ooc: mucor wont realize you all left until dawn. I will wait to RP his early morning after his swim until you all catch up in the timeline since he is still sleeping at this point
"Mucor is fine, just resting. The reason for our unannounced visit is that we think Davara has chosen to show us the location of Daegon. He is hiding in the black tower on Zhora. My father used to tell me stories about the Seven and the black tower and the way he described it is the way this tower looked. It had an army of undead protecting it and from within, Daegon and Aemyra were in the middle of some sort of incantation. The problem is we don't know exactly where this tower is and were hoping you could shed some light on that." Gaelin responds rapidly while looking anxious.
"Ya. We had a dream and started up high on a cliff side then it felt like we flew or were pulled into the tower through the walls and saw Daegon, but he saw us somehow and tried to reach out and get us. I had ice on my forehead when I woke up." Aryn adds.
(OOC: SO am I the only one that kind of wishes that Mucor and Aria had turned into werewolves.. and then when they were both in their hybrid crazy forms, they fell in love because they both looked the same and had so much in common and lived happily ever after? no... yeah... me neither... that is dumb.... what a silly idea... i am a 32 year old man and I wouldn't dare think up something so crazy..)
(@Jianra- It's a large living room (25x25) with a few couches, a small coffee table a couple small side tables and a few chairs. Three of the walls are mostly bare with random paintings or portraits. The eastern wall, opposite the door, is half cabinet half bookshelf. Most of the books appear to be fictional or somewhat historical, none giving any magical aura or arcane insights.)
A storm forms over Varian's brow and he seems immediately distressed. "I see. The black tower you say... If that's true then I fear Daegon has captured or slain a very skilled mage who's charge was to protect it. He appears to be more capable than previously thought. This is quite troubling news, but I'm glad you shared it with me. The black tower is a pillar of magical power. It is enchanted with multiple spells that enhance a spell caster's abilities beyond their normal limits similar to the alexandrite crystals. I am well aware of the location of this tower but fear that Daegon may be too much for your group to handle if he is within. I also fear what he could do with that power. Give me two weeks to research and send an observation team in. If Daegon is using the tower's power to bring back Vaeril it will take him at least a month even with the tower's power to do so. There hasn't been an attack on Esterlin's fleet yet so you can still be of service there. Use this time to prepare for a war on a scale you have yet to encounter. I will gather what assistance I can to aid you in this but I fear we might be fighting alongside on another shortly." Varian's face relaxes somewhat but his tone carries the same sincerity. "Stay close to one another. Only your combined strength will be able to overcome this new development. I will come find you in two weeks." and he vanishes in a flash of light.
A mage enters the room and bows saying, "Varian has instructed me to aid you should you require transportation or supplies before you depart."
"Well that was... umm... not how I thought it would be. If Varian's worried we probably should be as well right? Maybe I'm just tired but I don't feel that scared... Oh sorry. Can I get 10 crates of alchemist fire and 10 crates of oil as well as a couple nets and some rope. One unusual request, if you can't help then it's okay. Do you have any mithral ingots? Also we will probably need transport back to our castle once we get the supplies. Anyway, I think we should take the night to rest then check in with Mucor in the morning. Although I might want to talk with Alexandria and Juliana to see if they know anything else. If we're going to get two weeks to work with, we might as well take out a werewolf slave trade" Aryn says to the group then to the mage then back to the group.
Jinara steps forward "You can include the same requests as my comrades. I do have 3 other requests. I would request access to you libraries for some research. I would also request a few moments with Varian or another mage that excels in the art of magical craft. Finally, I would ask if you have any artists here that have completed any work on human flesh."
"I'd also like double the crates, nets and rope requested so Mucor can have a set as well. Thank you for your help." Gaelin says before turning to Aryn and the others. "If we have that much time I agree with Aryn. We might as well still have an impact even if it is a smaller one"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The mage's eyes widen as he gets bombarded with requests and quickly raises his hands in the universal slow down gesture while he takes mental notes. "I will make the necessary arrangements for the crates, rope and nets. In regards to the artist, are you referring to tattoos of arcane nature or simple physical nature? I will take the other requests to Varian to get his approval. Please wait here." The mage leaves quickly leaving you alone for about 10 minutes before returning with 6 others each carrying multiple crates, ropes and nets. They set the supplies on the floor in front of you and the original mage speaks as he points to one of the crates on top of the others that is shaped slightly differently. "You will find 13 ingots of mithral in this crate. That is all Varian is allowing you to have at the moment." he turns to JInara and continues "Varian is not available for a visit during this time but has agreed to let you into the lower library under supervision as well as meet with Arcanist Loralye (Lore- a-lie) to schedule a visit during the two weeks that is agreeable with her schedule."
