With the competition getting rougher and guard patrols on the rise, the gang has fallen on hard times. Boss has picked up on a huge tip and it's up to the Rogue's Gallery to follow through. Question is will any of them live long enough to see pay day?

The following are the rules for posting and playing in this game. Please read these rules carefully and follow them as you best can. Always feel free to ask questions or for clarification on rules.
Posting
When not in battle, post to your heart's content. When in battle, only post for your turn if you can, but feel free to quip if you'd like.
All posts should be in the third person. I do not care about your tense as long as I can read it!
Use "Quotations" when you speak. Pick a color and use that color for your speech. This makes posts easier to read and see who is talking. Bolding your speech is recommended, but not enforced. Please choose a color that is easy to read. You may be asked to change the color of your speech.***
Sentences should be complete. No chatroom speak or excessive use of shorthand.
Most rolls will occur in the thread. Some rolls can occur in Discord (for example, you are unable to post a roll via mobile). There may be moments, for the sake of secrecy, you may be asked to roll in private. I'll provide direction on when this happens. 😃
Keep most OOC to the OOC thread or discord aside from leaving quick questions or statements inside of (parenthesis).
When using abilities, please provide the tooltip if you can! (Example in spoiler)
How do the tooltips/links to spells etc work?
D&D Beyond offers the ability to link certain aspects on the forum in mouse-over triggered tooltips, such as magic items, monsters or combat actions - examples being Adult Black Dragon and dash. To create tooltips in this way as these, use the appropriate [tag][/tag] around the desired subject.
Example: [ magicitem]sunblade[/ magicitem] (Without spaces within the [ ] brackets.)
When we are in combat, feel free to post your turn whenever even when out of sequence. The DM will summarize everyone's posts and include enemy action and movement at the end of the round.
Home Rules
Epic Heroism: Short Rests are 5 Minutes. Long Rests are 1 Hour.
Healing Surge: As an action, a character can spend up to half their hit die to recover HP in battle. You roll the die and add your constitution modifier. You cannot use this action again until after you complete a short/long rest. First level characters cannot use Healing Surge.
Inspiration Action: Inspiration can be stored and you can have a maximum of 3 points. You may spend 3 inspiration points to take an additional action during your turn. This action can only be used for a Standard or Movement action.
Passive Initiative: Initiative will not be rolled. It will be determined with the following calculation: 8 + Dex Mod + Any bonuses.
Battle Summary: Everyone will post their turn in battle when they can instead of posting via initiative order. DM will sum up the battle in their post which will include what the enemies are doing. This means you may not know what the enemy is doing until the DM posts the summary. Whenever a player takes an action that would become null and void due to player or enemy movements, DM will contact player over Discord -or- will redirect player action in a way that is beneficial to the player (whichever player prefers).
Help Action: When one character help actions another character outside of combat, they either must be trained in the same skill as the check OR they must be able to justify why a different trained skill would help. The player must also roleplay out exactly what they do to help. Help Action in battle still grants advantage. No skill check required.

You've spent the better part of the evening in Downstairs - known to tourists as Lower Menthis Plateau. The drinks and thrills are cheap, and the marks are easy when they come out liquored or drugged up. Yet here you are with sovereigns in your pockets while Boss has asked for galifars. Times are tough as they always get after an election. Savia Potellas, the infamous owner of a brothel in the Firelight district, was re-elected back in Rhaan and with that came a crackdown on petty crime. Of course, Savia never does anything about the powerful crime lords. She just does whatever it takes to make her constituents believe she is doing something worthwhile. In a couple more months, the Watch will relax again and you'll be back on sleazy street.
The problem is that the Gilded Lotus, the tavern/casino/inn you call home, is barely breaking even. If you want to continue living with a roof over your head, you'll have to make it big in the next couple of weeks...
Thankfully Boss has called a group meeting with the gang. The goal is to meet in Boss' office upstairs in the Gilded Lotus in a couple of hours.
In the meantime... what have you been up to?
(Please describe your characters! ALSO IF YOU DIDN'T NOTICE, THERE IS A TWIST ALREADY - YOU ARE ALL BROKE. Your gold? That's actually silver, known as sovereigns. Welcome to petty crime, gentlemen, ladies, and others. Below are maps for the Gilded Lotus. Feel free to use them as references for the time being! Once everyone has introduced themselves and/or roleplayed their intros, I will move things along to the meeting with Boss!)

