Hello there, folks. I go by Lerus, and I am a DM trying to get some more experience under my belt after running three IRL groups over the past year. This will be my first PbP adventure, and I hear it is a great way to exercise your creative muscles. I’ll be running a one-shot titled “The Meeting at Deepnight” and am looking for three or four players to join me. If you have played this specific one-shot before (it is available from DMsGuild), please let me know (just for info). Willing to join in and give it a shot?
We’ll be running out of DNDBeyond Forums (a separate post to this one). To apply, please post your character's name, class, race, and selected background here, along with a DNDBeyond character sheet/profile link. As this is a short one-shot, there really is no need for an extensive backstory, but feel free to post a short paragraph if you feel so inclined. I’m looking for people who can commit to posting at least once a day. In combat, characters silent for more than 24 hours into their initiative will be autopiloted to perform simple weapon attacks, cantrips, or the dodge action as appropriate, just to keep the action going.
Character creation: no homebrew, UA, Critical Role content, monstrous races (from Volo’s), or evil characters. Stats will be rolled as 4d6 (x7) drop lowest of the 4 dice and drop the lowest of the 7 rolls. You’ll start as 1st level characters and get the starting equipment. Starting equipment can be sold for 50% value, and mundane equipment can be purchased for the price listed in the PHB.
Please be kind to your relatively inexperienced DM. Depending on demand and whether this one-shot is successful, we may keep going afterwards.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I would like to apply!
I will roll for stats in order to help develop an interesting character:
STR: 11
DEX: 9
CON: 11
INT: 16
WIS: 8
CHA: 12
EXTRA: 17
I will replace the 8 in WIS with the 17. And thus was born: Cato Vandebar.
Class: Druid
Race: Human
Background: Sage
Backstory: I am a scholar and a naturalist. I conduct research on plants, animals and other creatures at a university. But at 45 years old, I have realized that though I have spent my entire life studying and writing about the diverse and wondrous collection of living things in the world, I cannot say I have ever truly experienced nature. Therefore, I took leave from my position at the university, packed a bag full of provisions and supplies, and set off to explore--to adventure--in that world I have until now only read about.
Short Backstory Living under the rigid education of an extended aristocratic family, Charlotte often found her nose buried in books and tomes of arcane knowledge from the rich library of her father. Through her self-studies, she often found mentions of necromancy and speculations on the soul and the body, and how those two elements where both connected and disconnected. She is fascinated by the idea of life beyond death, and she is determined to learn more about the mysterious arts of necromancy; wherever that knowledge may take her.
Backstory: Orla was part of a performing troupe but the rest of them were incarcerated after mocking a noble in one of their plays. As the only one who escaped, she is now looking for other means to earn a living.
Hey there, Lerus! Nice to meet a fellow DM. I've been active on PbP for a few months now, so know the big changes between PbP and IRL games. If you'd have me, I'll pop a character below (will roll some dice and leave the character once I've put in on D&D Beyond)
Ability scores: 4169158914
Name: Drazzim Beerbelcher Race: Mountain Dwarf Class: Fighter Background: Folk Hero Backstory: Drazzim Beerbelcher is the typical big stupid hero. He has gotten through life on lucky breaks and aloof posativity. He likes to wield large weapons and smite into bad guys, looking for them near and far. He left his home after they told him there were greater threats out there (and he was a threat to their ale supplies) so we took what items he could and went in search of adventure, and victory!
Alright, folks. It looks like we have ourselves a nice little party already. I'll close this thread shortly and we can get started. Anything you guys want to bring up before we do?
If you'd like to join, go ahead and post your character. The one-shot can accommodate 5 players with no issue, so there is no need for anyone to drop out.
Race: Dragonborn Class: Cleric Background: Noble Backstory: Born to a Noble bloodline, Kelbirith has set forth from his homeland to help bridge the gap between Dragonborn and the other humanoid races. He was brought up as all Dragonborn, fiercely loyal to his clan. The Mystan clan are spiritual leaders and are part of the ruling class of Dragonborn. Devoutees of Bahamut, they are on the fringe of normal Dragonborn who tend to shy away from spirituality, but are still respected for their contribution to the society they are helping build.
Kelbirith himself has spent many hours studying the history of the lands, to better understand the cultures of the distant lands he is visiting as emissary. He is particularly loyal to Bahamut having been raised in his service, almost as loyal to Bahamut as he is his clan. Before he set out, he spent much time among the lesser clans, tending their needs as he could. He fights to maintain the bond between the Mystan and Norixius clan, as he believes protecting the people is his primary duty.

Current Player In: The Guild as Elsara Deepmoon
Ignore me, thought I was the fourth posting, don't want to take anyone's spot.
Nothing wrong with a bit of competition. As a third caster, my character might be less useful to the group than yours.

@MoistBrooks
If you'd rather play, I'll happily step down. I'm already in plenty of campaigns, so feel free to give it a shot.
