When Otik gets close, Brenton will get up and give Otik an embrace that friends give when a long time has passed. Brenton uses the ruse to whisper to Otik, "Who's the man in white? Also, the old man telling stories knows that woman (insert location) that's trying to be conspicuous - who are they?"
"That's Hederick," Otik whispered as he moved back from the companions' table. "The High Theocrat."
The man called out again, glaring at Tika. She bustled quickly over to help him. He snarled at her, mentioning poor service. She seemed to start to answer sharply, then bit her lip and kept silent.
The old man came to an end of his tale. The boy sighed. "Are all your stories of the ancient gods true. Old One?" he aske curiously.
Brenton saw Hederick frown. The man hoped he wouldn't bother the old man. He touched Alex's arm to catch his attention, nodding his head toward the Seeker with a look that meant there might be trouble.
Otik resumed " The elf is new, she likes to be left alone but she is nice." He gazes at the old man. " The old one is strange but he makes people come in so I don't say anything. Still with all his stories he will get into trouble."
The friends turned. They stared in silence.
The old man's voice carried clearly over the drone of the other conversation in the common room. "Indeed, my stories are true, child." The old man looked directly at Geoff and his tall escort. "Ask these two. They carry such stories in their hearts."
"Do you?" The boy turned to Geoff eagerly. "Can you tell me a story?"

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
At the table, the Minotaur sits his helmet down and begins to eat some of the food and drinks a bit after that. he was hungry and let his ears drift to the hustle and bustle of the tavern ruckus. it was a comforting lull as he felt somewhat at home. Much had changed to him and he suspected the others, what didn't was the way he ate, shoveling food and drink in like it was the only food he had in ages and drinking sloppily. His chin hairs were holding bits of food and dripping as he ate never one to learn the more civilized etiquette. no, he was a soldier used to have to eat his food on the go or be able to leave at a moments notice.
After he finished, he looked over at the others and asked collectively."How was your journeys?"
After watching Zar shovel his food and drink into his face, "I see you did not learn how to eat during your five years away." Elbowing Shan to get him involved in the ribbing of his friend. "My time in the north was unsuccessful in finding any sign of the old gods."
"So, the coot and the woman are nice, but it's the theocrat I must worry about. Fair enough," Brenton responds.
He'll look for a seat at the table, preferably with his back to a wall and able to keep an eye on all the strangers. Barring that, he'll make sure to find a seat that allows him at least to keep an eye on he theocrat and his guard(s).
Brenton continues scanning the room for more possible allies of the theocrat, sizing them all up. As he does so, says, absently, "My journey was long and painful, but I got to see my family and what's left of the combined clans. Regarding its original purpose: it bore no fruit."
Shifting in his seat until he gets somewhat comfortable, he grabs a couple of Otik's spiced potatoes and whatever meat they have available.
After a couple of bites, he asks, "So any word on how these Seekers were just granted power? And what's this staff with a blue crystal that they're searching for? Any of you know of such an item whether by sight or by tale or by book?"
Brenton, still looking around the room, gulps down his food, even faster than the minotaur - the habits of a nomadic plainsmen - when he says, "Keep an eye on that old coot of a storyteller. If that Seeker what's his name doesn't like him, he may be of interest to us and may need help soon enough."
"In the meantime though, I'm going to talk to that quiet lass. Anyone that calm in this storm has something interesting to contribute - I'll be right back."
Brenton gets up an approaches the quiet BLUE skinned woman who keeps watch on the old man, he leans in so that, although still a respectful distance, he doesn't have to worry about others hearing too clearly, saying, "Otik speaks highly of you, and you seem to have an interest in that storyteller, along with myself and that theocrat. May I join you? I think you know more of what's going on here than I and I'm in need of answers. Solace has changed much and it bothers me."
//Edited for clarity on who's Brenton is speaking to. //
Shan, after greeting her friends with a warm smile says
”Yes, much has changed in these years. The Seekers used to be a nice group, concern about the people and helping them, and I still think that some of them are truth to this, but most of the order has been turning their backs from the people and like the power. “ while she speaks she looks towards the High Theocrat and instinctively takes her staff form the wall she had it. “I swear that if that one speaks to Tika in that way again I will teach him a lesson...”
Tayron, not minding the others talking, starts to answer his friend question.
“ Oh I traveled far and wide you know, have a lot of more maps now! “ he says tapping one of his bags from wich you can see some rolls of parchment protruding from them. “ I befriend a troll, and stopped an evil wizard from summoning a demon... and I... “ but his talk was interrupted when the old man talked to the young woman suddenly interested in that conversation.
"Shan you know if he gets too frisky Tika will do something, or Otik, if not then I'll step in. I doubt he will like to go face to face with me. Especially after I faced ignorance and fear on my journey. I have a lot of anger to throw at others who wish to do that."He says taking a drink, his voice, normally stoic or with a hint of mirth began to drip anger. Something uncharacteristic of the beast.
Fangor crosses his arms at the minotaur's question and removes his hood. The elf had not changed much in the last five years, though there was a sense of peace. He taps his hands on the table, revealing a small tattoo of a star on his palm. "It was interesting. I returned to Qualinost, only to find no sign of my family. I still feel they are out there somewhere, though I have little faith they are still alive. I spent much time in the forest of Qualinesti and met a small band of rangers and protected the woods with them for a year. I found my way back here to meet all of you."