Copper sits at the bar downstairs, sipping on whatever the house red is. The scruffy, brown-skinned shifter is dressed in dark clothes, once nice but showing clear signs of wear. The dark leathers layered over it are in a similar state, and the pieces are mismatched: some reddish mahogany, others dark brown or black. Fiery red hair tumbles past his long ears in the back, but is cut shorter in the front, and his sharp claws can be seen occasionally fiddling with the axe strung at his hip. A fanged grin plays across his face as he jokes flirtatiously with the bartender.
Vasha milled about as she did every night. If someone needed something, she was there, but otherwise she just wandered the floor, catching bits of gossip here and there. All the while a little circle of copper danced across her elven fingers. A gig like this wasn't terrible: a roof over her head, meals provided for service, and mundane magic was common enough that she could blow off some steam in the open with little notice. Spice a plate, chill a drink, dust off a traveller, etc. it was nothing to these people to whip up a bit off magical fancy.

A fine mist was falling in the city above. You wouldn't know it Downstairs except for the puddles; raindrops seldom made it so far as the cobblestones behind the Gilded Lotus. Puddles would just appear where an hour before there was only dust and potholes, peeking up like moles feeding on the damp air. Two stories above street level there as an uncommonly dry space, however. There, in an odd little alcove formed at the intersection of two buildings, was a miniature dragon's hoard of discarded treasures. It was kept warm by the chimney behind it and the kitchen fires of the Gilded Lotus below, and it was impossible to see from above or below (or very well at all from the sides unless you knew where to look).
Suddenly, a broken downspout begins to rattle. Then there is a squawk and a ruckus in the rear-most corner of the alcove, and something dives forward with an earthenware jug just as water begins to pour from the spout. A fluting sigh of relief, and the large jug is set on the ground as it's filled. It's a kenku, and today, this kenku is agitated. He is a little taller than most crowfolk, and his plumage is a dusky midnight blue. He walks slowly but decisively from one corner of his roost to the next, black leather straps of his form-fitting garb failing to fully conceal the ruffled feathers around his neck and shoulders. He picks up a small bowl (china, only a single fine crack marring its blue face), a pocketwatch (or the case for one, anyway- and who would need the insides?). The kenku calms by degrees- clearly this is a ritual, a meditation. He continues his circuit back to a low three-legged stool (one leg being made entirely of a wine bottle) and he pauses. Sitting atop it is is a small, dusty, leather-bound book. Kinnik (for that is the kenku's name) reaches out a clawed hand, for the first time hesitant to handle one of his treasures. A looping, arcane sigil is emblazoned across it cover, and for a moment, it is reflected in lines of fire across Kinnik's true-black eyes...
And then the hand grabs at the book and, in less than a heartbeat, it has disappeared somewhere on his person. With a surprising fluidity, he leaps over the edge of his roost and into a 2nd story window of the Gilded Lotus.
A curvaceous waitress comes up to the bar to drop off the plates and glasses from the last customer who has just left. She is a human with curly blonde hair and blue eyes.
She sits down near Copper, letting out a sigh.
"Well my shift is over, time to get into something a little more familiar."
With a quick word, the common dress the waitress is wearing, transforms into a nicer more rugged set of paints and shirt.
A few seconds later, the waitress is gone and Olen Tikari, the Half-Elven persona of Shroud, is wearing the transformed cloths.
"Ahhh that's better. Another shift down."
Olen lets out a yawn and stretches his arms up over his head to get the tension out.
"I'm excited to hear what Boss wants. Hopefully it's a new job and we can start making some real money again."
"If I had known money was going to get so tight, I might not have bought the shiftweave."
Olen runs his hand down the sleeve, feeling the design.
"Ah, who am I kidding, this stuff is so great. With what this will allow me to get away with, I should be able to make back the money in no time."
Olen is average height with a somewhat slim build. His hair is jet black and slicked back down to his neck. His skin is pale and he almost always seems to have a lopsided smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. His eyes are a striking jade green.
