I've still got my eye on the B thread, while trying to organise my home internet connection: I should be here quite regularly any day soon, now.

Hey all, sorry to spring this on you with such short notice. I'm calling another hiatus from March 4th through March 10th so I can focus on my midterms and have a bit of recovery time afterwards. I'll still be trying to process character applications (as I can do that between classes) as well as participating in my other PbP games (where I am a player) as much as I can, but DMing is a lot of time and energy that I need to study for classes. Sorry about the inconvenience, and the game will resume Monday, March 11th. Everyone can still post actions if they like, but I won't be making posts during this time.
Totally fine by me, real life always matters more, as hard as it sometimes may be...
All The Best for your midterms !

On a similar note, I'm away myself for celebrating my father-in-laws 70th from Friday 8th to Thursday 14th of March. I will probably get a chance to post but got to wait till i'm there to see if it's possible. So if Pheara is quiet I'm just offline for the trip!
Hey everyone, I hate to do this, but the hiatus is being extended by one more day. Some of my family from out of town needs some help, and I'll be heading over to help them for the rest of today. We should be back up and running tomorrow, provided nothing else unexpected comes up.
Alright, last update post before I actually get back to writing up posts.
This sort of thing is never easy to start, so I guess I'll jump into it. Due to a few changes in my circumstances and a bit of self-reflection, I'm going to have to give up the position of DM for Eternal Warfare. Now before it gets too disappointing, allow me to elaborate. I won't just be dropping the game here and now. I will try to bring each War Party to the end of their respective "chapters," since I'm not a fan of unsatisfactory endings- the entire reason I picked up this game as the DM is because I hate unsatisfactory endings. But as I dive into the second half of the semester, and applications for internships begin to come up, I'm going to have a lot less time to do DnD things. DMing consumes the most amount of time, especially when you're running 5 separate parties. For a frame of reference, I usually spend 30 minutes to an hour deciding how everyone's actions affect the world and game.
Another reason why I'm giving up the position of DM is because, simply put, it's super stressful for me. I have had some bad experiences DMing in the past, and there's a lot of worries that pop into my head when I'm running a game. I always feel like I'm doing something wrong or I could be doing something better, and while I know my work doesn't go unappreciated, I struggle to believe it myself. And with my unpredictable schedule sometimes, I worry about annoying players with my lack of presence. I was gone for five days, and I feel as if that can't really fly if you're DMing a game, especially one on this scale. You all have been wonderful players, regardless of whether you've been the best roleplayer or the sheer damage dealer. I'm amazed at the size that this game grew to, but I simply can't maintain it. Even if I were to cut it down, I'd hate to get rid of people, even by random lottery. In the end, I'm just really burnt out on DMing due to my own anxieties.
Finally, I'd like to offer the position of DM to someone else. I've got my own baggage when it comes to DMing, but I feel as if the majority of people don't have that. It doesn't have to just be one person, since there are five war parties to choose from. I will gladly share what notes I have concerning the game, and I'm already intending to publish certain homebrew items, races, and monsters that were going to appear later in the game. If you really want to find these things for use in your own games, I'm going to end each one with (Eternal War Series) to make it easier to search up. It's also fine if no one wants to pick up the game. PbPs are born, live, and die quite often on DnD Beyond. But as of this post, recruiting has shut down. I will finish processing all the applications I have left in my inbox, but assuming this game is going to die once everyone is done, it would be pointless to continue.
I'm sorry for everyone who has just joined or has not been playing very long. I will do my best to bring this game to a satisfactory close, and I hope that everyone will enjoy the rest of the game.
Don't apologise at all! You've got to prioritise things in life and despite how into it we may all get D&D shouldn't be at the top of those priorities. I think it is commendable that you took over the campaign to save it to begin with(especially as it is a monster campaign!) and also that you are going to wrap things up instead of just letting it fizzle out(which you wouldn't need to apologise for either).
I think you've done a great job and want to say thank you for running the campaign as you have. Hope everything goes well for you in the rest of your life and that the stress levels are are much more manageable for you!
You can only do what you can do and I appreciate all the effort. Looking forward to seeing how things wrap up all the same and hope all goes well for you.
I'm sorry to see you go, but it was fun while it lasted. I would have you as a DM anytime, no baggage brought or required. But such is life, and things as they are, I wish all the best of luck to you in your future endeavors. Take care, be well, and enjoy yourself.
Sorry about the longer gap this time, everyone. I've been having a lot of car problems on top of internship applications and writing hundreds of papers, so that's been fun and also time consuming.
Hey, everyone. Sorry about the long, long, long, LONG absence. Here's a quick breakdown of events so you're all up to speed with what happened.
Mid-April: My homework starts piling up, and with finals on the horizon, I quickly ran out of time for anything beyond schoolwork. I did mean to put out a post as a hiatus, but somehow that didn't get done.
Early May: I finish finals, and the day after everything wraps up, my computer goes dead. I spend the next few weeks taking it to and from Best Buy's Geek Squad, where I learned that a. I had a motherboard failure and b. It was super expensive to replace, so I might as well buy a new computer.
June 1st: I buy a new computer off Amazon. It's projected to ship anywhere from June 5th to 11th.
Today, June 8th: The computer comes in the mail, and after a bit of setup, here I am.
Since there was pretty much a month of radio silence between when I dropped off the face of the planet and when I came back, I'm assuming that interest in the game is at an all-time low of zero. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get in contact and explain everything earlier, which sounds much weaker than I intend. I have no words to describe the regret that I have about not being able to finish this game.
That said, I am going to be making posts in each thread (enclosed in a spoiler) with the projected ending for each of your "chapters." To say I knew exactly how everything would pan out in the end would be a lie, but there were some important plot points that would eventually lead to the final showdown in the end. As I said, I hate leaving things unfinished, and this is my way of making up for that. I have a busy summer ahead of me, and the likelihood I would be able to continue to DM or play in PbP games past this point is slim to none.
Finally, I want to thank all of you. As the players of this game, you have provided me with the constant drive to create an interesting and in-depth world and story for you all to explore. I've never been entirely confident in my DMing skills, but this game allowed me to figure some things out, and I could not have done it without the wide cast of characters that this game brought to the table. Thank you, so much, for putting up with my bumbling design and contrived encounters.
Very late reply to this but I want to thank you for the effort you put into this game I really appreciated the little conclusion and it didn't seem like a small task ahaha. I had tons of fun even if it was for a short time! Good luck on your next endeavors!
No worries here, bud.