"Thank you sir. I can cary much of this and we can redistribute when we return to the castle if that is okay with everyone." Torq says as he begins to collect the supplies and put them in his bag of holding.
Jinara responds to the tattoo inquiry "both actually."
After he returns, "please extend my gratitude to Varian for his willingness to share the Seven's knowledge. Might you point me in the direction to the arcanist?"
The mage nods at JInara and says, "Follow me". While you walk up a few flights of stairs the mage informs you that arcanist Loralye is one of a few who knows of arcane tattoos however, for any physical tattoos you would easily find them within the city or most major cities and capitals. You are led to a single door that opens to an octagonal room with a door on each wall. Standing in the center of the room is a purple female tiefling dressed in elegant white, blue and gold robes. She smiles and bows politely before introducing herself in a high pitched but proper tone (like Professor Mcgonagall), "Hello and welcome to the Seven. I am arcanist Loralye Brisaraes but you can call me Loralye. Thank you Cedric, I can take it from here." She says dismissing the mage who bows and exits quickly. Loralye walks over and pulls your arm through hers as if you are guiding her even though she is leading. "I understand you have an interest in all things magical including creation and manipulation of magic to suit your needs. I'll have you know that such things are quite difficult but with the necessary precaution and creativity you can accomplish much. Now.. we don't have much time today but I thought it would be best if we set a day or two aside in the next two weeks that I can teach you a few things. I am busy for the next 3 days but after that I'm relatively clear until 10 days from now."
(basically pick on or two numbers between 4 and 9 and that will be the day/s that you can attempt to learn some new things, with a few successful checks of course. ;) )
The rest of the group packs their supplies and sits patiently for Jinara's return to the lounge while back at the castle, Mucor is beginning to snore.
Torq will make small talk with Aryn and Gaelin while they wait. "So Aryn, you're an attractive woman. What qualities do you want in a potential partner?"
Jinara looks around at each of the doors to glean any characteristics that would grant insight into the purpose of this room. While looking, he will slowly circle the room, turning his black and silver eyes between the doors and the teifling. He says "It is an honor and a pleasure to meet an arcanist of your talent and nature for, what's the word..., creativity. My desire to explore the unknown is one developed recently. We have realized that the darkness we are fated to confront is drawing on enhancements that grant him boon over his abilities beyond the normal capabilities. Maybe its this black mage tower, maybe is Vaeril himself granting god-like abilities to him. Either way, we have to explore new options. I am working on something new currently that will take me take me and my arcanist approximately 5 days to complete with our current resources, barring complications. If you have any assistance that can aid in the research and testing, that would be greatly appreciated. Once that is complete, I can return and learn from you and your libraries. If I can bring my arcanist as well, that would greatly benefit our work. If not, I understand."
"Well... that's a bit forward. Although, now that I think about it confidence is attractive so I guess that's one thing, but overconfidence is bad so you have to be careful with that one. While looks are nice and somewhat important, having a sharpened mind is a necessity. There are already enough dumb men in the world so finding one that's handsome is relatively easy. Finding a man that knows how to handle himself in a variety of situations, physically and mentally is a rare find. Last and probably most important is loyalty. As you can probably tell, Gaelin and I fight quite a bit but should someone, even a dragon try to hurt him I'd kill em and he'd do the same for me. I want someone who will have my back and get along with my friends and family. Yes, there will be heated moments but when the storms or hordes of zombies come, we're still on the same team." Aryn replies.
"Then I shall see you five days from now. If you need to change the time you can send me a message. What you speak of sound intriguing. I'll be glad to assist in anyway I can when you return. Now if you'll allow me I must be going and so should you." Loralye says and with a flick of her wrist you feel yourself falling for a split second before you reappear in the lounge alongside your comrades. You nod to the mage who begins casting a familiar spell and you are instantly teleported back to Castle Daybreak. The afternoon sun sits low in the amber sky and you make your own preparations for the evening and night.