Olen is known around The Gilded Lotus, having worked for Boss, on and off over the last 6 odd years. About a year ago Olen came to work full time for Boss and has been here ever since.
It is obvious to those that work at The Gilded Lotus, that Olen is a Changeling and that his true name isn't Olen. Only Boss knows Shrouds true name and only he and Cap know that Kasper Atramento and Olen Tikari and the same person. Kasper Atramento has been seen at The Gilded Lotus before, as he sometimes does forgery work for Boss. But Shroud is careful to keep Kasper's true nature a secret, as Kasper has a legitimate and established identity and profession.
"Looks like good quality too. Well worth it I'd say." he responds with a wink. "I'm hoping it's a job too though. Seems I picked the wrong time to join the Lotus... not that I had a choice. But hey, who knows, it could be something with a big payoff!"
"Hey, its never a bad time to join The Gilded Lotus! Boss looks out for his people, this is just a slump because of the new mayor. We'll get back on our feet and be raking in the money, you'll see."
Cap finishes polishing a glass and steps out from behind the bar, grabbing his hat. He slides a bar stool over to Copper and Shroud's table, and leans back, letting out an obviously faked sigh.
"Shift's finally over. I'd be exhausted if I could be exhausted. How's it going, Ollie? Cop?"
He leans back a bit further and inspects his hat. It shows lots of wear and tear, but a large, bright feather from an unknown bird is in pristine shape, with no sign of dirt or anything on it at all.
"Hope whatever the Hells Boss has planned'll pay up, I need a new hat. Whaddya think it'll be? I'm hoping for some flashy heist, preferably one where we make a glorious getaway on an airship that arrives at the last moment. However, a weathered law enforcement officer with a dark past and a sweet mustache will vow to hunt us down, and it'll result in a grand chase scene where we eventually lose him and fly off into the sunset, and he curses our names and vows to kill each and every one of us."
Cap goes on for a long while about the adventures of Cap and Co., always ending with him coming out on top, getting the girl, and riding off towards the sunset.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Olen sighs at Cap's dramatic imaginations, but smiles as he continues to listen.
"You know Cap, you really do have to write that book or screen play for all your imaginings. I'm telling you, I think you could make some good money from it."
Hearing the banter at the bar, Kinnik cautiously peeks down the staircase to ensure the patrons have left for the evening. Seeing Cap, his expression brightens visibly. He hops lightly down the steps and crosses the bar to alight upon a wooden stool.
Studiously ignoring the others, he cocks his avian head at Cap for a moment, considering. Kinnik's beak opens, and out pours the sound of water suddenly rushing out of a broken downspout into a large earthenware jug.
Cap has been boasting about (among a great many other things) his skill in distilling pear brandy. He bemoaned the dearth of fresh water at the Lotus, though. Kinnik turns a quizzical eye toward the burnished warforged barman as if to say, Any pears come in?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kinnik opens his beak as though he will try again, but it shuts with a soft clack as he thinks better of making the attempt. He'll just bring the water for the brandy down later. Suddenly restless, Kinnik turns to the others with a gleam in his eye. He stands on his stool, puffs out his chest, and in a ringing carnival barker's baritone announces:
"Come ye round for fears and feats?! Escape ye here from yonder streets! If'n sun be out or thunder's rumbling, we've fire juggled and bodies..."
(Kinnik leaps backwards from the stool in a twisting backflip)
With the competition getting rougher and guard patrols on the rise, the gang has fallen on hard times. Boss has picked up on a huge tip and it's up to the Rogue's Gallery to follow through. Question is will any of them live long enough to see pay day?

"Naah, I'm not up for that kinda stuff. I'm a man of action! Well, a machine of action. And those aren't imaginings. They're plans!"
Cap turns to the newly arrived Kinnik.
"Woah! I'm never gonna get used to you being able to do that. What's up, little buddy?"
He ruffles Kinnik's feathers with his metal hand.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
If'n sun be out or thunder's rumbling,
we've fire juggled and bodies..."
(Kinnik leaps backwards from the stool in a twisting backflip)
