I just got the newest module for D&D "Dragon Heist" and would like to run a pbp - I don't have much experience of DMing PbP´S but have ran campaigns on roll20 for almost a year and some local games as well.
I'm willing to get this started right after the 4th player´s post (as long as every previous poster met the requirements, which are just common things por a D&D campaign) no Homebrew or UA, everything else is OK. ( Monstrous Adventurers are also Ok)
Please post the following information if you are interested:
Name
Race
Class
Roll 4d6 for each ability score
Add the link to your Character sheet
Edit: By the way I usually allow my players to roll their ability scores twice and pick whichever works best for them.
Edit: We are starting with lvl 1 chracters and I would rather have basic information of your characters because the module incentivises your background as a group so I believe it'll be more interesting if you elaborate on that while playing the campaign, just have a good idea on your character's motiviations and goals.
We will be starting in Waterdeep and your group has been working together for a while, taking some low tier jobs.
If you want, share one of those stories. Did your character screw the very first mission of the group? was it due to a mistake, conviction, lack of planning, etc.
Yeah, I forgot to mention to drop the lowest number for the ability scores. Please go ahead and to that if you haven't.
And I'll close the Thread right now so no more submissions. I see that you guys might change classes, that's OK, work that out and use the following link for the campaign, I'll be sharing handouts through the notes over there.
And let me know as soon as you are happy/satisfied with the classes selected. Once you enter the link for the campaign you´ll find the first handout which shows 7 NPC's that will be considered as good friends from waterdeep and just as you regulars at the Yawning Portal, you can all pick the same NPC or each a different one. Just let me know which one.
Durnan
Bonnie
Threestrings
Yagra Stonefist
Jalester Silvermane
Meloon Wardragon
Obaya Uday
Edit: So I just closed the thread let me count the characters and explain the rules of participation:
Reply at least once a day (if we catch a good rythm and everyone is participating constantly, then we will change the expectation to more times in a day)
If your response is needed, we'll wait for 24 hours, after that I'll decide the outcome of the situation (or roll it) and I'll just keep simple third strike count. after the third one, you are out and we'll open the thread again to keep it at 4.
If you know that a certain day or week will be busy and you might not have a chance to participate as required, let me know, maybe we can work that out.
Like I said, my experience with PbP is ZERO haha, but I'll try to be as clear as possible and feel free to IM me and case of any questions, doubts or suggestions.
I'm thinking that maybe we can just create a server in discord to share the handouts. (but if you think that pasting links through the campaign here in D&D works fine, then we'll keep it that way)
BTW, is kind of late here but I'm cool with waiting a bit for your characters and answer regarding the NPC you'll be choosing in order to start with the game.
Also feel free to find images of your characters and share them with the rest, or if you rather, post a detailed description of your character looks and mannerisms.
I'm still look into the image department. But I was wondering since I chose a Genasi, can his mortal parent be a dragonborn? And his appearance reflect that to a degree?
Also, I chose Obaya Uday.
I'm fine with either or as far as discord goes.
(Edit)
Good to know, Andros. Here's the the big now.
(The Barbarian that saw the light and became a Cleric)
Mannerism/Description: Flux is a knowledge seeker, a caretaker, and one that aspires to be protector of those he deem to be his charges; instead of the selfish brute of the past. Because of his level-headed approach, he can come as being cold and uncaring, only to ever 'lighten up' when its pointed out, worn down by drink, or surrounded by large bodies of water(rain included).
Phrael hasn't changed much today from when he first came to Waterdeep. The once dirt covered wood elf, now a more pleasant sight and smell. The dirt and grime that soiled most of his features including his shoulder length, black hair, and leathers have all but been restored. Still a Ranger at heart, he's never afraid to get dirty, however the comforts of the Yawning Portal are always a refreshing breath to end most nights. Especially after the many friends he's made over his stay that are always willing to share a pint or two in the tavern. His closest yet, being Yagra Stonefist. A half-orc with a mouth and strength to match.
She had came to Phrael's 'rescue' the first night at the Yawning Portal when he had a bit too much to drink and no tolerance from being in the forest most his life, surviving off what nature had to offer. Having accidentally bumped into a table of nightly drunks known for their violence Yagra was quick to jump to his aid or perhaps she was just itching for a brawl. Phrael didn't look a gift horse in the mouth, and he was too drunk to remember most the details.
The rest of his time in Waterdeep was much of what would be expected. Picking up odd jobs here and there until joining with a group that just seemed natural. At the end. They finished strong. The beginning was rough, more so for Phrael than maybe the others. At least that's how the wood elf remembered it. The details are also a little fuzzy after the victory drinks at the tavern upon their return.
(No picture. I've been playing DnD on and /off/ for about 20 years. Started PbP this week. I've never done any of the modules for 5e.)
Description: There are two sides of Kebron. On the job he's quiet and determined. Fierce and unforgiving. When off the job he's jovial and friendly. Loves to share his drink, and can be a bit obnoxious once the drink booze starts flowing.
I'm still look into the image department. But I was wondering since I chose a Genasi, can his mortal parent be a dragonborn? And his appearance reflect that to a degree?
I don't mind that as long as you only use the genasi's racial feats.
Welcome to Waterdeep, the Crown of the North, where a wondrous tale of urban adventure is about to unfold. Our story begins with the gathering of adventurers at the Yawning Portal Inn and Tavern where they met to celebrate a job well done (retrieving a noble's pet might not be what every adventurer dreams about, but it was actually harder than it seemed when they accepted the mission from that weird old man with the crazy hat)
The first one to arrive was Phrael who noticed at the distance Yagra, but she seemed to be in a bad mood, didn´t pay much attention and order a table to Bonnie.
Should I get a table just for one or will the rest of your group join you tonight? I haven't seen Kebron in while...is he Ok?
"Can't believe that thing bit me." Phrael mumbled to himself before smiling broadly at Bonnie as he walked into the Yawning Portal. "They'll be along shortly. Kebron as well. I believe he's just got some things on his mind, but should be his normal self. " Following the barmaid to the table, eyes glancing over Yagra as they went. It was clear the half-orc was upset about something, but most times it was best to give space when she was in a mood. "Excellent!" Phrael exclaimed as he set his long bow against the table and pulled out one of the chairs. "Might as well order a round for the table. I can at least get things started." He leaned in a bit. "Also, do you know what's going on with Yagra today?"
So you noticed too, huh? - replied Bonnie after lighting the table's candles. You better keep an eye on her, her temper could get her in trouble again, and she was lucky Durnan was around last time to get her off the hook.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Character sheet: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/5588450
Question was the ability scores suppose to be 4d6 drop lowest or just 4d6? I just rolled 4d6 as it was posted.
I'm also willing to play a fighter or bard if there are to many rogues.
Wow. Three rogues. AmazingAmazon submitted first; so, I withdraw my submission. Thanks.
I know right? Uh calling ALL tanks, please apply!!
Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
You silly. This is D&D you don't need a tank. But, I can meet you half-way, maybe?

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist
Chapter one: A friend in need

Said Bonnie as she walked Phrael to their table.
