I would like to try and DM a Pbp game. I have DMed LMoP a couple of times so we can try this out. I have been playing a few months and still have a lot to learn so we can all learn together. The most important part I think will be to have patience with one another and have fun!
I would like to start with five level 1 characters and see how things go. We will roll for abilities and take the standard for HP. We will use starting equipment and see how things go as well.
Please fill out the below form, using the dice roller in the forums for the abilities. roll 4d6, drop lowest, reroll 1's for your stats
Harukai was a quiet soul who was content to live out his life in service to Ilmater, but fate had other ideas. Less ecclesiastical in his interests, he often was tasked with accompanying the faithful as protection rather than as spiritual colleague. Thus it was that he accompanied a small contingent of priests into the catacombs beneath the abbey to visit the honored dead. Harukai does not speak of the next few days, but observant companions have heard him thrash while dreaming some nights, fighting off some nameless fear. What is known is that the abbey fell in smoke and flame into a great pit that opened below, and Harukai was found, barely alive, at its edge.
Leaving his past behind once he had healed enough to travel, Harukai set off into new lands, trying to make a new start for himself and somehow make sense of a faith that failed his brothers but spared his own life...

Gerrard Feldren - Human Noble in Ghosts of Saltmarsh
Kerric Brightblade - Elven Warrior in "Apocalypse"
Hello everyone. We have our party for this campaign so we will begin. First things first, we will go over how a session 0 to cover posting and playing the campaign.
Please read the how to play PbP pinned post in the forum on posting.
When posting an action or attack, enter it in bold if possible.
Enter character speech in quotations and italics "Hello, can you point me to the market?"
Rolls will be done with the dice roller using the standard form of what you’re rolling for (in bold) followed by : and the dice roll. Example: Investigation: 4
If you are making an attack roll, roll the attack and roll the damage right after in the same post (be sure to add the modifier to the score). I will track the HP of the monsters and if something misses I will let you know. Same goes for spells with a DC save. If the save is successful I will say so.
If you have something you feel you need to roll for such as an investigation or history check, go ahead and make the roll and I will let you know if there we need to use a different skill.
When combat begins, I will roll initiative for everyone (if that's ok with everyone) so we can make things move a little quicker.
Use the forum dice roller.
When communicating out of character, such as asking me a question, use OOC before the text.
Please track your own HP. I will track XP and let you know when to level up.
I sent everyone a link to the campaign so all sheets are in one place.
If you have knowledge of the campaign please try not to "play ahead" or metagame. I will try to play the game as written, but will throw in additional monsters or change things to make it more challenging if things seem too easy. I want everyone to have fun but not make it impossible.
As I have stated initially, I am a beginner DM with a few games under my belt. I know I will be making mistakes along the way so please be patient with me and point out any issues because I want to improve my skills.
Our story begins in the town of Neverwinter, which is on the Sword Coast in the Forgotten Realms. Your group of adventurers has met in the Driftwood Tavern, which is one of the more prominent establishments in Neverwinter. You have all came in response to a job request from a Dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker. He is needing able-bodied individuals to escort some supplies to a mining town to the south.
Our party:
Jackson Greystone – Human Cleric
Harukai – Human Monk
Nilparin – Half Elf Bard
Koren – Dragonborn Warlock
Nephrius - Tabaxi Rogue
The other individuals in the inn sit glancing unwearily at the mismatched group of individuals who are sitting at the table. The group is attampting to make small talk amongst one another while waiting on Gundren to show up.
Take this time to talk a little about your character backstory, how you wound up in Neverwinter, and how you got information about Gundren's job.
OOC: At 55, Jackson Greystone is a bit old to be still adventuring, but the Human Cleric still has a job to do, and that's to protect the people and serve justice on behalf of The Maimed God, Tyr. When his old friend Gundren had asked him to accompany a group of supply runners, he couldn't refuse; after all, the journey south can be treacherous, and the journeymen -- no matter how able-bodied -- will likely need a Cleric along the way. While the grey-haired Greystone may be on the last leg of his life, he still packs a punch, and his 6'8 stature still towers over many. A religious man, he can be quite the superstitious type, and he'll often relate everything he or anyone else says back to Tyr. However, he's still a patient and understanding person, acting as a father-figure to those in need.
Unfortunately, he's no longer the hulking figure he once was, and his Chain Mail seems to scrape across the floor. Nevertheless, enemies best not underestimate him and his trusty Warhammer, though it's unlikely anyone will get past his Shield.
Sitting in wait, Greystone peers over everyone in the tavern. A sober man, he doesn't partake in any drink, instead just sitting patiently waiting for Gundren to show up.
"By Tyr! Where is this dwarf?" he mutters under his breath.
OOC: Apologies for the formatting, my power is out and I am attempting to post from my phone.
The quiet, dark-skinned man sits silently at the table near Jackson, seeming to grant the older man a deferential respect.
Looking up from his simple fare, he remarks, ”Thank you for agreeing to let me accompany you, Brother Greystone. While productive, my time spent illuminating the Triad’s manuscripts has left me itching to stretch my legs.”
The first words he has spoken in an hour, they illustrate Harukai’s humility and willingness to help those he encounters. A slight man, especially compared to Jackson’s bulk, Harukai wears simple, grey clothing and carries a traveling pack as well as a walking stick, both currently leaning up against the wall behind him. He seems somewhat guarded with the others at the table, but not fearful.
Looking up from his simple fare, he remarks, ”Thank you for agreeing to let me accompany you, Brother Greystone. While productive, my time spent illuminating the Triad’s manuscripts has left me itching to stretch my legs.”
Jackson turns his attention away from the door and towards Harukai. "Of course, Harukai. In fact, the more the merrier," he says as he makes a fist and rather gently hits the table. "But yes -- I very much recall spending much of my youth contemplating the readings. As enlightening as they are, I was by no means born a holy man, and therefore was also subject to similar...itches."
Jackson picks his Warhammer up and cradles it with both of his hands. Smiling now, he says "Just remember that while it is Torm who asks us to stick to our duties and Ilmater who expects us to endure and persevere...it is Tyr who calls us to take action when it is fit! And now, I think, is as fit a time as any."
Looking around at the group Nilaprin checks his gear for the 3rd time this minute, glancing back and forth between the door and the group.
"So what brings you all here? I myself come seeking glory and companions."
Jackson turns away from Harukai momentarily to answer Nilaprin, saying, "Then you are in the right place, my friend. I am Jackson, by the way. Jackson Greystone."
He turns back to Harukai, then nods towards the small Dragonborn sitting with them. Switching from Common to Celestial, he says to Harukai: "A bit small, eh?"
