Hurthrun stands to attention, looks at the legate.
”Thank you sir, I will take him to the medicus, however I believe my comrades issues are more due to the fact he has been subjected to in my opionion an unfair system of systematic institutionalised bullying from his superiors and as such I believe he deserves an apology from the ones who subjected him to such abuse.”
This only further reassures Reginald he can do no right in this world. He had assumed that, this was the way they all talked, as all the soldiers had talked down on him in that way. Embarrassed and humiliated as so many times before, Reginald can't even defend himself as the Legate asks why he did not stand up for his comrades. Was he not the only one that stood up and tried to help? was it all a dream? Did he hallucinate the entire event? " I tried to save him, I tried, I really did try " or did I ? "
He cant mean now as they are all my comrades, even the foul whipper.
The Legates words echo in Reginald's head "Do you have mental issues, son?" perhaps he is crazy. That would explain everything. " What happens to crazy people here" - Reginald ponders."Nothing good, I assume"
Reginald will try to excuse himself and avoid going to the temple in fear of being found crazy. The Legates words calling him weak and inexperienced dont seem to phase him as he's beginning to agree with everyone. That he truly is weak, frail and cursed.
I will attempt to lay low, perhaps find work no one is willing to do" Like latrine duty, or floor scrubbing. "Reginald remembers his time on the streets and how no one used to look him in the eyes or bother him when he looked like a beggar. Perhaps the same rules apply here. Investigation or survival 3
Also history on the dark ones what would I know if anything 16
The Legate looks at Reginald attentively: "Was he indeed? I can't see any outward signs of him being hurt. Maybe a cleric will discover more. As far as the bullying goes, you can always report it. I can see that instructor Galareon here obviously overstepped his boundaries, but he will get his punishment for it soon. Also, I understand that, espeically recently, not all of the recruits are cut out for combat. But there are more than one ways to serve the Legion, and there is a place for everybody here."
The Legate turns to Reginald, and sadly shakes his head: "He is not saying a word, even though I have asked him several questions. It might be more serious than we thought. Take him to the clerics immediately, he is not the first one in the Legion to have issues like this. There have been strange things happening around here recently..."
Reginald, you have not really been around for so long, and you have not been too attentive, so you have no idea, but there must be people keeping this place clean. Perhaps you could join them.
You have heard that the original inhabitants of the Black Island, Insula Neagra, are fearsome and bloodthirsty, who are said to fight with no consideration for their own lives. The Empire has been waging a long war against them, and they are not doing very well at the moment... You have heard stories about the dark ones, but it is difficult to decide what is true and what isn't. What you know is that they seem to be the leaders of this mysterious army.
Hurthrun bows to the legate “As you say milord, glory to the empire”
Hurthrun then turns to the legionnaires flanking Reginald, “Can ye uncuff him fer Thor’s sake?” He then extends a hand to Reginald and says “Come wit me lad, lets see if we can see what’s goin on wit ye”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"He is not saying a word, even though I have asked him several questions. It might be more serious than we thought. Take him to the clerics immediately, he is not the first one in the Legion to have issues like this. There have been strange things happening around here recently..."I mean I answered his questions, I only remained silent to the ones where he was outright mocking me to Servius Zhorgok and when he asked me "if I had mental issues " cause I assumed the question was rhetorical as he seems to be speaking to me as a superior or a drill Sargent would to his pupils. As well as he followed his question up with a monologue, so I assumed answering it would only bring further wrath upon me.
If I thought he expected an answer: I would have answered"No ser, my head is fine ser"
Maybe including an internal monologue is confusing you, but hes not acting delirious, he's just choosing his words carefully, and the ones he thinks they want to hear. Hes trying to show no emotion, as his mind is racing. I will from now on refrain from monloging to avoid further confusion.
"My head is finde, ser. That wont, be necessary, ser! " Persuasion 23
You can also write down what he thinks, just use the formatting that I have liked earlier to make the difference between thoughts, speech, and actions clear.
Also, roll the previous roll with disadvantage - an orderhas already been given, and Reginald has not really been acting as a mentally stable person in this situation, as far as the Legate is concerned. Given that he is a commanding officer, and he has very high Insight, the DC for the check is 20. I will edit the post to reflect his actions based on your roll.
"Of course, as far as I am concerned, it was a mistake on part of the Legionnaires to cuff him in the first place, sorry about that. Off to the temple, then! Just make sure he doesn't get into any more trouble - no more instances of picking fights, duels, insulting superiors, blasphemy or anything of this sort." The Legate gets up from his chair, and is getting ready to leave. You can see that he is already thinking about something completely different. "If there is nothing else, you are dismissed. Long Live the Emperor!"
