyed Cetar warily before whispering back to the dragonborn, "I'm not so sure either.... Don't really know what to do 'ere. Though he did seem to know a lot about Jaren. Maybe we should wait until he wakes up to see if he could really be trusted. For all we know, this guy here might also be lying. They could both be lying really. Jaren did try to attack us. To be fair though he did look pretty roughed up." He thought about it for a second, "Though I don't really see why this guy would want to. This... this is a lot to take in really. I think we got some mystery-digging we got goin' on."
Deciding to take the lead, he announced, "Well I, for one, definitely am not much of an adventurer. But looks like you well and did stumble upon an adventure because right now we got Jaren, you," He pointed at each of them respectively, "A Supine who was here before but now is not, some dude named Fungus who sent us on this quest, me (name's Balen by the way), Tildrash, and a mysteriously colorful robe which apparently can save all of time? And yeah, um, looks like we ended up with a party... At this point does your badger want to join too?"
He laughed before getting serious. "Wait why do you have a badger? This... isn't a place for animals? Nevermind ... Look what I want really are answers." He was getting a bit impatient with so much stuff to keep track of that his head was spinning. He took a glance over at Tildrash before he headed over to Jaren's body, seeing if he could inspect the wound or of anything on his person, "I'mma go ahead and poke him. If this guy's got as much spunk as to go up against Gorthax and live, he must have been up to somethin' big. We might as well get as much help as we can get?" He asked that last part like a question because he wasn't so sure himself.

'My badger? Oh right, he's called Zumu! He likes dirt, and horses, and apples, and...' Cetar looks up from his listing to see that the room is stony silent and serious; clearly he's made a severe misjudgement of the mood. He straightens up and says 'Zumu and I got into a fight with a imp earlier. I tried to fend it off before it could do any real harm but it got Zumu with his stinger before fleeing. I know this isn't the right place for him, but he needs serious medical attention, since he's really the only friend I've ever had.' He places Zumu tentatively on a side table and announces to the group, 'Look, I know there's a lot going on and you might not be able to trust me, but I feel like it's fate that's brought us here together. We might not be the greatest crew, but I'm sure we can scrape by and maybe we can even make a name for ourselves on the way. But you don't have to make any decisions quite yet, since it looks like Jaren will be out cold for a little while, and I'm sure once he's awake everything will come into a lot clearer focus!'
Question... did you poke him on the brand or just in the side?

As Cetar was talking, Balen didn't seem to notice and just gave him a few "hmms" and "ohhhs" when the druid spoke as he tried to figure out what was wrong with the wounded tiefling. The burn wound looked bad and he grimaced at the sight of it. 'Yikes,' he thought. "That's... kind of sad. A badger? As a friend?" The imp fight thing kind of went over his head, but he made a mental note of it as he went along, "... Actually I wouldn't know. I don't really do friends much." He then looked over at Tildrash, feeling a bit sheepish at saying that. Though it was honest, he only just met the dragonborn that day. Weirdly enough, though he started to notice he was feeling sort of attached. To shake the feeling off, he went back to inspecting Jaren.
"What's this?" He spied the paper under his shirt, "Wanted dead or alive..." He gave a worried look over to Tildrash as he slowly handed him the paper, "Looks like you might want to see this."
"Pfft, I hope we'd be able to figure everything out. I bet if I made a name for myself, it'll most likely end up on a Wanted Dead or Alive poster like that one. 'Balen Knots. The stupid-'" Before he had a chance to continue, as soon as he went back to poking, this time when he prodded the burn mark the tiefling seemed to have woken up. 'Oh no. What have I done this time.'
His fingers reached for his dagger as Jaren woke up as the changeling jumped to nearly a battle stance in preparation for a fight. He loosened his grip once he saw that the tiefling meant no harm... at least so it seemed. His eyes darted back and forth from Tildrash to Jaren in confusion as he could only take in so much at a time. The sudden surprise from the skeleton figure also made him nearly jump, though he figured if someone didn't have any skin, maybe the doctor wasn't the best place for him. More like a graveyard. How does one live as just bones? He didn't know, but the world was weird enough already he didn't have time to think.
To break the tension in the air, Balen said, "... Well ain't this just the party."
(ahhh sorry I have no idea what to write here, but welcome skewerly!))
Cetar yelps in fear as Jaren leaps out of bed, then pulls out a flimsy yew twig and holds it in front of him like some sort of wand as if he were a wizard. Shielding Zumu with his arm he cries out 'Stay back, I know at least two dangerous cantrips and I'm not afraid to use them!' But then as he saw the Tiefling calm down and mean no harm he awkwardly returns the stick to his pouch and mumbles something about 'better safe then sorry'
(He has his back to the door so after all the commotion with Jaren I don't think Cetar would have spotted Skeleditrio yet)
(Also @Skewerly how are you running Skeleditrio? You said they were a tiefling before becoming a skeleton so are they just played as a regular tiefling with the skeleton part as flavour, or are they a Reborn? Or is there another way you’re doing him?)
Tildrash looks to all the commotion and collects himself. He grabs everyones attention, “I apologize for my outburst, but I do not have much more time. My name is Tildrash, my companion Balen and I are on a quest to stop the end of the world. Our next destination is Clan Gorthax in search of safe passage to the Sandhills and vengeance to those who have suffered their cruelty. Whoever is in need of desperate help seek shelter in Elmside. However, whoever is willing to risk their life for my cause may follow me, but we must hurry. Once again I apologize to all of you for this commotion, but we must leave this very moment.” As he finishes his speech he begins walking his way to the boat.

With all the commotion, Balen's head was reeling. He let his fingers scrape the curved edge of his dagger, not enough to draw blood, but so much so he could recenter himself. What felt like cloudy thoughts gave way for him to realize the scene in front of him. He laughed at bit at Cetar's attempts to defend himself, "A stick? Man... good luck." He gave him an endearing shrug.
Balen was surprised by Tildrash's outburst, the usually calm and collected dragonborn was not one to mess with right now. Something must be really wrong for him to be this antsy. 'Guess now is not the time to play,' He reminded himself. "Yeah, I agree with Tildrash. If y'all want to come, you're welcome to. Ya did say you wanted adventure... Though I really wouldn't call it one."
He gave a sorry look over to Jaren as he headed towards the doorway where Tildrash had gone, "Sorry Jaren, I know you're likely won't wanna, but you were the last one to be in Gorthax. Are you well enough to help out? We don't want ya dyin' on the way there though. Are you okay?"

Cetar follows up Balen’s remarks after Tildrash’s announcement by saying ‘I came to Elmside to find adventure, and now that I have found it, I can’t back down!’ Picking Zumu back up off the table and placing him in his satchel, he says to Dr Heford ‘As Balen said, this is not a place for animals, so I’m sure I can heal Zumu myself on my travels’ He takes a long look around the room at Jaren, Balen, Dr Heford, Skeleditrio and the rest of the patients and announces ‘I will be joining Tildrash and I look forward to seeing who will follow behind me! Now if you would please excuse me, I have a boat to catch and a destiny to follow!’ He rushes out of the room, running after Tildrash shouting ‘Wait for me! I’m coming too!’

Okay, the world presents some problems and we don't know what to do / You've come to find your feelings aren't exactly what you knew.