Out of fear of getting into further trouble I see myself off to the temple. I tell Master Dwarf; that its best we part ways, I have gotten him into to much trouble already. If he hangs lingers around much longer, my cursed tongue will get him killed. I thank him for being my only friend in this world.
Hurthrun looks at the human walking away and thinks to himself...... "I wonder where that bonny lass went"
He then sees the human trudging off and runs to catch up to him, as he's catching up to Reg he says "Woah slow down there laddy, Ah'd love to get back to trainin lad but ye saved me life..... That still counts for summit where I'm from......... Plus somebody's gotta look out fer ye and make sure you have [With air quotes and a grin] no more instances of picking fights, duels, insulting superiors, blasphemy or anything of this sort." [ End air quotes], Now whaddya say we go to the temple and see what they say, and afterwards we can get a pint on me?"

I smile and say " I'd like that"
"How about we head to the tavern, first? Then the temple there after?"Persuasion: 10
Reginald puts on his best Hurthrun impression "To tell ye the truth laddy, I'm dreading goin me self. I wouldn't mind having a drink or two in me before they start drillin holes in me sockets and pullin me brain out"
Hurthrun tilts his head back and roars with laughter
”Lad that’s a terrible dwarven accent, ah don’t sound like that so I?!!! Don’t worry tho we shall grab a few pints and then poke you full o holes, and on the way ah’ll teach ya the finer points o’ how ta speak like a dwarf! Here’s a trick.... Praying at the altar of beer helps yer accent more than praying at the Feet of a god”
Hurthrun puts his arm around Reginald as he says the last line and gestures to the air to highlight his point. Afterward I assume they go to the tavern first
Do you want to go to the same tavern that you went to before? This is the only one that you know so far, the one close to the Citadel, but you can safely assume that it is not the only bar in town. You can start asking around or try to discover the city on your own (Persuasion or Survival).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I doubt we'd want to go to the "mutiny-Inn". I'd assume we'd walk around for about 10-15 min, if we don't stumble upon one, we'd ask around. Persuasion: 16, Survival: 7
Surprisingly, you find no inns around, except for the one that you already know of. After walking around for a while, you start asking people about any - actually, there are quite a few.
You find out that the one that you have already been to is the Rusty Sword an inn frequented mostly by the rank-and-file soldiers, just outside the Citadel. There is also an officer's club inside the Citadel, The Glory of the Seventh. There is one more that you could visit, and be back before curfew, and also have time to talk to the clerics (btw, Reginald, you get the impression that what matters here most is to get soldiers combat ready, they are quite unlikely to drill holes into people's heads, if it can be avoided) which is in about three hours, one by the docks, The Flying Fish, which is mostly frequented by sailors and local fishermen.
People tell you of several other establishments in town, but they are further away (if you find them). One is The Wandering Serpent Tavern, mostly visited by travelers, the other is The Bottomless Barrel, an alehouse mostly visited by the locals of Negrorasul, the Golden Unicorn, which can be found in the more elegant district of the city (where you may or may not gain admittance), and finally, The Call of the Siren, a house of bad repute, about which you find out that Legionnaires are not particularly welcome there.
In case you want to visit one of these, you will not have time to go to see the clerics before curfew, which means you have to get up really early the next day. You know that Zhurgok or another officer will ask you about your visit to the temple tomorrow at midday when you have to report for duty.
Me and G are most interested in The Call of the Siren, How imminent do I think it is that I go to the temple, do I think they will actually check and see if I went. Or is it more like, a suggestion than a order?
Do you ask around a little bit more about The Call of the Siren? You can roll for Persuasion if you do, or Insight if you want to make conclusions from the way people speak about the place.
You find out that the Call of the Siren is a place that is often frequented by local criminals and other figures of the underworld, as well as poor people. Legionnaires mostly only go there on official business, and never alone. You get the impression that the clientele of the bar would be if not outright hostile, but at least quite unfriendly to you.
As far as visiting the temple goes, you feel pretty sure that they will check whether you went. You got a direct order from your superior, which was supported by the suggestion of your own friend, and basically everyone present.
"Lad I been thinkin', Ah can honestly say that if we can go to the sailor bar we are likely ta find some beer and some fun..... Let's face it the sailors know how ta party! But end o' the day if yer sure ye wanna go to the call of the siren, ah'm not gonna stop ye, but don't forget the boss man said we gotta make sure you're alright at the temple"

Kiddi, can you please reformat your post according to this? https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/play-by-post/2069-pbp-rules-and-faq-please-read-first?comment=58 I am sticking to it in the future as well! II don't want to misinterpret what is part of your internal monologue and what it is that you say out loud. The actions of the NPCs will be determined by what they can see or hear from this.
